After dinner Kade is asleep in the nursery while jay is helping keifer to change into sleepwear.
He laid on the bed and Jay carefully adjusted the pillow and blanket and laid beside him.
She got closer to him and kissed his forehead and a peck on lips.
He smiled.
"Come closer" he said and she went closer to him she even wrapped her arms around his neck and gently rested his head on her shoulder.
Keifer nuzzled into her neck and Both drift off.

"Keifer! Put me down" I said laughing as he spin me in his arms.
"Nope" he said increasing his speed.
"Why!?"
"Because now I'm completely fine" he said.
Even though I pretend to scold him but I was happy that he's fine no injuries hurting. Nothing all.
After the accident this is the first time I'm feeling relived like the nightmare is over.
"Da!" Kade shouted.
He finally put me down and Kade immediately crawled towards me.
"Da!" Kade shouted again, his chubby little arms reaching up toward Keifer.
Keifer scooped him up effortlessly, holding him high in the air. Kade giggled, a sound so pure and infectious that it made my heart swell.
"See? Told you I'm fine," Keifer said, glancing at me with that smirk I'd missed so much. The one that said he knew exactly what he was doing to me.
I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't stop the smile spreading across my face. "Fine. You're fine. Happy now?"
"Very," he said, bringing Kade down to press a kiss to his forehead before turning to me. "But you know what would make me happier?"
"What?"
He stepped closer, Kade still balanced on his hip. "If you stopped worrying so much."
"I'm not worrying," I lied.
"Jay." His voice softened, and he reached out to brush a strand of hair from my face. "I'm okay. We're okay."
I felt my throat tighten. "I know. I just—"
"I know," he said gently. "But it's over now. No more accidents, no more hospitals. Just us."
Kade babbled something incoherent and reached for me, and I took him from Keifer's arms. He immediately settled against me, his little fingers curling into my shirt.
"See?" Keifer wrapped his arm around both of us. "Perfect."

The next few weeks fell into a rhythm. Morning walks with Kade in the stroller, Keifer insisting on pushing even though I told him he didn't have to. Afternoon naps that somehow always turned into all three of us piled on the bed. Evenings spent cooking together, Keifer's arms wrapping around me from behind while I stirred the pot.
"You're going to burn the sauce," I'd say, leaning back into him.
"Worth it," he'd murmur against my ear.
Kade would be in his high chair, smashing peas into his tray with intense concentration, and I'd think—this is it. This is what I almost lost.
---
One night, after Kade was asleep, Keifer found me on the balcony, staring out at the city lights.
"Hey," he said softly, coming to stand beside me. "You okay?"
I nodded, but he didn't buy it.
"Jay."
"I'm fine," I said. "I was just thinking."
"About?"
I turned to face him. "About how scared I was. In the hospital. When I didn't know if you'd—" I stopped, swallowing hard.
He reached out and took my hands. "But I did. I came back."
"You did."
"And I'm not going anywhere." He pulled me closer, his forehead resting against mine. "You, me, Kade. That's it. That's everything."
I closed my eyes and let myself believe it. "Promise?"
"Promise," he said. "Now come inside. It's cold out here."
He led me back in, and we settled onto the couch, his arm around me, my head on his chest. The TV played some movie neither of us was watching.
"I love you," I said quietly.
He kissed the top of my head. "I love you too, Jay. More than anything."
---
Kade woke up crying around midnight. I started to get up, but Keifer was already moving.
"I got him," he said, pressing a kiss to my forehead. "Get some rest."
I watched him walk to the nursery, his steps confident, healthy. No trace of the man I'd seen in that hospital bed.
When he came back, Kade was asleep on his shoulder, his little face peaceful.
"He wanted you," Keifer whispered, carefully placing Kade in the bassinet beside our bed. "But I told him you needed sleep."
I laughed softly. "You told him that?"
"Mmhmm. He seemed to understand."
Keifer climbed back into bed and pulled me close, my back against his chest. His arm wrapped around my waist, his breath warm against my neck.
"Jay?"
"Mm?"
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For staying. For not giving up on me."
I turned in his arms to face him. "Never. Not ever."
He kissed me then, slow and deep, and when we finally pulled apart, his eyes were bright.
"Good," he said. "Because I'm not planning on giving you a reason to."
I smiled and tucked myself against him, listening to the steady beat of his heart.
This was our life. Chaos, laughter, sleepless nights, and endless love.
And I wouldn't trade it for anything.
