Chapter 21 - 21

Chapter Twenty-One

Not One Sinner

Rain Country is a small country situated between three superpowers. Fire Country, and therefore Konohagakure, is located to its east, Wind Country and Sunagakure is to the west, and Earth Country and Iwagakure is to the North. Because of this position, as well as other small rival countries, they have had a rough time anytime war has erupted.

During the First Shinobi War, Amegakure had remained neutral because of its status as a minor nation. It did not have a large shinobi force and it's muddy terrain made it incredibly difficult to travel in. Because of logistics and coordination, most countries avoided them altogether but they had to still fight the few offensives from their rival neighbors.

It was during the Second Shinobi War that Rain had to face the most amount of fighting in its entire history. Because of the desperate fighting from the three superpower nations near them, they became a hotbed of fighting from all sides. This left their lands ravaged and abandoned for decades after.

If not for their leader, Hanzo, they would have capitulated much sooner in the war. The man had already made quite the name among their rivals but in this war he even made Konoha's might buckle against his bulwark. He had fought and won against the Hokage's students, naming them the Densetsu no Sannin.

It was during the Third Shinobi War that Rain Country had closed its borders and adopted an isolationist policy. Anyone who entered the nation was constantly watched and monitored by Ame shinobi. Because Hanzo still led the village at this time, the fighting between major villages usually maintained distance from the borders of the country.

It was not always, however, and more than a few times a major battle would escalate into Rain territory. This would not affect Rain as much as it did during the previous war. All things considered, they came out relatively unscathed and with a non aggression pact with Konoha.

But after that, there was no communication with the village. The pact was all but forgotten and no one has entered or left the country ever since. No one knows what is happening inside the borders and for the most part no one cares.

That is, they did not care until recently. Jiraiya was included in this, having last thought of the small nation when he wondered if the orphans he took care of are still alive. He was not sure of it but if he had to guess he assumed they were likely dead after the Third Ninja War. Wouldn't be the first time he's lost people.

Seems pretty consistent for me, the old sage snorted to himself as he snuck into the tower.

The tower is the home base of the Akatsuki, or so he learned by torturing and disposing of the Ame-nin. There were tons of defenses ranging from trapped rooms, tons of Jonin patrols, and the S-rank shinobi of the organization. But his experience has lent him enough to easily get around all of these obstacles and explore further into the building.

He was looking for plans or some kind of documents that could help Konoha understand the Akatsuki's plans. For such a large organization there had to be a grail of some kind that would shine a light on their activity. He just needed to find the leader's room.

Really makes you wish for a Byakugan, Jiraiya groaned to himself as he peaked in an empty room. Nothing.

Suddenly, he felt something from his left and he snapped his head to see who was there. There was nothing but an empty hall. Was he just getting paranoid? No, there had to be something that set his sixth sense off.

Slowly he crept down the hall and looked around for any incoming Ame-nin, or worse the S-rank missing-nins. It was quiet. Either he's really good at infiltrating still or he was being led into a trap.

Creak!

He quickly jumped into the ceiling rafters the moment he heard the creaking of a door swinging open or close. He looked down with a kunai out and saw a small light coming from a newly ajar door. No shadows moved around and he didn't hear the shuffling of feet or any voices. Still, he waited a few long moments before deciding to investigate.

He dropped to the floor and approached the door. He peaked in and his eyes widened when he saw all of the papers and scrolls littering the room. Jackpot!

He moved inside and closed the door quietly behind him. Creating two clones and handing them storage scrolls, he ordered them to gather all of the scrolls and papers in the shelves. While they did that, he approached the table with some scattered reports and journals.

He moved papers around that did not have any immediate interest to him until he found one that caught his eye. Picking it up, he began reading what looked to be a journal entry.

"September 6

The voices are getting more incessant. Before I just thought it was Zetsu playing tricks on me again but this is different. It's scratching the inside of my skull. They tell me of a future where everyone is happy and I can have Rin again.

I wasn't prepared for something like this. Madara told me that as long as I follow the plan everything will be fine. I don't know if I can go through with it much longer if these voices get any louder.

The Prophecy Child is dead so there is no one to stand in our way. Zetsu insists that everything will be easier now. If we wait on Kabuto to manipulate Orochimaru, we will get at least half of Kyuubi from Minato. The only problem is the other half was lost with the death of the Child.

How do we get that back?"

Jiraiya's eyes widened but jumped when a book fell from the table suddenly. He looked at it and saw that it was open and had a small entry written in. The Eye Moon Plan?

He leaned down and grabbed the book.

Impure World Reincarnation

It is nearly completed. We are so close to finding out how to not require living vessels. If we can get that, we have all that we need to finish the last step to the plan. The Child of Prophecy will be needed.

Jiraiya immediately closed the book and tossed it to one of his clones to seal with the rest. Tsunade-hime will need all of this.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

A loud horn sounded from the sky. The trumpets sounded the start of twenty-four hours of killing. And with it came the angels.

The Exterminators were something that every Sinner and even hellborn fear. Their outfits of silver and black were daunting to see descending from the Eye of Heaven. Their weapons of Heaven-forged steel glinted against the red sky like dazzling stars.

But Naruto did not see them that way. He did not fear them. He pitied them. They are angels who are condemned to taint their souls with the killing of others. To fracture their purity one slice at a time.

That did not mean he would have mercy, though. He had always thought about this, facing the horde of hundreds of angels head on. This will be the first time he did something as crazy as this.

Hopefully not the last.

Naruto took out a receiver from the little table he set up next to himself and turned it on. An echo of a crackle sounded through the district as all of the speakers set up were turned on. This was something he had Vox do for him as he wanted to egg the angels on.

bringing the receiver up to his mouth he took a deep breath. "Hello, Exterminators. Welcome to Hell, it's a lovely… I don't know the temperature but it's cool. I am here to greet you as the Overlord of the Entertainment District."

"Here's a warning. Do not touch a hair on any of my people's heads. If you have the balls, or lack thereof from what I heard, you can face me yourself. If you don't, stay out of my district. That is all, thanks!"

Naruto turned the receiver off and watched as a good chunk broke off to head to his district specifically. Just as he wanted.

I'll get your revenge in blood, Kris.

With one last glance at the angels, he took a leap to the building across from him and grabbed onto a window sill. The building was at least three times that of his restaurant but with the use of chakra he was able to scale it easily; he was leaping up and attaching to the surface with the palm of his hand like a spider.

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can.

Funnily enough, despite having kicked the metaphorical bees nest, he was oddly excited. He was looking forward to fighting them, making them fear Sinners instead of Sinners fearing them. His heart was pumping and a grin was slowly making its way onto his face.

He vaulted over the barrier of the roof and his feet landed with a crunch on the gravel floor. Looking over, the angels were beginning to land and start finding their targets. It was harder, given enough of them had made it to the bunkers, but there were still the stragglers who could not make it in time.

But I had a surprise for all of you.

Sure enough, he caught sight of one Exterminator closing in with their heavenly sword and swinging to bisect a Sinner. Instead of cleaving the demon, they completed the swing with their arm but instead of seeing their blade cut through the demon there was nothing. Their arm was missing from the bicep down and their LED began glitching.

"AAAAH!"

The angel grabbed her arm and collapsed on the ground as the golden blood began spurting out. The screen of her mask was glitching as it was not made to make the faces of pain and anguish she currently was.

"I said," a sandal pressed against her head and kept her in place so all she could see was a pant leg. "not a single Sinner."

Crunch!

Clone 12's foot crushed the mask and head, popping like a watermelon with the golden blood getting all over his leg. He lifted his foot and kicked it to get the blood off but most of it still stuck to him much to his annoyance. That's gonna cake on there.

He sighed and turned to see the Sinner that almost lost their life and he gave a small smile to her. She's a small fox or canine demon with white fur that had some red as well. She had a black and silver studded collar loosely around her neck. She wore a long red shirt with a white skull on it and a black jacket. She didn't seem to be wearing any pants or shorts.

"Hey, what are you doing not in a bunker?" 12 asked politely as he picked her up on her feet. "Come on, I'll lead you to the closest one."

Naruto watched his clone disappear with the Sinner and approached the angel's corpse. He looked down at her body apathetically. He clicked his teeth before reaching down to grab the discarded longsword that is still attached to the angel's hand.

He pried the arm off and tossed it on the angel's corpse. Not like he needed that, he didn't need any trophies or something stupid like that. I'm not a sicko like that or anything.

"Cassidy!"

Another angel landed near the corpse and began looking her over, as if the caved in helmet did not speak for itself. Still, he stepped away and began swinging the sword around carefully to get a feel for it. He didn't know heavenly steel was so lightweight when they looked like they weighed a ton. It was a welcome surprise, though.

"You bastard demon!"

Naruto swung around and raised his new sword to parry the spear attack aimed for his back. He knocked the lunge to the side, driving the spearhead into the ground, before cocking his fist back. With a sickening crack, his fist shattered part of the mask and blew the Exterminator back over the corpse and into the wall of a building.

He hoped no one was in there but he didn't want to risk someone's life so he quickly followed them in. He landed in what looked like a living room and looked to see that no one but the angel on the floor was there. There even seemed to be a half-eaten meal on the table, so they must have left during the one-hour bell warning.

"Come on, why are you upset," Naruto cocked his head to the side as he approached the prone angel. "It's not like she's dead. This isn't even an ounce of the grief you cause Sinners."

"What, am I supposed to feel sorry for you?" The woman grabbed her weapon and got to her feet to face him, her LED mask flickering with an enraged expression. "You made your choice to live your life in sin! You squandered your chance for mercy!"

Naruto dodged the spear blade and grabbed the shaft of the weapon. She tried to rip it back out of his hands but his grip was more than she could handle and for some reason she refused to let go. If he had wanted to, he could have used the stolen heavenly steel longsword and ended her life right here and now.

"I was sentenced to Hell at the age of thirteen for surviving in any way I could," Naruto ripped the weapon out of her hand and plunged the blade into the wooden floor. "Do you think I had enough time to live a life of sin?"

He grabbed her neck when he saw her try to grab her weapon and he lifted her up off of her feet. She beat against his arm desperately as she choked in his grip.

"I am the product of my environment," Naruto gripped harder and the only thing saving the Exterminator is the durability of her armored outfit. "What about you? You Exterminators kill and have a great time doing it. You are no better than me."

The Vees were staying in their private safe room that they had built long ago for Extermination Day. It had protective shutters and a backup generator in case the power went out from the destruction happening outside. Most Overlords had this type of place where they could bunker down and wait out the carnage, but the Vees were sure that they were the only ones who could do so in comfort.

Well, maybe not so much anymore after their new boss made these types of bunkers easily accessible to the general populous of Pentagram City. They had no way to argue against it, though Velvette had no such intentions at all, so they just had to help fund and furnish those places. The only one who still hated it is Vox as they man had the most anger at being owned by another. Valentino was not so bothered, mostly because he was allowed to continue business as usual, but he wanted Vox to be happy as well.

Currently, they were currently watching live broadcasts of Extermination Day and they could honestly say they were surprised. Never had they guessed their boss would antagonize the Exterminators and called them out for a fight. For Vox, he was excited to see himself be freed of his leash and watch it happen live. But then something unexpected happened.

There were hundreds of him all around the city fighting off angels and saving or protecting Sinners from the attack. More than a few had been defeated - although since they didn't have any heavenly steel weapons the angels will just be reborn in Heaven. That is, until they were winning and were collecting their own weapons.

They had gone from expecting a short-lived reign to thinking he may actually win in a war against the Exterminators. Despite how many weapons he has collected, he had not once used them to permanently kill the hostile angels. Instead, they could see that he was making them disappear into small scrolls that were carried with the duplicates.

Velvette was more excited with every angel defeated, more amused with each time they were outwitted, more aroused with each blonde shown on screen. If not for the other two, she was sure she would be masturbating the entire time she watched.

"Just imagine what he could do with those clones," she said with an excited quiver.

Valentino gave a curious hum as he smoked from his custom pipe. He blew out a plume of pink smoke that formed into a heart and he suddenly grinned at the thought of porn videos with the blonde. "A story where the main character can be his own orgy. That just might sell."

Vox scoffed and leaned against his side of the couch. "How the fuck is he even able to do that?"

"Magic?" Velvette shrugged uncaringly. "Who cares!"

The Vox drones were compiling multiple angles of the fights and broadcasting them on Voxtagram and to every news outlet in the seven rings of Hell. If he had to guess, the moment that word got out someone was fighting and winning against angels everyone would be tuning in to the spectacle. Ratings will be huge.

"Oh, shit!"

Velvette's exclamation got Vox's attention and he turned back to the screen in time to have one of the clones be cleaved in half. The Exterminator in question carried a single vicious-looking bearded axe. A red swirl is on the front of her uniform and that alone made the Vees swallow thickly.

The Swirl, a nickname given to the only Exterminator that stood out among the others, was a ruthless angel with no mercy. She killed every Sinner she could see and once it was time she would leave. Unlike the others, she did not show a sick enjoyment of the killing and sometimes they would have preferred if she did.

Her dutiful attitude set many Sinners on edge whenever they recollect their Exterminations near her. The fact that she has appeared means that the blonde was actually causing a disruption to the killing.

Naruto paused as he gained a clone's memories. He was killed trying to fend off an angel so they didn't get into the bunker housing Sinners. He was successful but he was killed by the angel.

The only problem is that she stood out among the others. The red swirl on her uniform was oddly similar to those that appeared on the back of Konoha flak jackets. That means she's ningen.

Creating more clones to replace the one that was lost and then some, he jumped onto the room of a nearby building. He will have to check out what was going on and make sure this one Exterminator did not get to any Sinners. He meant it when he said that not a single Sinner in his district will be touched.

"Right."

Naruto dodged to the left the moment his sixth sense told him of an incoming attack and it was not a second too soon. He had barely moved before a heavenly steel axe was slammed into the roof he hopped onto. When he skidded to a stop he turned to find the angel that just killed one of his clones, but this time she was breathing heavily.

"You think it's funny, don't you."

He was surprised by her harsh voice and the fact that when she pulled her axe out of the roof it began to crumble. Oh, shit, she's strong!

"Answer me, demon!"

He quickly dodged again when she dodged forward and swung her axe to take one of his legs. "I think what's funny?"

She seethed and stalked forward angrily. "I don't know how you found out about my identity but I will teach you a lesson on taking the form of my son!"

Naruto's eyes widened as he was faced with a climbing spike of power from the woman. Her chakra was wisping off of her like a violet mist before it began to take form. Large, purple links began forming from her back and slammed into the roof ominously.

Oh, fuck, I think this is my mother!

I'm being followed.

Jiraiya had felt the presence ever since leaving the tower. His clones with the information were sent to Mount Myoboku where they will be sent to Konoha to deliver the intel. He should have done so himself as well, considering it would have been safer in the end, but something kept him from doing so.

He had the nagging feeling that he could learn of something while still here.

Come on, show yourself.

That's when he felt it, the approach of five people, and their appearance made his eyes narrow. Each of them are clad in the black cloaks with red clouds and their eyes stare down at him emotionlessly. The purple ringed eyes that he had only heard in myths and legends; the Rinnegan.

"So, you are the god of this village," Jiraiya said calmly even as he quickly took in the appearance of each of them. "It has been a while, Yahiko, but it wasn't you who held the Rinnegan. Where is Nagato?"

"Nagato and Yahiko died in their fight against Hanzo. All that is left… is Pain." The one that looked like Yahiko spoke with the voice of Nagato.

Jiraiya narrowed his eyes dangerously at that. "Pain. Is that the name of your god complex? You may look like Yahiko but you are not him."
