After Melinda left the house in tears, Jason went up to his room, he freshened up before going down for dinner. Once he was done eating, he brought out his work and started working in the living room. Though he denied it,he just wanted to wait till Elena's return. He feared for her safety and at the same time, he suspected her of going over to meet her secret lover.
He felt bitter when he remembered how nonchalant she behaved while he discussed with another woman. That was the act of an unfaithful wife.
He felt a surge of mixed feelings in his heart. He wanted evidence to prove that she was cheating so he could divorce her while he'd have the company's shares all to himself, but a part of him prayed that, that wouldn't happen. He hoped she wasn't really doing what he had been suspecting her of. But why did he feel that way? He told himself it was just that he did not want his male ego to get hurt.
He worked, meanwhile wait for Elena in the living room, he checked the time on his wristwatch every single moment.
Soon he heard the sound of a car,he unconsciously let out a deep relieved sigh.
After waiting so patiently for her, she walked into the house. But he immediately felt infuriated when she made to walk in after giving a one word answer.
He asked her to wait, when she did, Jason placed the laptop on the coach carefully before sitting upright. He felt more dissatisfied with her after Melinda showed up in the picture.
Unlike most wives, she didn't throw any tantrum when her husband's mistress showed up, it could only be that she really didn't like him, since she most likely had a boyfriend or maybe she had no interest in the marriage, except of course, the shares in her hands. That could be it, he shook his head as he thought quietly.
"Sit down, Elena." He said In a dominating voice. She frowned, a quiet silent followed. She hesitated for a while before sitting down across him. She waited for him to say what he had on his mind.
He looked very cold at that moment. Elena felt confused, why did she feel like the table had turned, wasn't she supposed to be the angry one? Why then did he look so pissed?
He was supposed to be happy at the very least. Anyways she'd just listen to him since she had already sat down.
"Do you realise your actions are very demeaning?" He also didn't know how to start the conversation, he just said the first sentence that came to his mind. Elena was stunned.
"Demeaning, you say?" When? She wondered, he probably was just looking for faults with her.
"Yes .. very, do you realise that you left me all alone in this house with a woman who told you she was my girlfriend?" He didn't know why, but he was beginning to be petty, he was also saying more words than he usually did.
Elena didn't know what to say to him. What did he want from her? She asked him, feeling quite confused.
"So?"
He looked even more colder when he heard her question.
"What did you do when you came back, after she's left?" He asked again.
"Of course, I want to discretely go to my room, but I see Mr Alan decided to work in the living room." She was getting a tip of what he meant but she just wanted to okay along with him and see where it leads the both of them, he was quite petty, there was no way she'd also stoop down to that level, the clash of two petty adults couldn't end well.
The temperature in the living room dropped. Jason was about to explode from anger from her sarcasm, though he tried his possible best to control his expression.
"What do you want?" Once again the table turned as he blurted out that question.
Elena wanted to hit him terribly.
"What do I want? I was forced to marry you, I now live with you in your own house like a stranger, my movements are nearly restricted because you always ask people to follow me any where I go ..., then your girlfriend shows up, and what? You want me to fight for something that doesn't nearly exist?" She glared at him angrily.
"Forced, you say? You married me because of my father's company shares!!" His anger also raised as hers. Elena laughed.
"I wasn't even aware of that until after our wedding, how then did I marry you because of shares I know nothing about? If I really wants company shares, I'll struggling with Cassy for my father's company!" Her tone increased. She felt the urge to throw a punch at him.
"We both know your father's company is nothing compared to my father's." Her pointed out. Elena looked at him in disbelief, was that how little he thought of how? She wore a bitter smile.
"You're silly, if that's what you think of me, you don't need to look at a way to end this marriage so you can bring your sophisticated girlfriend to your house, I'll leave, not that I like it here in this dark pit anyways.."
She walked out of the house before he could even react to her words.
