Kirito's tyrannical stance needed no explanation. Before the eyes of the entire village, he had brutally taken down Sarutobi Asuma. There was no need for justification, his blade had spoken.
"Kirito Hyuga, you-!"
Nara Shikaku stood stunned. As Konoha's leading strategist, logic was his default language. But this, this defied reason. Kirito had nearly killed a fellow jonin, simply because someone he cared about had been threatened. And not in secret, but openly, in full view of the village elders. It wasn't mere defiance, it was chaos made flesh.
And yet… was it really that simple?
Was it worth it?
If someone had asked Kirito that, his answer would probably have been:
"I don't care if it's worth it. I just knew I had to act. There's no hatred in my blade, just instinct. If I believe the sword must be drawn, I draw it. No second-guessing. Just strike."
"..."
Yamanaka Inoichi exhaled slowly. It had come to this.
"Shikaku… what do we do now?"
"What do you think? That brat just attacked one of our own, and we're supposed to turn a blind eye?!" Tsume Inuzuka snapped, voice laced with fury. She had always been someone who saw the world in absolutes, right and wrong, justice and revenge. And to her, Kirito had crossed an unforgivable line.
"Calm down, Head of the Inuzuka Clan," said Shibi Aburame quietly. "The truth is… none of us here are capable of subduing him."
The implication was clear. He had called Kirito a criminal, but he also admitted they had no power to stop him.
"I think we all need to take a step back," Kakashi said as he stood, his voice low and hoarse. He looked haggard. Broken, even. Asuma had been his comrade since the war. They had fought side by side, trusted each other with their lives.
He had never liked Asuma's reckless attitude. The man had abandoned the village to join the Twelve Guardian Ninja once. His choices often clashed with Kakashi's more disciplined views. But still… he was a comrade. A friend. That mattered.
And now Kirito had struck him down.
Yet Kakashi couldn't deny the deeper truth, that Asuma had drawn first, and Kirito had simply retaliated in defense of someone dear to him.
That blade had been swung not for vengeance, but for protection.
Kakashi's father had done the same once, abandoned the mission to save his comrades, and paid for it with his honor.
So Kakashi understood.
But understanding didn't mean forgiveness.
And so he stood, trapped in the middle, torn by loyalty and pain.
Why did shinobi always end up hurting each other?
Beside him, Might Guy sensed his turmoil, but offered no answers, because he had none.
Shikaku's expression grew increasingly conflicted. Kirito had attacked a fellow Konoha shinobi, an unforgivable act. But at the same time, given the current state of the village, weakened and fractured after the recent invasion… could they really afford to alienate someone like him?
"…Take Asuma to the medical corps," Shikaku said with a weary sigh.
The air was thick with tension. No one knew what to say or do.
Then, just as things seemed to be settling, Kirito's voice rang out.
"…I'm sorry, but this matter isn't over."
The atmosphere instantly shifted. What had been tense now became suffocating.
Everyone turned. Anger flared in every eye. This time, even Kakashi stepped forward, his voice sharp with warning.
"Kirito, what more do you want?!"
Kirito didn't flinch under the killing intent. His strange blue-white eyes shimmered faintly as he answered in a calm tone.
"You've all noticed it, haven't you… my eyes?"
"They contain power, unimaginable power. And because that power was too much to control, I spent years suppressing it… sealing it. That's why, even though I'm of the Hyuga Clan, I don't possess the Byakugan."
His pupils contracted slightly.
"But thanks to Danzo Shimura, the seals I used to restrain that power have been undone."
"I'm still in control of myself, for now. But the energy leaking from my eyes is too overwhelming. If I don't release the excess, I won't be able to contain it."
He clenched his hand into a fist. Just that motion alone caused a tremor in the air. Even the residual force in his body had become too powerful to handle.
"You understand now, don't you?"
Then he turned toward his attendant.
"Shirayuki. Bring back Asuna."
"Yes, Master."
With graceful steps, Shirayuki approached the ruined battlefield. She sliced the air with her finger, revealing a mirror-like surface shimmering with frost. She touched it lightly.
A surge of pale white light blossomed.
With a cracking hiss, a cube of glacial ice rose from the ground. As it melted, Asuna's form was revealed within.
The crowd gasped.
"Princess Asuna?!"
Kirito's voice cut in coldly.
"Danzo intended for the Fire Daimyo's daughter to die here, within Konoha. He wanted to use the resulting political pressure to force the Third Hokage to step down. Even her near-death experience in the Forest of Death was orchestrated by him."
"If we report this to the Land of Fire, you can imagine what Danzo's fate will be."
Silence fell.
Everyone in the room, at least the smart ones, knew Danzo had always walked a line between duty and darkness. That he sought the Hokage seat was no secret. But none had imagined he would go this far.
Kirito had made his move. He had revealed the truth.
And now, what came next… wasn't a request. It was a warning.
Shikaku, always the sharpest in the room, had already figured it out.
"So… what are you going to do?" he asked.
"You don't need to worry about that," Kirito said flatly.
He brought his hands together into a single seal, locking down the unstable energy raging in his eyes. Blue veins bulged at his temples. His pupils sharpened like blades.
In an instant, his vision expanded, three hundred sixty degrees of absolute clarity. He could see every inch of Konoha.
Hiashi's eyes widened.
"This sensation… it's like the Byakugan, but not quite…"
In a quiet, abandoned forest on the village's western edge, Kirito locked onto a fleeing figure, stumbling, panicked, running for his life.
He smirked faintly.
"Found you. Isolated. No civilians nearby. You chose your hiding spot well, Danzo."
Kirito took a step forward.
His body leaned, right hand forming a sign across his chest, left hand raised skyward like a conductor about to summon a storm.
"Genesis Meteor."
He held the stance. His eyes glowed with terrifying radiance.
"…What's he doing?" someone whispered.
Then they all felt it.
A light, faint at first, blinked into existence high in the sky.
In the next breath, it became a fireball the size of a thumb.
The heat hit them like a wave.
The ground shook.
Dust lifted.
The very air seemed to ignite.
Konoha's finest covered their faces instinctively, shielding their eyes from the oppressive pressure. Even at such a great distance, the meteor's descent was suffocating.
Someone muttered the word aloud, barely believing it.
"…A meteor."
