Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: One Arrow Settles a Whole Group of Poison Dart Frogs

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Ethan swung the fine axe in his hand like crazy in the forest.

At the same time he was also goofily copying those super cool moves of Li Bai and Miyamoto Musashi from Honor of Kings.

And then… Those trees really did go "Crack! Crack!" and all crashed to the ground, turning into lumber.

Ethan figured Li Bai and Miyamoto Musashi probably weren't even this awesome, right?

Just hacking around with an axe and he could turn trees into wood.

Suddenly, Ethan even started to feel a little smug.

He'd done something Li Bai and Miyamoto Musashi couldn't do.

He really was a bit cooler.

After he chopped a huge hollowed-out chunk into the whole forest.

Ethan obtained: Wood +308, Advanced Wood +6, Vines +152, Resin +168, Withered Branches +502.

"Eh?"

"When did I chop Advanced wood?"

Ethan was a bit dumbfounded, "This axe is just too strong."

He didn't even realize he'd chopped any trees that were hard to chop, yet there were suddenly 6 pieces of Advanced Wood in the warehouse.

Really was a pleasant surprise.

But looking at it from another angle.

The ratio of ordinary wood to Advanced wood was really too low, close to 50:1.

If he had to find them one by one on his own, the difficulty was way too high. Unless his luck exploded.

Like that day when he suddenly found a whole patch of ancient banyan trees, or found a whole patch of good trees like golden-thread or rosewood, only then could he get materials like Advanced Wood.

But those kinds of trees also weren't common in the forest. Unless he was lucky enough to run into a big patch.

Otherwise, if he wanted to get a large amount of Advanced Wood all in one go… It was still very difficult.

"So weird, I've chopped down this many trees already, how come I still can't find that Silver Treasure Chest?"

Even though he'd harvested quite a lot.

What puzzled Ethan was, he'd chopped down hundreds of trees already, so how the hell had he still not found the Silver Treasure Chest?

Suddenly, Ethan saw a red exclamation mark not far ahead.

But when he looked closely, he almost died of rage.

[Can't find it, can you?]

"Damn!"

The system was mocking him.

Ethan couldn't be bothered with it and kept walking a loop forward.

When he got close to a clearing in the forest, he suddenly received another prompt from the system.

[If I were you, I wouldn't think about going near the pool of water up ahead. That's an acid pool formed from accumulated acid water. There lives a group of highly poisonous Poison Dart Frogs inside, and they can shoot water arrows Once you get hit, you'll be dead from poisoning within seven seconds.]

"Whoa!"

Ethan saw the prompt and immediately took half a step back.

Only now did he finally hear the cries of those poison dart frogs.

"Croak~ Croak~"

They sounded like totally harmless frog calls.

If not for the prompt, Ethan would never have imagined that a group of frogs could be this vicious.

"Maybe I should just go around."

However, just as Ethan was about to back away.

Out of the corner of his eye he happened to see a big dead tree beside the acid pool, and at the base of the tree there was a tree hole, with little flickers of silver light.

'Damn!'

'Such a coincidence?'

Ethan stared, and the thing inside that dead tree hole really was a Silver Treasure Chest.

So it looked like he had no choice but to fight.

But how was he supposed to deal with a whole group of frogs in the pool?

Ethan picked up a stone and threw it toward the acid pool.

Whoosh!

Whoosh! Whoosh!

The stone had just gotten close to the acid pool when it was shot by several water arrows.

Immediately the surface of the stone started smoking green, and very soon most of it was dissolved.

In the end, the stone that had been dissolved down to only two-thirds of its original size fell into the acid pool.

A cloud of white smoke rose up, lifting from the surface of the water and drifting away.

Whether it was the acid pool or the poison dart frogs, the toxicity was seriously strong.

Going head-on against these little things was way too dangerous.

But… at the moment the poison dart frogs sprayed their poisonous water arrows, they also exposed their locations.

And since Ethan had precise vision, it was naturally very easy for him to lock onto the positions of five or six poison dart frogs. He directly drew his bow and set an Explosive Bronze Arrow.

Just right to test his new weapon on this group of poison dart frogs.

Whoosh!

The Explosive Arrow shot out at high speed, aiming at a poison dart frog in the center of the pool.

Whoosh!

Whoosh! Whoosh!

The poison dart frogs discovered an intruder and immediately fired more water arrows.

But because the Explosive Arrow was several times faster than the stone, none of those water arrows from the poison dart frogs could hit it. They all just brushed past the Explosive Arrow. Occasionally a bit of water vapor splashed on the Explosive Arrow, but it didn't really affect it much.

BANG!

The Explosive Arrow dodged all the water arrows and hit the bullseye.

It shot straight into the poison dart frog in the pool, and the next second, the poison dart frog exploded apart.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

And the exploded poison dart frog was just like scattered bombs.

Wherever the poison dart frog's flesh and blood landed, it triggered a chain of explosions, and several other poison dart frogs were blown up into the air by the Explosive Arrow's shockwave.

In the span of a single blink, the acid pool that had been relatively clear now turned into a complete mess.

Countless bits of flesh and mud directly contaminated the entire acid pool into a murky mess. Ethan stared at the muddy acid pool, wanting to see if there were any poison dart frogs left inside.

But suddenly he saw another small red exclamation mark.

[Discovered 12 dead poison dart frog corpses, decompose?]

"Decompose!"

[Beast Tendons +12]

[Water-element Beast Cores +12]

[Acid Water 100 units, collect?]

"Collect!"

With the poison dart frogs dead.

He hadn't expected the acid water to actually turn into a resource too, "Not bad. Not bad."

Even though Ethan had no use for it for now, if he used this stuff to fight monsters, or made some kind of acid-water bombs as weapons.

That scene would be too beautiful, he didn't even dare imagine it.

After dealing with the poison dart frogs in the acid pool, Ethan finally walked over to the big dead tree, ready to open the chest.

The stuff in a Silver Treasure Chest was all a notch better than in a Bronze Treasure Chest.

Who knew what he'd get this time.

But thanks to the experience from last time's [Scare Box], now whenever Ethan opened a treasure chest, he would be more careful. He'd first check if any red exclamation marks showed up before opening it.

After carefully checking a circle and making sure there was no danger at all.

Only then did Ethan open the Silver Treasure Chest.
