Chapter 1 - Falling Into Darkness

She took a sip of the drink as he watched her. It gave off a taste Zu Yiyao wasn't familiar with.

Too sweet, with a bitter aftertaste. She ignored the thoughts that are going through her mind and decided to focus on her date.

Not so long after, she started feeling dizzy,

too dizzy for someone who's sober and doesn't take alcohol.

It's not that she's sick or something. She looked at the glass of wine in her hand as her suspicions grew.

Her eyes went to the man seated opposite her, he seemed to relaxed like he was waiting for something to unfold, he had a mischievous look in his eyes.

Yi Yao was alarmed at this point, she had to do something, she stood and made to leave but the man wasn't having it.

"Where are you going?" He asked.

"I feel sick all of a sudden, I need to go, we can have the date another day..."

"You can rest here" he cut her mid sentence".

"No, I have to go", she carried her handbag and made to leave when he grabbed her wrist tight and told her she can't leave.

"What are you doing?" She was getting visibly angry at that point.

"Let go of my hand"!

But the man tightened his grip on her, and made attempts to drag her towards the bed.

"Do you have a death wish??? She shouted at him, Zu Yiyao have never been in that kind of situation before, no one was daring enough to do it.

She's respected and adored by literally everyone in the country, but what she didn't know is that there are people who are just evil by birth and would do anything to bring you down.

She never expected anyone to do such a thing to her, she had little faith in humanity.

She had decided to go on a date with a man, she wanted to try it out as she has haven't tried it before, then she met a man named Hei Ying.

He was all sweet and cute to her in her chats, proposed a date and she agreed, oblivious of the fact that he has ulterior motives.

"I've long waited for this day to come, the day you'll finally fall into my trap and voila! here you are...", Hei Ying said while holding on to her with a devilish smirk on his face.

Zu Yiyao was stunned and angry at the same time.

She sighed calmly and stood still.

" Let go of me while I'm being nice, for the last time", she said coldly.

"Awwwn... I'm so afraid, what are you going to do if I don't?" He mocked her and continued.

I don't think I'll leave you alone cutie cat, I plan on ravishing you mercilessly tonight while the paparazzi watched...", he paused, glanced at the gold colored watch on his wrist and smiled.

"They should be here in the next thirty minutes. Also it's about time the drugs in your system started working, don't worry...I plan on making it less painful for you. You'll certainly enjoy it dear".

Zu Yiyao was so disgusted and nervous at the same time. She needed to act fast before she becomes drowsy from the effect of the drug, she could feel it kicking in already.

Looking around, she saw that the closest weapon her arm could grab at that moment was the wine bottle on the table, she swiftly darted to the side, picked the bottle and smashed it hard on his head before he could process her actions.

Hei Ying screamed loudly and crouched down in pain whilst holding his head.

That wasn't enough, Zu Yiyao picked a broken shard on the floor and stabbed it into his stomach with all her strength and blood gushed out, staining her clothes.

She picked her bag and made straight to the door. Her hand gripped the handle and stopped, she turned around and looked at the figure on the floor writhing in pain.

"Your family will hear from me soon... no one messes with the Zu family and goes scot-free".

She turned around and walked out of the room.

She knew she shouldn't have gone there, what was she thinking? Her best friend had warned her severely about him. She could still remember the exact words she used that day.

"Girl, he's not to be trusted, don't go there alone". Yet, she paid deaf ears and went ahead to plan a date with him, not knowing he truly had other plans.

She remembered she almost grew suspicious of him when he texted her the venue for the date, 'Phantom Villa, room number: 402.

She had wondered why he chose a hotel, instead of the restaurants where people normally go for dates.

She later shook off the feeling, judging it to be because of her identity. Maybe he was just being considerate enough to shield her from the wary eyes of the paparazzi, so she had thought.

Now, she knows better, still fighting the drowsiness that's threatening to overshadow her whole being, coupled with the burning sensation in her throat. Her legs had turned to jelly and she was having great difficulty dragging them along with her.

She clutched her handbag with one hand and used the other to hold onto surfaces, whilst trying to make her way towards the elevator, her main aim is to get to the hotel's parking lot.

At this rate, she feared she wouldn't make it there on time before losing consciousness.

Leaning on one of the doors for support and scrambled through her bag in search of her phone, she had to call her best friend, Bai Shuying, but luck wasn't on her side as her phone went off the moment she was about to dial Shuying's number.

"Damn it!!", she cussed out loud. She had forgotten to charge her phone before coming out.

The heavens certainly weren't on her side that very day. It was like they're already punishing her for not heeding her best friend's advice. Her arrogance has brought her to her doom this time.

The drowsiness has now kicked in everywhere seemed to be rotating.

"No, No, No! Not here please!. She panicked. Tears started flowing from her beautiful eyes. She had to move forward, she trudged with the last bit of strength in her, but as she held onto the handle of a door on the left side of the hallway, it gave way and she fell right into the room.

"Ah!", she scraped her knee and her arm which guided the fall hurts. She sniffed, tears flowing heavily from her eyes.

She has fallen into a stranger's room, what would happen to her then?

She immediately struggled to get back on her feet so she could leave immediately.

With the last strength she could muster, she stood and took a step.

'Thud!'. She fell again and twisted her ankle in the process.

Her whole body ached as she laid on the ground breathing heavily, the ceiling looked like it was gravitating towards her.

She let out a dry laugh and allowed the darkness to pull her in.

She lost consciousness and at the mercy of the room owner, whoever they are.
