Before I could say anything else, the man from the entrance returned.
What was he exactly?
A waiter?
A host?
Maybe both.
"Hello," he said politely. "Do you have any allergies?"
"Uh… no," I said, glancing briefly at Kasteil.
"Great. And are you a fan of seafood?" he asked. "We are a seafood restaurant."
"Oh," I said. "Yeah."
So that explained everything.
The design.
The water.
The fish.
It suddenly made perfect sense… but at the same time it still felt crazy to me. Who even thinks of building a restaurant like this?
"Wonderful," he said with a smile. "Your courses will be served shortly."
He left again, and I turned toward Kasteil.
"What?" he asked when he noticed my expression.
"So it's a seafood restaurant, huh?" I said.
"Yeah."
"That's weird though," I said thoughtfully.
"How?"
"It would be weird just eating a whale and then it swims past us."
Kasteil choked on a laugh.
"What the hell?"
"But it's true!" I said, my ears turning red even though I was smiling.
