Davion was waiting when Leona got home, sitting in his study with the door open. He didn't say anything as she walked past, just gestured for her to enter.
"Where were you last night?" he asked once she was seated.
"Out with Dorian and Thalia. We lost track of time."
"Try again. And this time, don't lie to me." Davion's eyes were hard. "I've had reports of a fight at an underground ring. A fight involving Bloodclaws, including their heir. And witnesses say a young Moonshadow woman jumped into the ring to help him."
Leona's stomach sank. "Dad, I can explain…"
"Explain what? How you risked your life to save our enemy? How you disappeared for hours with Lucas Crisen? How you're making a mockery of everything I've taught you?"
"It wasn't like that. The situation was complicated…"
