Boom!
The four elite Jonin, Kakashi, Guy, Asuma, and Kurenai, had been forced back, while on the other side, Kirito remained completely unscathed. Clad in icy aura, he stood tall with Shirayuki in hand, radiating a cold so intense that it seemed to repel all life.
"Damn it! Kakashi, at this rate, there's no way we'll catch him alive," Asuma growled, flicking away the cigarette hanging from his lips. "We might only have a chance if we go in with the intent to kill!"
"Hey! Are you saying we should aim to kill a kid?" Kurenai snapped, clearly at odds with Asuma's approach.
"Kakashi, what do we do?" Guy asked seriously. When it came to difficult choices, Guy always entrusted his judgment to his most trusted comrade, Kakashi.
Kakashi kept his eye fixed on Kirito, then suddenly called out, "Hyuga Kirito! Can you hear me? If you can, answer me!"
But Kirito didn't react. His cold, glassy eyes remained unmoved. Reflected within those pupils was a world devoid of meaning, as if nothing in existence held his interest. His internal arrogance had been unleashed to its fullest.
"…He's completely lost his mind." Kakashi exhaled slowly, then made his decision.
"Prepare for engagement!"
"Kakashi? Even you?!" Kurenai stared at them, stunned. In her heart, no matter the situation, no matter the reason, adults should never treat a child as a threat to be eliminated.
Her father had taught her that before his death during the Nine-Tails attack. She still remembered his words:
"You young ones are like wild wind, fiery blood, sweat, and tears shine like halos beneath the sun. Today, I stand before you, not to make you retreat in fear, but to entrust Konoha's future to you. I beg of you, my daughter."
Clenching her jaw, Kurenai shouted, "Do you all intend to destroy this child's future?!"
The others remained silent.
Each had their own convictions. Kurenai inherited her father's ideals, to shield and nurture the next generation. But Kakashi, born to the prestigious Hatake clan, raised under elite training, orphaned young, and molded by the Fourth Hokage's teachings… had served in ANBU and even under Danzo. He carried the weight of too many ideologies.
"Kakashi, I'll trust your judgment." Guy lowered his head slightly in respect.
Asuma spoke grimly, "That kid's immune to genjutsu. Kurenai, stay out of this."
"Asuma!" Kurenai was shocked. Her lips parted to argue, but Asuma never looked back. Their paths had diverged.
"…Haa." Kakashi drew a deep breath, then shouted the order:
"Full power, engage!"
"Lightning Style: Chidori!"
"Leaf Lotus!"
"Verdant Gale!"
Kakashi, Guy, and Asuma each unleashed their signature techniques simultaneously.
And yet, Kirito didn't flinch. He faced them head-on, blade gleaming with cold light. No matter what came at him, he would cut through it all.
"Fire Style: Ash Pile Burning!"
Asuma spat out a thick cloud of smoldering ash. The technique could inflict third-degree burns simply from heat exposure, and it lingered in the air long enough to engulf the enemy.
Kirito plunged straight into the burning cloud, emerging unscathed. Though heat waves rolled off his body, none of it overcame the deep-seated frost radiating from within.
As flames surged toward him again, Kirito slashed once, cleaving the fire in two. At the same moment, he appeared directly before Asuma.
"Tch… Even this level of fire style doesn't work? Then try this one!"
Asuma crossed his arms and struck a strange downward pose. His body radiated a golden aura.
"Secret Art: Thousand-Hand Kill of Enlightenment!"
From the golden light, a colossal figure of a thousand-armed Bodhisattva materialized, its unified strike sent Kirito flying backward!
"Heh. How's that? That's a signature technique of the Twelve Guardian Ninja, perfect balance of offense and defense!" Asuma smirked.
"Chidori!"
Lightning chirped.
As Kirito was still airborne, Kakashi's crackling Chidori was already closing in.
Kirito tried to twist mid-air and slash back, but at that moment, Guy appeared at his side and locked down his arm.
"Now, Kakashi!" Guy shouted.
Kakashi's electrified hand surged toward Kirito's shoulder like a lightning strike.
BOOM!
Kirito managed to force his way out of Guy's grip at the last possible second, dodging the killing blow, but his sleeve was torn apart, revealing a scrape on his shoulder.
"Tch, he still managed to dodge that?" Asuma muttered.
"He broke free from me by brute force… what kind of body does he have?!" Guy exclaimed.
"No matter. With the three of us going all-out, we're starting to gain the upper hand." Kakashi analyzed the situation calmly.
"At this rate… we can win."
And from the surface, it did look that way.
Kirito glanced at the torn fabric on his right arm. That shoulder, had indeed been grazed by Chidori.
His eyes narrowed as he turned back to face them.
Clink.
He planted Shirayuki into the ground.
"…?"
Kakashi and the others tensed.
"Is he surrendering?" Guy asked warily. "Doesn't look like it…"
Kirito extended a hand, his fingers brushing the wounded shoulder. Dipping into the blood, he then pressed it against the center of his palm.
Kakashi's brow furrowed.
"Everyone stay alert! He's preparing a blood contract summoning!"
