Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Parasyte Instance

While the outside world was abuzz with commotion, Roy and Ryuu had already rushed into a new instance.

The most difficult Great Feat was achieved, and the only thing left was to max out his ability scores. Roy couldn't wait another moment. As soon as his injuries recovered, he eagerly took the Elven girl to start the instance.

After all, he didn't have to do the actual work.

Instance: ParasyteDifficulty: LV.2 ~ LV.4 Introduction: Mysterious, emotionless, and cold-blooded insects appear, drilling into organisms, taking over the brain, and lurking in human society to hunt humans. High-rise buildings stood tall, traffic flowed continuously on the streets, and crowds surged, showcasing the prosperity of a modern metropolis.

Roy and Ryuu walked out of an alley in a commercial street, immediately drawing the attention of many people. Their unique adventurer clothing was too eye-catching.

"What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen cosplay?" Roy grumbled at the people around him.

Hearing this, the pedestrians showed a flash of realization. Their gaze lingered on the beautiful Elven girl for a moment, and then they went back to their own business.

Compared to the Titan world, Ryuu could openly show her face in this modern society.

Generally, no one dared to touch her, especially since sexual harassment was a serious crime in this island nation.

"What is cosplay?"

"It's dressing up as your favorite character in everyday life, just like the Pallum race likes to cosplay the Hero of their kind, Finn. In this realm, Elves are considered legendary, so they think you're portraying one."

Ryuu understood, but she was a genuine Elf, not some fake!

Precisely because she was genuine, the Elf's beautiful figure and appearance outshone many big stars on screen, quickly attracting several young men with dyed, light hair.

"Hey, cutie, you're really beautiful. Where are you from?"

The blond youths surrounded Ryuu.

A look of cold disgust crossed Ryuu's face.

"Brothers, let's talk for a moment!" Roy stepped forward, putting his arm around one of their shoulders, smiling.

Roy forcefully escorted the youths into the alley they had just emerged from. A series of horrific wails immediately erupted inside.

When Roy walked out, he was holding forty or fifty thousand Japanese Yen. He curled his lip. Poor scum who can't afford their next meal, daring to try and pick up girls with this much money.

The two walked along the commercial street.

Ryuu was extremely curious about everything in modern society, like a country bumpkin in a grand garden. She touched things here and looked over there, occasionally asking Roy about things like TV shows and cars. But the frequent stares made her uncomfortable.

Suddenly, Ryuu stopped, her sky-blue eyes fixed on a green windbreaker in a shop window.

"I want that jacket."

"Buy it!"

Roy didn't hesitate, immediately paying. Since the money was just extorted, he didn't feel bad about spending it.

A moment later, Ryuu emerged. The loose windbreaker enveloped her petite and delicate body, and the hood covered her head, finally making her less conspicuous.

Unable to see the Elven girl's golden, wheat-like hair and pointed ears, Roy regretted buying her the jacket a little.

"I will pay you back for the clothes," the Elven girl said seriously, looking at Roy.

Roy replied, "Don't worry about it. It's nothing."

The Elven girl's attitude, however, was exceptionally firm. She took out a small notebook and meticulously recorded the amount.

Roy didn't bother to stop her. He was busy figuring out how to find the Parasytes. These monsters hid in human society and could freely change their shape and face.

It wouldn't be easy to root them out.

He had two choices:

Shinichi Izumi, who had a symbiotic relationship with a Parasyte, or humans capable of sensing the Parasyte's special wavelength.

He had to choose the softest persimmon to squeeze.

Roy undoubtedly chose the latter. He asked a passerby for directions to Kita High School. He and the Elven girl walked all the way to a school in the town.

Fortunately, schools in this island nation ended classes early, so they didn't have to wait too long. About half an hour later, the bell rang, and students began streaming out.

"Kimishima Kana from 11th grade is my older sister. Could you tell me where I can find her?" Roy occasionally stopped a student, flashing a bright, sunny smile.

"..." Ryuu thought this person was a complete liar. She had felt the same way in the Titan instance.

His ability to lie without a change in facial expression was masterful, making him a true veteran actor.

However, Roy's handsome face and sunny smile made it easy for people to let down their guard. A simple 10th-grade girl was fooled. "Kimishima-senpai from 11th grade? I'll go call her for you."

Seven or eight minutes later, the black-haired, long-ponytailed girl walked out of the school gate angrily with a group of people. Her gaze swept around, locked onto Roy, and she quickly strode over.

"Was it you? You've got guts!"

Kana Kimishima's tone was icy. She had no younger brother, so she instantly saw through his lie.

Roy dropped his bright, sunny smile. "Miss Kimishima, let's talk in private."

Kana Kimishima froze slightly, sensing a hint of danger. Under normal circumstances, a liar would immediately run away after being exposed...

"Hey kid, don't get ahead of yourself!"

Behind Kana Kimishima was a young man named Mitsuo, with stubble, looking like a typical street punk. A ruthless expression crossed his face as he reached out to grab Roy.

However, Roy was faster.

Roy grabbed his wrist and gently pulled him, causing the youth's body to flip instantly. With a thud, his back hit the ground with a heavy impact.

Mitsuo was dazed by the fall, his pupils wide. He was considered a good fighter in this area, but he couldn't even see Roy's movements. They were too fast!

"Bastard!"

Three or four other youths behind Mitsuo charged forward.

Ryuu didn't need to intervene. Roy, even with residual injuries, easily dealt with them.

In less than ten seconds, wails of agony covered the ground.

The fight scared the surrounding students, who turned pale. They looked at Roy with fear. Mitsuo was a notorious delinquent at school, yet this stranger had single-handedly taken down several of his people.

A terrifying power seemed to lurk within that body.

The school guard also hid far away. Why risk your life for a few hundred dollars of salary? Just call the police, and that's enough to justify the pay.

Roy smiled and said, "Let's go!"

Kana Kimishima had no power to refuse. She slipped her hand into her pocket and sent the message she had just edited on her phone to Shinichi Izumi.

Roy noticed her small action but said nothing. If Shinichi Izumi came, it would be a double blessing!

Shinichi Izumi had a Parasyte residing in his right hand, and Kana Kimishima possessed an extraordinary ability to sense the approaching special wavelength of Parasytes.
