Chapter 62 - Chapter 61 : Curious Orario

The morning after the dinner at the Hostess of Fertility, Riveria could not get Orion out of her mind. While most members of her familia were intrigued by the new goddess of Orario who rivaled Freya in beauty—some even saying she was more beautiful—they were not wrong. That divine golden grace was something else entirely. However, for Riveria, it was Orion who occupied her thoughts.

Her claim that he might have a possible link to the elven royal bloodline was no joke. She would never joke about something like that.

And then there was his goddess.

Marika.

An unknown deity. No records. No stories from Heaven. Nothing.

That alone was reason enough to investigate.

Riveria did not suspect evil. Loki Familia had no intention of targeting the boy or the goddess. That wasn't their work. They weren't that kind of familia. Ganesha Familia handled such matters.

But knowledge was power. And power required understanding.

Especially when personal curiosity was at stake.

So she decided to visit the Guild, her presence alone causing several people to step aside.

"Good morning, Lady Riveria," one staff member greeted politely.

"Good morning," she replied.

Her sharp green eyes quickly found who she was looking for—Eina, the same half-elf girl who had been with that boy last night. Someone she personally knew, as both had graduated from the same academy.

Riveria approached her desk.

"Miss Tulle."

Eina looked up and smiled. "Lady Riveria! Is something wrong?"

"I would like to speak with you privately."

Eina blinked in surprise but nodded. "O-Of course. Please follow me."

They moved into a small side room meant for private consultations.

Once the door closed, Eina sat nervously across from Riveria.

"Is this about Loki Familia's reports?" she asked.

"No," Riveria said calmly. "I am here out of personal curiosity. What do you know about the boy named Orion whom you were with yesterday?"

Eina stiffened slightly, though only for a second. She had known that sooner or later people would come asking.

"I see…"

What followed was a series of questions and answers, which Eina replied to as best as she could, even though she was not entitled to disclose anything to Riveria. However, Riveria was the closest thing to true elven royalty. There was no way she could simply deny her.

Even so, Eina held back certain details. She never revealed what Orion was truly capable of—something only she knew. How quickly he had cleared the Dungeon so far. His rate of growth. That he had arrived in Orario only a week ago. And definitely nothing about his stats or his recent level up. As his advisor and someone with a vested interest in his future, she stayed quiet on those matters.

Riveria, too, did not overreach her bounds. She knew perfectly well that Eina was entitled to tell her nothing. It was only her status that allowed her access to request a meeting like this.

If not for Loki's insistence and her own curiosity driving her, she would never have come unannounced.

"His bearing resembles elven nobility. Yet he is human. You felt it too, didn't you? There was something different about that boy. Something…" Riveria searched for the right word.

Eina hesitated for a second before adding, "Something similar to home."

Riveria blinked, and as if she had found the missing piece of a puzzle, nodded in a daze.

"Yes. Like home," she replied softly.

"You need not fear," Riveria said gently. "Loki Familia has no hostile intent. However, an unknown god entering Orario without history or record is… concerning."

Eina sighed softly. "I understand."

Riveria's eyes sharpened slightly.

"Do you know where they came from?"

"No," Eina admitted honestly. "Orion never speaks clearly about his homeland. And Lady Marika… she hasn't attended any gatherings except the mandatory ones."

"So she keeps to herself."

"Very much so. At least as far as I know."

Riveria tapped her finger lightly against the table.

"Has Orion displayed hostility? Suspicious behavior?"

Eina shook her head quickly. "No! He's reckless sometimes, but he's kind. He helps people."

Riveria studied her face carefully.

Eina was sincere.

After a moment, Riveria nodded. "I see. Thank you, Miss Tulle. That will be all."

Eina looked relieved. "You're… not planning anything, right?"

Riveria stood gracefully.

"We merely prepare for all possibilities," she said calmly. "You need not worry. Not only as a member of Loki Familia, but in my name as Riveria Ljos Alf… I assure you I have no hostile intent toward the boy. If anything, I would rather protect him. He may truly be the last remaining bloodline of the ancient royal elves."

Her tone carried genuine hope.

She meant it. If he had not already joined a familia, she would have offered him a place in Loki Familia last night.

With that, the High Elf of Loki Familia left the Guild Hall—her curiosity satisfied for now.

But not before she noticed the very boy she had been interested in since yesterday entering the Guild. With the poise of a high-born elf, she gave him a nod and her most elegant smile before departing.

The gesture left the boy confused—and slightly cautious.

As for Eina, she could only hope Lady Riveria would keep her word.

[Babel Tower]

High above Orario, inside her private chamber at the top of Babel Tower, Freya could not rest.

She sat upon her bed, silk sheets tangled around her legs. Her breathing was uneven. A deep flush colored her pale skin.

"Orion."

His image refused to leave her mind. More than that, it was the golden grace of his soul that captivated her.

To others, he was simply a promising adventurer.

But to Freya—who could see souls—he was the only true light among the millions of dull lamps wandering the city.

A radiant gold. Not dull like the others.

His soul's color was rich, deep, brilliant gold—a shade that shimmered with strength, potential, and something almost otherworldly.

And after his recent level up… that golden light had grown even brighter. Freya, of course, did not know about the level up. However, the increased brilliance of his soul was proof enough of growth.

Freya pressed a hand against her chest, her fingers trailing slowly across her skin. Her body trembled.

"So beautiful…" she whispered.

Her mind replayed the dinner at the Hostess of Fertility. The way he spoke. The way he carried himself. That careless confidence.

Her hips shifted slightly against the sheets as heat pooled low in her stomach.

"My golden child…"

Her breathing grew heavier.

But then—

Like cold water poured over fire—

Another image appeared beside him.

That golden goddess.

Freya frowned. The warmth in her veins twisted into something sharper. Jealousy.

Her nails pressed into the silk sheets. At first, she had thought Marika's soul lingering around Orion was merely a spirit. When she had first seen the presence surrounding his soul, she had assumed as much.

But it was not.

She had felt it clearly.

She possessed Divine Arcanum. She was a goddess.

If Marika had been mortal, Freya might have claimed her too—kept her close alongside Orion.

But a goddess?

No.

She had no desire for another deity.

Just as her body began to move again, heat returning—

A knock sounded at the door, making her freeze.

Her expression darkened with annoyance.

"Enter," she said calmly, though faint irritation lingered in her voice.

The door opened.

Ottar stepped inside, calm and imposing as always.

"My Lady," he said respectfully. "The information you requested."

Freya adjusted herself slowly, regaining her composure.

"Speak."

Ottar handed her a file.

"Orion appeared one week ago. No prior records. He is currently residing at Hestia's church, which stands on Hephaestus Familia property. The Guild has no record of Marika."

The file contained everything they had managed to gather regarding Orion.

Freya had long ago asked Ottar to investigate him. However, before yesterday, she had not even known his name. She had only glimpsed him once.

Only after last night did she learn enough to properly request a full investigation.
