Adelia's head remained lowered as she clutched her stomach protectively, her face a deep scarlet.
Why did this always choose to happen in front of him?!
"I'm... just feeling a little hungry," Adelia managed weakly in her defense, that was the only way she could downplay the loud rumble that had escaped her stomach.
Azel chuckled. "That certainly didn't sound like 'a little,' Milady," he quipped, causing Adelia to blush even more, if that was even possible. "How come you're so hungry? Didn't you have dinner?"
Adelia hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. "I haven't... I haven't had anything to eat since morning."
"What?" Azel's expression turned bewildered. "Why?"
Adelia paused. "I didn't have the appetite."
Azel suddenly felt an urge to slap himself for asking such a thoughtless question.
He sighed. "Then what will you do?" he inquired. "All the servants have gone to sleep, and I doubt there are any leftovers in your kitchen at this hour."
