Chapter 105 - Chapter 105 - Rd1 No Way Out

If Demir and I weren't about to get our heads burned off, I would've done anything to get these shameless idiots caught.

'Hopefully next time you get caught completely naked. Amen!'

While I was cursing my own miserable fate, I heard someone else enter the room, and my embarrassment instantly turned into panic.

Damn it. Because of these disgusting people, I hadn't had a chance to warn Demir that a guy named Levent was coming down here.

We had no chance to escape now. We were about to get caught—both of us.

I honestly didn't know how much more my poor heart could handle.

"Cem! Did you hear that?"

"What?"

"You've gotten paranoid, gi—"

"Shh! Listen!"

Footsteps echoed through the room. From the frantic rustling, it was obvious the other two officers were scrambling to fix their clothes.

"Cem. Merve."

"Levent! What's up, bro?"

Despite the suspicion in Levent's voice, Cem answered casually, though you could still tell his breathing was faster than normal.

Considering what he'd just been doing and his effort not to get caught, he was pulling himself together pretty well—unfortunately.

"I'm fine. But you two look a little… tired."

"No. You're imagining things." Cem forced a laugh. "Anyway, we should go. Come on, Merve. Good luck, bro. See you."

"Yeah. Oh, and Cem?"

"Yeah?"

"Your zipper is open, 'bro.'"

'Go, Levent! Or—wait. Don't. I'm not sure I want you to find us.'

At Levent's teasing, loaded words, Cem said nothing. But we heard him and Merve rush out, desperate to avoid humiliating themselves any further.

Perfect.

Now we were trapped with Levent.

And since he worked with Demir's father, he was even more dangerous than the other two.

From the sounds, it was clear Levent was slowly moving closer. I looked at Demir helplessly.

He pressed a finger to his lips, signaling me to stay quiet, then took my hand and crouched.

I understood and copied him. Staying as silent as we could, we moved along the shelves toward the door.

When Levent stopped, we dropped into a crouch beside the shelf and waited.

We were getting close to the exit, but we were moving along the left wall of the storage room, while the door was on the right. The distance we had to cross was not small. That meant we needed to be sure Levent's attention was elsewhere when we made our move.

A few seconds later, he started walking again, and we continued, keeping low.

We were almost at the exit when I saw a rat scurry past me. I panicked, lost my balance, and fell straight onto my butt.

The noise from me hitting the shelf made me look at Demir in terror.

"Who's there?"

Footsteps rushed toward us. Demir immediately helped me up. Without letting go of my hand, he pulled us between two long shelves.

We moved on one side of the shelf while Levent moved on the other. If he reached the wall before we reached the far end of the shelf, we were done.

With a sudden move, Demir shifted to the side of the shelf and pulled me in front of him.

At the same moment, Levent reached the wall.

We made ourselves as small as possible, praying the side of the shelf would hide us. I had no doubt Levent was scanning the room.

After a few clinks and a tired sigh, I finally released the breath I'd been holding without realizing it.

"Poor little rats. I can't even imagine the trauma you've been through. If I had to watch those two cooking it up, I'd probably bounce off the walls like you too."

I pressed my hand over my mouth so I wouldn't laugh out loud. Levent seemed like a pretty unhinged but entertaining guy.

When Demir nudged me and pointed at the door, I nodded and took his hand again.

We waited a little longer. When Levent started walking toward the far end of the room again, we crouched and hurried to the exit.

Once we slipped out and reached the top of the stairs, Demir gestured for me to go first.

I reached the entrance floor and walked with calm steps toward the exit of the station.

The second I hit fresh air, I took a deep breath.

But I decided it wasn't smart to fully relax yet. I walked down the stairs slowly and turned into the street where we'd parked the car.

When I reached the car, I noticed Demir had already unlocked it, and I got in.

Leaning back, I closed my eyes and waited for my heart to slow down.

When Demir slid into the driver's seat, I cracked my eyes open and watched him toss the cap and vest into the back seat.

"Well?"

He turned toward me with a grin, pulled the file from inside his shirt, and I grinned back in massive relief.

"Good job, Jigglypuff."

Laughing, I high-fived the hand he lifted.

"You weren't bad either."

He pulled out his phone and called someone while I worked on fastening my seatbelt.

"It's done, bro. We're coming."
