Chapter 119 - Chapter 117: Brynden Rivers' Conspiracy

While Mufasa was receiving the Greenseer's inheritance, Eddard Stark arrived at Castle Black. He met with Ser Kevan and Lord Commander Mormont.

"My lords, what is the current situation?"

"Lord Eddard, the Seven Castles are almost fully repaired. Once they are, we can fully focus on defending against enemy invasions. We won't have to worry about them using ropes and grappling hooks to climb over the Wall anymore," said the Old Bear.

"As for Mufasa, we haven't sent anyone out to search for him because the Red Priestess he brought said Mufasa is safe and will definitely return. She said that if we were to send out Rangers to find him, it would be a fruitless endeavor," Ser Kevan said.

After a moment of contemplation, Eddard Stark decided to meet Melisandre.

However, when he saw Melisandre, she was working with Gendry and Charcoal Fire Dragon Colt, forging arrowheads.

Forging only valyrian steel arrowheads was the most practical way to deal with the Others.

"Madam!"

Eddard Stark called out in front of the forge.

The two people and one horse stopped their movements and turned to look at him.

Eddard Stark felt an indescribable sensation in his heart as they watched him, even though the members of House Stark had long faces.

But being watched by a sentient horse was still too strange.

"Lord Eddard! Are you here to replace Mufasa? But he isn't dead yet; he's in a mysterious place right now!" Melisandre said.

"A mysterious place? Where?" he asked.

"Come in, I'll let you see in the fire," she said.

Eddard Stark walked into the smithy; the temperature inside was much higher than outside, with waves of heat rolling out.

Melisandre sprinkled something into the forge fire, and flames suddenly erupted, startling Eddard Stark back a few steps.

"Do not be afraid, watch with your heart, all secrets are in the fire." Her voice was like a heavenly melody, calming Eddard Stark's mood.

In the flames, Eddard Stark seemed to see Mufasa eating nuts in a dim tree hollow. He smashed the nuts with a stone, one after another.

After smashing all the nuts in his hand, Mufasa seemed to sense something and looked at Brynden Rivers, who had his eyes closed.

"Is someone watching here?"

"Indeed, but there's no ill will, perhaps they are looking for you, Mufasa!" Brynden Rivers said.

"Can I see them?" Mufasa asked.

"No. You cannot see them, they can only see you, but once you become a Greenseer, you can go to all timelines and see anyone you wish to see."

"How much longer will that be?" Mufasa asked.

"Soon, very soon!" Brynden Rivers' lips curved slightly upward, as if something good was about to happen.

Mufasa suddenly felt a change in the tree roots on his wrist. The roots seemed to be taking root and sprouting in his flesh and blood, their tendrils constantly surging and advancing through Mufasa's flesh.

"Ahhh!" Mufasa screamed in pain.

"You!"

"What do you want to do?" Mufasa demanded sharply.

Unbeknownst to Mufasa, Brynden Rivers had already freed himself from the embrace of the tree roots.

A mysterious smile played on his lips.

"You are my substitute, bearing this pain for me, this is the price! Mufasa, do not resist. Although you will become immobile later, your thoughts can fly to the ends of the earth," Brynden Rivers said.

The surrounding tree roots gradually enveloped Mufasa, forming a huge egg shape, and Brynden Rivers finally broke free from the Greenseer's shackles.

He walked into a fork in the tree hollow, and from a crack in the roots, he drew out a longsword called "Dark Sister."

"I can finally see the light of day again, hahahaha. Where are the Bloodraven Guards?" Brynden Rivers called out.

Suddenly, nearly a hundred people dressed in black and wearing black masks appeared in the tree hollow. These were his former guards who had come with him Beyond the Wall, protecting him and his descendants through generations.

"Let's go! Let's go out and talk to Mance Rayder about our next collaboration." Brynden Rivers said. He walked out of the tree hollow.

Mufasa, enveloped by the tree roots, was in a dire situation. His own consciousness seemed to be losing its independence, as if it was being integrated into a larger consciousness.

Mufasa ultimately had no choice but to "bite his tongue to commit suicide."

When Mufasa regained consciousness, he still had ten nuts in his hand that he hadn't cracked.

Mufasa took a deep breath, then picked up a stone and walked towards Brynden Rivers, who was wrapped in tree roots.

"Mufasa, I don't eat nuts, you don't have to be so polite." Brynden Rivers thought Mufasa was going to feed him some nuts.

"I'm over a hundred years old, all my teeth have fallen out!" he continued.

Mufasa came before him and looked at him strangely.

"I heard the Dothraki have a tradition."

"What tradition?" Brynden Rivers asked.

"Those whose teeth have fallen out are doomed to die. You've lived so long, it's time for you to go to hell."

Mufasa suddenly picked up the stone and smashed it towards Brynden Rivers' head.

Once, twice. The skull was hard, that was true, but not harder than a stone.

Brynden Rivers cried out for mercy.

"Why are you killing me? I haven't offended you," he asked.

"You can't kill me yet. If you kill me now, you won't be able to become a Greenseer."

"It's almost done. Even if you want to kill me, can't you do it a little later?"

Mufasa smiled sinisterly.

"Brynden Rivers, although the Greensight can be said to be an all-seeing eye, you may not have time to see everything."

"My abilities are beyond your imagination!" Mufasa said.

When he met the Nine-Colored Deer in The Kingswood, he became Her Gods Chosen, acquiring the heaven-defying talent of nine lives.

Later, he lost a life while killing the Sheep Stealer in The Vale, and then was tricked by Brynden Rivers a few hours ago, losing another life.

This time, he couldn't let Brynden Rivers succeed.

Mufasa ignored his pleas for mercy and continued to smash his head with the stone.

"Bloodraven Guards, quickly, save me!" Brynden Rivers roared.

"Damn it!" Mufasa thought to himself.

Dozens of people dressed in black and wearing black masks appeared in the tree hollow. Each of them held a curved scimitar and walked towards Mufasa.

"Given this situation, even if I kill Brynden Rivers, I'll still be killed by the Bloodraven Guards! What should I do?" Mufasa was extremely anxious.

Now he had two options: one was mutual destruction, killing Brynden Rivers and then being killed by the Bloodraven Guards.

The second was to commit suicide again, to rewind time a few hours.
