Holland's POV
Jamie's phone started ringing again.
The sound cut through the room like a blade, sharp and persistent. It vibrated against the wooden bench, the screen lighting up over and over with Elian's name.
"I'm not going to answer it," Jamie said, wiping his tears with the sleeve of his robe.
His eyes were red, lashes clumped together from crying, but his jaw was set stubbornly. He turned the phone face down as if that would silence it forever.
"If you don't answer it how do we know if he is cheating or not?" Soren said.
Soren was calmer than both of us, but I could hear the edge in his voice.
"I don't want to hear his explanation," Jamie said.
He crossed his arms tightly, shoulders hunched inward like he was trying to protect his heart physically.
"But you have to," Soren said. "Even if he is cheating give him a chance to explain himself and then do whatever you want from there."
"I gave him a chance and he admitted to it," Jamie said quickly.
