Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Follow Your Heart

"Gentle Fist Secret Art: Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm!"

"Eight Extreme Collapse!"

Before the eyes of the crowd, a fist and a palm, both imbued with immense destructive power, collided in a thunderous explosion!

BOOM!

A sharp burst of force resounded without warning. From the point of impact, a violent shockwave erupted like a storm, sweeping across the field. The floor beneath them groaned under the pressure, cracking and splintering like a spider web beneath their feet!

The raw destructive power of this taijutsu clash was so overwhelming that even the watching Hyuga elders couldn't help but gulp. This wasn't ninjutsu or genjutsu, this was pure physical technique, and its might was nothing short of terrifying.

At the center of the arena, the moment of impact seemed frozen in time. Invisible waves of force surged from their feet, and before long, the once-sturdy floor cracked, crumbled, and disintegrated into fine dust, ultimately vanishing into nothingness!

"H-He actually clashed head-on with the Fourth Elder…?" one elder stammered, the insult he was about to utter catching in his throat.

"His technique… could rival our Hyuga clan's Vacuum Palm? What kind of taijutsu is this?!"

"No! That wasn't purely taijutsu. There was something else, a structure in the attack flow. It resembled a hybrid technique, like the legendary fusion of ninjutsu and taijutsu!"

While the elders debated in stunned disbelief, the fierce exchange between the two fighters was nearing its conclusion. Such attacks weren't designed for prolonged clashes. They were explosions of sheer might, short, brutal, and decisive.

"Sigh…"

An old, weary breath cut through the aftermath, and with that, fist and palm both recoiled, parting with a concussive shockwave that shook the air.

"You're an exceptional kid," the Fourth Elder said after a long pause, his eyes lingering on Kirito. Then, without another word, he turned and walked away.

"Uncle…!" Ayako called out instinctively.

But he merely waved a hand dismissively and said with a faint smile, "I'm getting old… If I stay any longer, I won't even have the strength to remain standing…"

Kirito, breathing just slightly heavier than usual, allowed the massive tension in his muscles to slowly ebb away. His right arm, bloated from the clash, gradually returned to normal. His palm was numb, having taken the brunt of the impact.

"Kirito! Are you okay?" Ayako rushed forward, concerned as she noticed the paleness on his face.

"I'm fine…" he replied with a reassuring smile.

Ayako stared at him, speechless. What had just happened was too overwhelming. Then, hesitantly, she asked, "So… does that mean you won?"

"Total loss, actually. I did." Kirito shook his head with a calm smile. "He's a respectable elder. If he hadn't run out of chakra toward the end, I'd have been the one to fall."

Yet, while Kirito admitted defeat with ease, none of the Hyuga elders looked pleased.

After all, the Fourth Elder was one of the top five strongest in the Hyuga clan's older generation. And they knew, he had used his full strength just now. That devastating strike wasn't pulled back in the slightest. And still, it hadn't been enough to defeat the one they had once called "trash."

What did this mean?

Kirito was only thirteen or fourteen. His future was long and wide open. At this rate, it wouldn't take more than three years for him to surpass everyone in the Hyuga clan!

And yet… this boy was the one they had personally expelled.

If the outside world learned of this, the Hyuga would become a laughingstock.

"Let's go, Ayako." Kirito steadied his breathing and turned to leave.

"Wait." The Hyuga Grand Elder stepped forward again, his face a mix of anger and calculation. His eyes were unreadable as he stared at Kirito, and after a long silence, he spoke with measured gravity:

"Kirito… don't think that a little progress gives you the right to act with impunity in the Hyuga clan. You may have the Hokage's letter granting you permission to take our honored guest, but matters concerning the clan must still go through the Elder Council. The Clan Head must give the final word."

Kirito turned his head slightly and gave the Grand Elder a calm, indifferent look.

He was no fool. The message was clear, the Grand Elder was extending an olive branch. From the way he dropped the honorifics and called him by name, it was a signal of tentative goodwill. And yet, his tone remained rigid, clearly an attempt to reassert authority before offering reconciliation. A classic Hyuga tactic: scold, then reward.

They were hoping Kirito would show humility and beg to return to the clan. Then, they could proudly accept him as a redeemed prodigy and save the humiliation they might face.

But unfortunately for them, Kirito had no intention of returning to the Hyuga clan.

He had never cared much for it. It held nothing for him. If they hadn't kicked him out, maybe he wouldn't have bothered leaving. But since they did?

There was no going back.

Not out of revenge. He bore them no deep hatred. Two of his closest friends were still Hyuga. But at the end of the day…

Kirito simply followed his heart.

That was the guiding force behind every choice he made, how he acted, how he fought, how he lived. He didn't do things to prove a point or follow convention. He did them because they felt right.

He didn't like the Hyuga clan.

And that was reason enough.
