[WARNING — DISTURBING IMAGERY]
They descended from the fourth floor in the elevator. The blind man had the key. Their car takes 4 people, with the blind man, they needed another. The ones in the garage were a bad option. It would be hard to get to the gate, through the wreckage. They only took a key to use one of the cars outside the walls.
They moVed on the ashy sand. Through death. Through destruction. The gate was a few steps away when the blind man suddenly stopped. A strange sense of urgency gripped him. As if sensing something no one else could. He couldn't see, but he felt a presence emitting from a nearby rock. "It's here." he whispered.
The rock was near the gate, slightly outside the perimeter, around the size of a skull. It was not fully black yet. A strong violet hue still covered it. The blind man heard it calling him. Something within it, a soul maybe, a primal energy yearning to break free.
Without hesitation, the blind man sprinted towards the rock. In that moment, clarity engulfed him, transcending his physical limitations. With a quick kick, he sent the rock flying towards the four men.
As the rock soared, something began to emerge. The air bent around it. A shadow swelled upwards like smoke. It gathered into a dark mass, roughly the size of three people, floating effortlessly in the air. A cloud of silk-like material danced and swirled with the wind.
A mask surfaced from the center of the cloud. A grooved metallic violet skull with hollow eyes. It shined in the sunlight, hovering silently. Watching. Choosing.
The group froze. Their eyes widened with shock. Alfred had seen such being before. It didn't make it any better. Egon didn't panic, the camera footage prepared him for this moment. Wagner and Kastner panicked and opened fire. Their bullets passed through the cloud as if cutting through mist.
The creature scanned the group for a few heart-stopping seconds. Then it chose.
Alfred was the nearest to the creature, but it had no interest in him. The mask turned to Wagner.
Wagner's eyes widened in fear and his pupils dilated. He stood frozen in his place, unable to turn his eyes away. His body became immobilized by an unseen force coming from that creature.
Rays of violet light shot out of the fragment's hollow eyes into wagner's, sinking him to his knees, paralyzed as his consciousness slipped away, held only by the pull of the fragment's light. He tried to scream. He couldn't. His body was no longer his.
Egon lunged forward and Alfred followed trying to pull him away. They couldn't. His hands trembled at the dirt until they stopped. He was already gone. Even Alfred, who had once saved ten soldiers from such situation, found himself powerless against this one fragment.
They didn't want to do this, but they had no other option. They had to leave.
They grabbed the blind man and hurried to one of the vehicles outside. Without looking back, they drove away.
(if you don't understand some the things that just happened, then i have moved the bonus cards later. Just wait.)
The ride to the station was brief, 10 minutes. No one spoke. No one could. The silent hum of the engine was the only sound, heard.
