Chapter 4 - Ch - 4: I am inside a demon's body

I am Shiro Kami now…

Guild A leader.

The man they call "The White God."

But the truth is far from holy.

Shiro Kami is secretly a demon.

And after everything that happened…

I'm living inside of a demon's body.

Karl is now Shiro lay asleep in the enormous bed of the Guild A mansion. But as he turned, he froze.

There was somebody else sleeping beside him.

A girl.

Sleeping inches away.

His heart jumped, "W-Why is there a girl sleeping next to me!?" He whispered, his face burning red all he wanted to jump out of the bed, but he couldn't risk doing anything that would mess up Shiro's life… or bring suspicion.

Then—

Her hand touched his...

A soft inhale.

A deeper breath.

The air was filled with a faint strawberry-like scent… sweet, addictive, dangerous.

Karl felt his demon body react in a way he couldn't control.

"N-No, no… I can't do anything stupid," he muttered, his hand trying to slip free.

But she hugged him closer, really closer..

He ceased struggling and she then muttered in her sleep, "Don't go… don't go… don't go…"

"She's sleep talking…" her voice felt worried, and trembling, "Shiro… don't lose your hope open your eyes… don't close them…" her tone now lost… to listen to her anyone could tell the fear in it… it felt like her heart had been close to break.

Karl sighed softly and allowed her to cling to him.

He lightly closed his eyes and drifted to sleep again, letting her do whatever she needed to feel safe.

At Morning.

A cool breeze caressed his skin by which he felt… lighter. So he promptly sat up.

"Wait—" something was odd, "did we… did something happen!?"

Karl shot a frantic glance about the bed.

She was gone.

No warmth beside him.

Not a trace of her fragrance.

And then he realized—

"WHERE ARE MY CLOTHES!?"

She stepped out of the bathroom, drying her long red hair with a towel. Water droplets slid down her shoulders, catching the sunlight.

"Ah, you woke up," she whispered.

Karl was genuinely shocked he was frozen.

She was… incredibly gorgeous.

Red hair, cat-like sharp eyes, and a gentle smile.

For a moment, he forgot to breathe… and also that he was stark naked.

"I changed your bandages," she said matter-of-factly.

"So that's why I'm naked… thank god we didn't do anything," Karl mumbled under his breath, letting out a sigh of relief. No adult stuff before marriage. Good.

She stepped closer.

"You look different today, shiro."

"M-me? D-different? N-no," he was backing away dodging her but the more he was backing up the more she kept walking closer him, wrapped in her towel, her face close enough that he could feel her warm breath and fragrance.

Shiro's face turned red as a tomato.

She touched his forehead, "Are you feeling unwell?"

She's so close… Is it okay? Are girls supposed to come this close to strange men this casually? I-I can't handle this… his brain was overheating, then another realization hit him.

He didn't even know who she is.

"Umm… who're you?"

This felt strange, her expression changed in a split second, "What? You don't… remember me?" She looked carefully at him, as if confirming something. Is he really the Shiro?

Perhaps the incident during the dungeon attack damaged his memory… she thought.

"I am your wife," she said softly, "kyla."

...

...

...

Silence.

It was a really long silence.

Karl's soul has departed his body.

Shiro… was MARRIED?

ME? I MEAN, HE WAS. M-MARRIED?? It was unbelievable for him that he married to a human.

Shiro forced a jolting, quavering laugh.

"A-ha-ha… yes, yes. Of course. You're my wife. How… how are you, my dear wife?"

...

...

...

More silence. The question was not necessary but it created an embrassing silence then-her towel fell off.

"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" No, it wasn't Kyla screaming.

It was Karl.

"PUT THAT BACK!! PUT THAT BACK!! PUT THAT BACK!!" Shiro's eyes were closed that he seemed to be begging for mercy.

"Ah—!" Shiro fainted backward onto the bed, red-faced, his heart racing like a drum.

"What happened, Shiro? Shiro… Shiro…"

...

...

...

Kyla shook him lightly, her voice was shaking in concern. She though it was because of the last injury he had.

But Shiro which now Karl was already unconscious.

He hadn't fainted from injury.

Not from magic.

Not from danger.

He fainted because he saw a naked woman for the first time.

It was his first time experiencing something like that, and Karl's shy heart simply couldn't handle that overload.

Coming back to consciousness.

"Was that… a dream? Don't ever have dreams like that again…" karl muttered to himself, and he sees Kyla who was sitting beside him, cheeks red, arms crossed.

She was dressed now, an elegant outfit made from shimmering snakeskin, with delicate butterfly wings attached at her back. Her nails looked sharp like cat claws, and her red eyes remained as intense as ever.

She leaned forward and stared at him closely, checking to see if he was finally conscious.

And karl Still embarrassed shut his eyes.

"Don't open your eyes. DON'T open your eyes. I'm not ready to look at her again. Please no…"

But the problem was—His heart betrayed him.

Badump~

Badump~

BadumpBadumpBadump~

His heartbeat grew loud and quicker, like a drum being smashed.

Kyla could hear it clear enough.

She put her hand gently over his chest to calm him. But that only made things worse.

Panic overtook him, his heart was on the verge to explode

"I'm gonna die. My heart is literally going to explode. At this rate she'll know I'm not the real Shiro! I have to act like him… I HAVE TO!

Desperately Karl reached inside himself for anything that would help him be Shiro.

And then—

He found it.

A big bundle of memories, floating in a pitch-black void in his mind.

He touches it.

BOOM!!!

The bundle burst open like a dying star, scattering myriads of lights around him.

The darkness transformed into a vast cosmic space—shimmering galaxies, swirling nebulae, and infinite glittering stars.

Each star was a memory.

Each spark retained a piece of Shiro's memory.

"So this is his mind… This is Shiro's world," Karl whispered to himself roaming here and there to find and know about the real shiro.

He reached out toward the starlit memories as they floated around him like constellations waiting to be read.

Shiro opened his eyes and this time, he didn't panic.

He pushed himself up and sat beside Kyla, keeping his expression calm, even though Karl inside was dying from embarrassment.

With a low, modulated voice, he said, "I'm so sorry for my behavior earlier. Please… forget it."

Kyla smiled tenderly..

Gently she leaned in closer. Karl panicked inwardly because she was getting closer again.

NO PLEASE—outside, he activated Shiro's intimidating aura, the kind that silenced entire rooms. It allowed him to hide his racing heartbeat and trembling soul.

He remained still.

Calm. Cold. Just like the real Shiro.

And then, Kyla's eyes softened. "That's better."

Knock. Knock.

Shiro lifted his hand light to the door— and it opened on its own. Standing there was 'Slade.'

"Sir," he bowed and then he told him, "there's an S–Level Dungeon."

A spark raced through Karl's soul: fear mixed with excitement.

From B-level dungeon to direct S-Level Dungeon.

The place where Shiro's team always received hidden rewards… rewards no one else in the world even knew existed. This was his chance. He rose with Shiro's signature confidence. "Let's go." He took a step forward. "Ah—" Slade froze. Then he slowly backed out of the room and closed the door.

Because Shiro… wasn't wearing pants. Slade's ears turned red. His expression screamed: "I'm so sorry to disturb you… I didn't know you were in the middle of… husband-and-wife activities…" The door clicked shut.

Shiro stared at the door, horrified. Kyla covered her face. And Shiro let out a deadpan whisper: "…this is misunderstanding."
