Chapter 105 - One Thousand and Zero

When he woke up in the morning, Shikime Natsu received a notification on his phone: 100,000 personal points had been distributed.

They were truly punctual. They said it would be on the first of the month, and so it was. With another 100,000 personal points deposited into his account, his mood was excellent.

Since he received 100,000 personal points, it meant that Class A's Class Points for the previous month were exactly one thousand. Not bad, not bad at all.

"Shiki-san, we maintained one thousand Class Points, right?"

"Oi, oi, do you really need to confirm that kind of thing with the leader? That's a given."

Just as he walked into the classroom, Shikime Natsu saw Totsuka Yahiko and Hashimoto Masayoshi approaching him, their eyes filled with excitement.

"That's right. Everyone's performance was quite good."

Shikime Natsu smiled and nodded. His words caused the students of Class A to cheer once again. After all, confirming it privately was one thing, but having the class leader confirm it made it official.

Nowadays, Shikime Natsu's popularity within Class A was terrifyingly high. Everyone worshiped him, so almost no one questioned his decisions anymore.

In the recent quiz, thanks to the study group Shikime Natsu organized directly for Class A, many students handled it with ease. Even someone with average grades like Kamuro Masumi felt she could produce quite decent results this time under Shikime Natsu's tutoring.

Shikime Natsu's teaching ability was simply too strong. Although it might be rude to say, the students of Class A felt that having Shikime Natsu teach them was far better than the teachers.

Hmm... does that mean the teachers could all be laid off?

Here, Shikime Natsu's word was law!

Before long, Mashima Tomoya walked in from the door. There was a faint smile on his face, making him look less rigid than when they first met.

Mashima Tomoya held a large sheet of white paper in his hand and displayed it on the blackboard.

"These are the Class Points for each class from last month. Congratulations, you have maintained Class A's position."

Shikime Natsu's gaze fell upon the white paper.

Class A: 1000 Class Points

Class B: 960 Class Points

Class C: 760 Class Points

Class D: 0 Class Points.

To be honest, when the Class Points for the four classes were displayed one by one, the most eye-catching ones were two classes: Class A and Class D.

Two extremes: one with a perfect score, and one with a zero.

Of course, everyone in Class A knew that there were strong individuals in Class D as well, such as Horikita Suzune, the exchange student who had come to Class A.

Although her usual behavior was a bit strange—blocking people around her to engage in three conversations, almost like a gamer completing a quest before immediately retreating—her academic grades were unimpeachable.

During the week she spent as an exchange student in Class A, Horikita Suzune chose to challenge Sakayanagi Arisu directly and won by a margin of a single point.

The scores those two achieved back then were unattainable in the eyes of everyone in Class A. They also realized that Class D wasn't just made up of guys like Yamauchi Haruki.

"Do you have any objections regarding these Class Points?"

Mashima Tomoya's gaze fell on Shikime Natsu. He appeared to be asking the whole class, but in reality, he was asking Shikime Natsu. Shikime Natsu's opinion was Class A's opinion.

"Now that the first month is over, then... is that intelligence allowed to be made public?"

What Shikime Natsu was asking about was, naturally, the information purchased for two million personal points.

"Of course."

Mashima Tomoya nodded. Being able to maintain a lead for a month was already quite impressive. The current Class A could be considered the most excellent batch since the establishment of Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, maintaining a perfect score in the first month.

All of this... was thanks to Shikime Natsu. He had seen through the school's intelligence before the opening ceremony and took countermeasures. Within a few days, he used the method of 'borrowing a chicken to lay an egg' to acquire information and sell it, distributing all the personal points earned from the sales to the class to win their hearts.

He even made a deal with Hoshinomiya Chie without Mashima knowing. If Hoshinomiya Chie's new boyfriend hadn't been exposed, Mashima, as the homeroom teacher, would likely still be in the dark.

Moreover, it seemed Class C's leader, Ryuuen Kakeru, was in cahoots with Shikime Natsu. Ryuuen Kakeru chose to challenge him during the exchange student exam and then threw the match—it would be impossible to say there was no collusion.

Then... Shikime Natsu also had contact with Class B's leader, Ichinose Honami, and their relationship seemed quite good. As for Class D, Shikime Natsu's popularity there was also quite significant.

Regarding the upperclassmen, Shikime Natsu had connections with the current Student Council President, Horikita Manabu, and even sent Katsuragi Kouhei from his class into the Student Council.

Even after teaching for so many years, Mashima Tomoya felt he couldn't see through Shikime Natsu at all.

If this kid had been in the same year as him back then, Mashima might truly have been crushed by him.

"Then... does the school have any new arrangements?"

Shikime Natsu spoke again. Aside from the exchange student activity in the second week resulting from his deal with Hoshinomiya Chie, the entire month of April had been quite plain, without any movement.

Of course, Shikime Natsu quite enjoyed this life. Being able to stay with beautiful girls happily every day was nice.

"Yes. Next, please look at this. These are your quiz results."

Mashima Tomoya took out another sheet of white paper. It listed the scores of all students in Class A. Shikime Natsu's name was at the very top—perfect scores in all subjects, ranking first in the grade.

"Congratulations. No one failed. If your grades were failing, you would have been expelled."

Mashima Tomoya wrote a number on the white paper with a black pen, then spoke to the Class A students. Everyone's scores were high, and no one was hovering near the passing line.

Excellent. Aside from 'excellent,' Mashima Tomoya couldn't find another word to describe this batch of Class A students.

"In the upcoming midterm exam, you can obtain a maximum of one hundred Class Points. If you can continue to maintain this standard, one hundred Class Points should be a piece of cake for you."

Mashima Tomoya gave his evaluation. Being a homeroom teacher for this class was perhaps too easy; he didn't even have any mental burden. The students handled everything, and he, the teacher, simply reaped the rewards beautifully.

Sigh... what a worry-free class. As for Class B, although Hoshinomiya Chie was a bit unreliable, the children in her class were still dependable.

Currently, the difference in Class Points between Class A and Class B wasn't large—only forty points. Basically, one exam could close the gap. Of course, that would only happen if Class A made a mistake.

With Shikime Natsu present, Mashima Tomoya really didn't know how Class A could lose. There was simply no way to lose, okay?

*

Class D.

At this moment, the atmosphere in Class D was quite quiet, one could even say terrifyingly quiet.

Chabashira Sae hadn't arrived yet, but no one had seen a single point deposited into their accounts. In other words... their points had been completely deducted.

Just as Horikita Suzune had said that day, Class D didn't have anything—not even a single point.

Clearly, everyone had already started regulating their behavior during the second week. Even Yamauchi Haruki had reduced some of his superfluous movements in class.

But... their points were still zero.

Wasn't the school's point deduction system a bit too strict?

Did they really intend to make them survive a month with zero points?

This should be last month's points, right?

As long as we perform well this month, we'll still have 100,000 points next month.

Some people were hoping for this in their hearts, especially Yamauchi Haruki and Ike Kanji. The two were currently in debt. Even when they begged Shikime Natsu to waive the remaining debt, that guy didn't agree. He had clearly stayed in Class D for a week, and... Shikime Natsu's points were obtained by defeating Yamauchi Haruki—didn't that count as repaying the debt?

He had lost on purpose because he had to pay back the debt; how could that guy Shikime Natsu not understand even this?

Clack! Clack! Clack!

Chabashira Sae walked into the terrifyingly quiet classroom in her high heels, looking at the Class D students with contemptuous eyes.

She originally thought someone would ask why this month's points hadn't been distributed. Now, looking at the expressions of these guys, they seemed to know something.

It should be said that starting from the Wednesday of the second week, Chabashira Sae knew that these guys had learned something. They had some capability—no, rather, they had great capability—to wipe out their meager Class Points even while knowing the truth.

Chabashira Sae's gaze swept lightly over Yamauchi Haruki. It was precisely this guy who caused the Class Points to return to zero, and he was the one who caused the most deductions for the whole class, especially with that commotion at Keyaki Mall.

"You should already know how many points you received, right?"

Chabashira Sae snorted coldly, the contempt in her eyes deepening.

Hearing Chabashira Sae's words, no one in Class D spoke; they just looked quietly at her.

Horikita Suzune's complexion was quite ugly. She recalled the words Shikime Natsu had said to her last night: 'You probably won't even have 10,000 personal points.'

Now it was great. Not 10,000—not even a single point. If that guy found out, he would definitely clutch his belly laughing and then ruthlessly mock her, right?

It was all these guys dragging her down. She had clearly told them the truth, and it was during the second week, yet in less than half a month, Class D had managed to deduct all their points. It was truly incredible.

Both Shikime Natsu and her brother felt she was well-suited to stay in this class?

No, she wasn't suited at all!

"These are the Class Points of the other classes. One Class Point equals one hundred personal points. Look at the gap between you and the other classes."

"I have to say, you are truly amazing. Even previous Class Ds haven't managed to do what you have done—completely exhausting the baseline of one thousand points in the first month."

When Chabashira Sae unfolded that white paper in front of everyone, Horikita Suzune's wine-red pupils contracted violently. Class A... 1000? They didn't lose a single point?

Looking at the other classes again, even Class C had 760 Class Points. The '0' of Class D was exceptionally glaring on that white paper.

Chabashira Sae's tone was full of regret; she appeared completely disappointed in this class.

"Do you have any more questions now?"

Chabashira Sae's cold gaze scanned the entire room.

"If we perform well this month, will we have 100,000 personal points next month? We will, right?"

Yamauchi Haruki spoke up to ask.

"No."

Chabashira Sae was almost laughed into anger. To ask such a question—was this guy a complete and utter idiot?

"What must we do to increase our Class Points?"

Horikita Suzune immediately asked. Even if the Class Points were currently zero, she absolutely could not admit defeat. As long as there was a chance to increase Class Points, then... in the remaining three years, she would definitely defeat Shikime Natsu and prove it to that hateful guy!

"Two weeks from now, the midterm exam. In this midterm exam, if your performance is excellent, you can obtain a maximum of one hundred Class Points."

Hearing this, Yamauchi Haruki couldn't help but reveal a happy expression.

"One midterm exam is one hundred, so with just ten times, we can earn back 100,000 personal points a month!"

"Yeah!"

Ike Kanji chimed in from the side. They didn't ask for too much; having 100,000 personal points a month was enough.

Competing with other classes and whatnot—how tiring was that?

"However! Look at your results from the last quiz. Everyone below this line failed!"

"If your grades are still failing during the midterm exam, then... you will all be expelled!"

"Not just the midterm exam; the final exam is the same."

"And one more thing: the so-called 100% employment rate and 100% college advancement rate are privileges that only Class A can enjoy. They have nothing to do with you!"

Chabashira Sae drew a line on the white paper. The Yamauchi Haruki trio was prominently included, along with Onizuka Kenichi and others.

If these people were expelled, Class D would instantly lose nearly ten people!

"I'll leave the remaining time for you to discuss amongst yourselves!"

After saying this, Chabashira Sae left the class directly.

"Expulsion? No way? I've never heard of such a thing!"

"Didn't they say 100% graduation and employment rates? Why can only Class A enjoy it? That's unfair!"

Soon, the class became noisy.

"There is no need to discuss those irrelevant matters now. The most important thing should be how to prevent expulsion, and then secure one hundred Class Points in this midterm exam, right?"

Just as Hirata Yousuke intended to speak, Horikita Suzune's cold voice rang out first. The originally noisy classroom instantly quieted down.

Kushida Kikyou's gaze fell on Horikita Suzune, flashing with an imperceptible trace of dissatisfaction. Damn it, her thunder was stolen by this guy again.

"Horikita-san is right. This is what we need to do most right now. I want to spend these three years of high school with everyone. I don't want anyone to be expelled! Please!"

Hirata Yousuke immediately spoke up, his words earnest. His influence in the class was quite good. If not for Shikime Natsu's appearance, there would probably be many Hirata Yousuke fangirls in the class. Of course, Hirata Yousuke's reputation among the boys was also extremely good.

But... to make this group of people all pass within two weeks... frankly, the difficulty was really not small, especially seeing the grades of the Yamauchi Haruki Idiot Trio. The difficulty was immense.
