Upon hearing this, Evelyn and Eleanor were both stunned, looking at Caden Lockwood, thinking he must be joking.
The most bewildered was Evelyn. In one day, Caden had twice referred to her as his wife, which inevitably made her suspicious—if the same joke is told too often, people might just believe it!
"Impossible!" Eleanor couldn't take it anymore and shouted, "Brother Caden, the one who's supposed to marry you is me, it's me!"
"Eleanor." Caden's tone was full of warning.
Eleanor looked at Caden unwillingly, then at Evelyn in his arms, finding it hard to believe that Brother Caden, who never liked to make contact with girls, would have his hand on a woman.
But Eleanor understood that if she didn't do something, she would truly lose this man she deeply loved.
"I'm sorry." Eleanor said softly.
She still didn't dare to anger Caden Lockwood.
Evelyn looked at Eleanor, her lips curving into a bitter, cold smile.
