Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Unfair Father and Son

Rex suddenly felt a sharp pain in his left leg, and looked down to find a tear in the jeans at his left knee.

He instinctively reached out to touch the painful spot, and a slippery sensation immediately came from his fingers!

Before he could recover from the pain, the rustling sound from the bushes behind him stimulated his nerves again.

Realizing he couldn't just sit there and wait, Rex used all his strength to get up, enduring the pain in his leg, and continued to run forward.

He struggled to climb over a fallen tree trunk and breathlessly scrambled down the steep slope.

However, the rustling sound behind him not only didn't disappear but also gave him a feeling of getting closer and closer.

This feeling was very bad, and he quickened his pace again.

Running through the wildly overgrown bushes around him, all he smelled was the earthy scent of leaves.

Soon, he heard the gurgling sound of water flowing over stones.

He looked closely and saw a continuously flowing small river not far ahead.

Suddenly, a Shadow swept past him, knocking him completely to the ground, leaving him dizzy and disoriented.

Rex endured the severe pain in his body, struggled to prop himself up, desperately wanting to know what had attacked him.

He tried to look forward, his eyes, already wide with fear, suddenly constricted!

A pair of eyes, emanating an evil aura and glowing with a purple light, emerged from the bushes ahead.

Rex only felt as if his body was about to freeze, and his mind was a blank.

Frightened, Rex wanted to stand up and escape from there.

But his heart was already filled with fear, and he found his legs trembling uncontrollably.

Just as he thought he was about to be eaten by the monster hidden in the darkness, footsteps suddenly came from behind him.

"Splash!"

The next second.

The grass was pushed aside, and Peter looked in surprise at the bald boy lying on the ground, dumbfounded.

He was driving back from Kent Farm when he heard footsteps and heavy breathing nearby, so he got out of the car to check the situation, not expecting to see a bald boy.

"Are you alright?"

Peter looked at the bald Rex and extended his hand to him.

He thought the boy was some mischievous child from a nearby family.

Rex looked at Peter's outstretched hand and grabbed it.

The emotion of surviving a disaster almost made him cry with excitement.

Holding Peter's hand, Rex excitedly pointed forward and said, "Sir, there's a monster there!"

Upon hearing this, Peter looked up in the direction he pointed.

There was only a pile of bushes ahead, and nothing suspicious.

He frowned slightly and cast his gaze into the distance.

This place indeed had a strange aura about it.

Patrick Farm.

Clark was holding a "Funk & Wagnalls Standard English Dictionary" and looking up English words.

The "man-eating bug" that Martian Manhunter had told him about in the evening bothered him greatly.

"Haunted, meaning frequently visited by ghosts."

Clark held the dictionary and read out the explanation of the word: "Haunting, meaning constantly appearing in one's mind, hard to forget."

Mark heard Clark's mumbling and came over, asking curiously, "Clark, are you studying words?"

"No, I just associated it with something bad."

Clark read out the third word in the dictionary, "to haunt."

"These three words are all related to haunt, and when haunt is regarded as a noun, it has an explanation: a place where an animal preys."

He said this while putting down the dictionary, scratching his head, "Detective Jones said that what descended upon the town wasn't an alien, but an alien parasite, so is this place… a haunt?"

Mark shook his head, "I don't know, but whatever that bug is, I will deal with it, so don't worry, Clark, I will protect Father and you."

Clark wasn't as optimistic as Mark, especially after Tang died, he always felt a sense of guilt.

"Are you scared, Mark?"

"No, haven't you heard a saying, Clark, 'If you yourself fall into a story, then everyone knows you should only feel scared at the end, not now.' "

Mark picked up a cookie and put it in his mouth, "Father said this."

Just as he mentioned Peter, a car engine suddenly sounded outside, and Peter drove back to the farm.

On the way, Peter had already found out that the bald boy was Rex Luther.

He hadn't expected that he could just pick up the future Superman's arch-nemesis—Rex Luther—on the road.

Looking at the boy's smooth head, Peter understood why this boy would later be "one of the smartest people on Earth."

Having such a "strong man's hairstyle" from a young age, he would definitely achieve great things in the future.

In addition, although this boy was Clark's opponent, if their relationship could be reversed.

Perhaps, the other party would become a future help for him and Clark.

Rex, who had gotten out of the car, didn't know that Peter was complaining about his "bald head," and he curiously surveyed the farm.

Looking at the "dilapidated" farm in front of him, he secretly made up his mind to ask his father for money to buy a bigger farm for Mr. Peter.

After all, Mr. Peter had just saved him from the monster.

Mark and Clark in the living room came out after hearing the sound, and saw a bald boy getting out of the car with Peter.

Mark cautiously stepped forward and asked, "Father, who is this?"

He always felt that the bald boy in front of him gave him a very bad feeling.

"This is Rex Luther, you can get to know each other."

Peter patted the somewhat reserved Rex on the shoulder, "Go inside and play with John and Clark, I've already called your father, he'll be here soon."

Rex nodded and thanked Peter again: "Thank you, Mr. Peter."

Half an hour later, Leno Luther rushed to the farm, and after seeing his son safe and sound, he let out a long sigh of relief.

After thanking Peter, he drove away from the farm with Rex.

After the Luther father and son left, Mark told him about John Jones.

"John Jones?"

Peter listened to the name and fell into contemplation.

He remembered Martian Manhunter had used that name.

The image of a green-skinned, bald man in blue shorts (the shorts not even covering his leggings) appeared in his mind.

Martian Manhunter's superpowers were very similar to Clark's, but he was more versatile than Clark, possessing abilities such as telepathy, shapeshifting, and invisibility.

Although the other party's abilities were powerful, he also had a fatal weakness, and coupled with an image that was not as sunny and handsome as Clark's, his popularity was low, and he was said to have tried to switch careers to become a nanny in the later stages.

He himself was indeed in need of a nanny, and he wondered if this superhero was interested.

Martian Manhunter at this moment would never have imagined that neither of these father and son were good people.

One wanted him to be a black slave on the farm, and the other wanted him to be a nanny.

Shaking his head, Peter dismissed the idea of Martian Manhunter as a nanny from his mind and focused on the alien parasite.

Was Tang's death also caused by this alien parasite?

He looked up, his gaze directed at the dark night outside the window.

In the night, it seemed that lurking devourers were hidden, quietly waiting for their prey.

The next day, early morning.

Peter had just gotten up when he received a call from Jonathan, "Peter, something happened!"
