Chapter 60 - Chapter 59 : Repair Trip

Once the experiment was over and Naaza had finally stopped staring at her new arm like it might vanish, Orion took his leave from Miach Familia's pharmacy.

Well, not before explaining everything about the partnership he had planned for her and Miach Familia in general. This, of course, needed her god's permission, and thus she couldn't make any decision herself.

And this entire talk didn't even include how much Orion would be paying in commission to Miach Familia for handling all the clients and keeping his real identity secret.

Orion had a feeling that Naaza wouldn't settle for anything less than 10% to 15%, which was already very good in terms of this deal since Orion was the only person currently who could restore limbs in Orario.

"Don't die before we talk business," Naaza called out as he stepped outside.

"Don't worry, death doesn't work on me," he replied casually.

"…Keep talking like that and you'll die a horrible one," Naaza snorted. Not cursing him or anything—just looking out for him in her own way. At least that's what Orion hoped.

He waved and headed down the street.

His next destination was simple: repairs.

Even though the weapons he received from his system were absurdly durable, they were not indestructible. Two months in another world—fighting monsters daily, constant battles, and that final clash against Beldia—had taken their toll.

His Uchigatana had small chips along the edge. His shield bore cracks hidden beneath the surface. It was time to have them repaired before they went past the point of repairability.

"And maybe… a little shopping," he muttered to himself, recalling dozens of little things he was missing during his adventures—like a map. Though he seemed to not need one, having one was still good. A vest to keep small things on himself, since he couldn't always take things out of his inventory in front of others.

A light or a lamp. Disinfectant, since he couldn't use his potions for every little thing all the time. And many more little items along those lines. Then there were some other important things, like a pair of extra-big and extra-strong underwear.

'Yeah, too much,' he grumbled.

He first walked into one of the most famous weapon shops in Orario—run by the Hephaestus Familia.

The moment he entered, polished steel gleamed under warm light. Swords hung neatly on the walls. Spears, axes, shields—all crafted beautifully.

And all extremely expensive.

A tall elf attendant approached him with a professional smile. Or perhaps there was something more that attracted her. Elves seemed to do that around him. "Welcome. Are you looking for something specific?" she asked, standing a little too close to call it professional. It seemed even she didn't realize that.

"Something strong," Orion said, scanning the shelves. More specifically, the number of zeros behind every item.

She showed him a longsword. "Forged by a Level 3 smith. Only three million valis."

Orion blinked.

"Only?"

She nodded proudly.

He picked it up and tested the balance.

It was good.

Very good.

Then he mentally compared it to the Golden Order Greatsword sitting comfortably in his inventory.

"…Not even comparable."

"I beg your pardon?"

"Nothing," he said quickly, placing it back.

He checked another blade. Then another shield.

All impressive.

All expensive.

All slightly worse than what he already had.

He had the money. He really did. After Konosuba and recent rewards, he wasn't poor anymore.

But paying a fortune for weaker gear felt stupid.

He sighed.

"Thank you for your time," he said politely and left.

Leaving the pretty elf looking at him with both confusion and longing.

Outside, he scratched his head, sighing at the absurdity of it all.

"If these were their top-of-the-line weapons, then I don't need any. Anything from here would only be a downgrade."

He needed repairs, not overpriced decorations.

Then he remembered.

Eina once mentioned a more affordable place. As long as he could get his repairs done, he was content.

So he made a quick trip back to the Guild.

The moment he entered, he saw Eina speaking with another elf he recognized as Riveria. The green-haired elf seemed to be talking with Eina. When she glanced at him, she gave him a soft smile before leaving the guild hall.

'What was that about?'

Eina looked up the moment he approached her desk.

"You're back already?" she asked.

"I need a recommendation," he said, not planning on asking what business the green-haired elven beauty had with her. Sometimes not being nosy keeps one's sanity intact.

"An affordable blacksmith. Good quality."

She smiled slightly. "Ah. Finally learning to budget?"

Orion blinked at that. 'Budget? Why is she talking like I always overspend? If anything, I might be the most frugal person in this city at this rate…'

But then he realized that in front of her, he did indeed spend more. Especially when treating her. He hadn't held back yesterday.

"I just refused to spend three million on something weaker than what I have."

She blinked. "Weaker?"

"…Long story."

She pulled out a small note and wrote down directions. "Try Babel Tower. There's a workshop run by a dwarf. They're apprentice blacksmiths working under both Hephaestus and Goibnui. But don't let the apprentice status fool you—they are very skilled and have reasonable prices."

"You're not coming with me?" he asked casually.

Eina hesitated. "I would love to… but I'm still on duty."

He glanced at the clock.

"I plan to visit the Dungeon later today," he said. "Can't wait. Sorry."

She frowned slightly. "You just got back."

"I just rested," he replied.

She gave him a look that clearly said you're impossible.

"Fine," she sighed. "But be careful. And make sure you keep a low profile. After last night's dinner, there are many eyes on you." Eina warned, her eyes flickering toward the door where Riveria had just left.

"Yes, ma'am." Orion nodded immediately.

"…Don't call me that."

He grinned and left.

'Seems like I was right to be cautious…'

Soon he arrived at Babel Tower. The massive structure loomed over the city as always, adventurers moving in and out like ants.

The blacksmith workshop wasn't as fancy as Hephaestus Familia's shop. It was loud. Messy. The sound of hammer striking metal rang constantly.

A burly dwarf with a thick beard glanced up as Orion entered.

"What do you want?" the dwarf asked bluntly.

"Repairs," Orion said, placing his shield on the counter first.

The dwarf lifted it.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"Hmm."

Then Orion placed the Uchigatana down.

The dwarf froze.

He picked it up slowly, examining the blade carefully. He ran a thumb near the edge without fully touching it.

"…Where did you get this?" the dwarf asked.

"Found it," Orion replied immediately.

"Found it," the dwarf repeated flatly.

"Dungeon drop."

The dwarf snorted. "The Dungeon doesn't drop work like this."

Orion shrugged. "Lucky me then…"

The dwarf studied him for a long moment.

"This blade… the metal is strange. The balance. The forging pattern. Not made in Orario."

"So you can't repair it?" Orion asked in a disgruntled tone.

"Huh? There is nothing in this city I can't repair, boy," the dwarf shot back.

"…Do it then."

The dwarf grunted but did not push further.

"And the shield," he continued. "Same thing. Strange craftsmanship."

"Can you fix them?" Orion asked.

The dwarf stroked his beard. "Yes."

"How long?"

"A few days."

"A few—? I need them today."

The dwarf barked a laugh. "You want quality or speed?"

Orion paused.

"…Quality."

"Good answer."

The dwarf leaned forward slightly. "I'll need time. And I'll need to study them."

There it was.

Orion smirked faintly. "Study all you want. Just don't break them."

The dwarf looked almost offended. "Break them? Boy, I'm a craftsman."

"Relax, relax."

They agreed on a price—reasonable. Very reasonable compared to Hephaestus' shop.

Orion paid upfront.

As he turned to leave, the dwarf called out, "Kid."

Orion glanced back.

"Don't die before I finish. I want to see how you use that blade."

Orion grinned. "You'll get your show."

He stepped back out into the sunlight.

Weaponless for the moment—but not helpless. He still had system gear in reserve.

He stretched his shoulders slightly.

"Alright," he muttered.

Time to visit the Dungeon.
