Chapter 1 - (1) My Hero Epidemic!

Hey guys, I'm a new author so pardon me if it seems bad. I'm sure it won't be but please tell me how to improve.

★★★

Ever since I was a child, I've always dreamt of becoming a symbol of peace, a subtle of justice. I yearned for it with all my might and soul.

Whether it be doing thousands of push-ups at eleven or running circles around the island.

I grew up admiring the Marines, the way they stopped villains and pirates. Oh yes, pirates are the filth of this world. They steal, rob, and kill all for the sake of pleasure, I despised and hated them with all of my heart.

Well one day, the Marines didn't show up when my island was getting attacked by pirates. They stood by a pile of cash, counting. I still remember the number, 50 million berry. They let my friends and family die all for a little cash.

"NOOOO MOM!!!?!?!" I screamed out as a pirate brutally slit her neck open, blood came gushing out like a river.

"W-what have you done!!" I screamed out, laying next to her corpse. The pirate he looked at me, I didn't see any remorse, I didn't see any sadness. He laughed.

He laughed at me, tears threatening to come out of his eye-lids. The only thought I could muster was that I wanted to shred him into bits.

I took one look at him, my eyes were made of steel. I took one step forward before pouncing on him. I somehow managed to get the sword he killed my mother with, her gentle voice still remained in my mind.

"S-She hadn't done anything, and yet... and yet she died, mocked and laughed at," I muttered.

The pirate took one sneer at me, "give me back my sword kid, don't wanna make me angry now!!" he yelled out.

I quickly flicked from my moment of reflection into pure anger. In a fit of rage, I kicked him, punched him and then used the very sword he used to kill my mother to kill him.

"DIE!" I yelled out and stabbed him in the heart. He yelped in pain.

"ARGGGHHH STUPID KID!!!" he said clutching his chest, he staggered a few feet before dropping to the floor in a pool of his own blood.

I didn't even have my moment of peace since the pirates seeing that their crew mate had been killed quickly attacked me.

"You guys aren't innocent either... you killed everyone... so I have to kill you!!!" I yelled out and proceeded to cut them all down.

I had never welded a sword before but yet I had managed to ward off an entire group of pirates. But honestly, I didn't really care about all of that.

"Everyone around me is gone."

And whose fault is that? Was it the pirates for killing them, or was it the Marines for not helping?

Or was it my fault for not intervening earlier...

For days, I walked around aimlessly, kicking rocks. That event had made me re-think my whole perspective on life.

Was it the Marines fault for not participating? Well, I hated how they just stood there counting cash instead of helping. Wasn't their job to help people who are suffering, but is it their fault when they don't?

I didn't know what to think. Well... it's clear that everyone is evil.

But I can't be the judge of that. Whose to say that the person who killed 10 can't help 100.

I don't know the fate of someone, so who am I to rob them of their chance of redemption? Who am I to rob the person who this evil person might save?

But yet again, why should I allow someone who killed ten people to live. Well... I guess I killed around that number as well.

"Does that make me as evil as them?" I asked myself.

"Surely not, the reasons are different..."

So I came to one single solution. I must simply stop them from becoming evil. I will not kill them, I will save them from their fate. [1]

I will not allow a single soul to die.

So here I am now, ten years later in the east blue, twenty-two years old and ready to go off on an adventure to save everyone.

The air is so refreshing, the view of the sky looks as if it were painted by God, it is mesmerizing and eye-catching. However, the ocean seems to be a bit of trouble. There is a sort of whirlwind picking up in the blue waters.

"Nothing I can't take care of!" I said, my ship was relatively small, which would be a problem for most was actually more of an advantage for me.

I quickly jumped off the ship, the tsunami was roughly 200-300m away from here, so I had a bit of time before it hit me.

Once I entered the waters my clothes were soaking wet but I quickly regained my balance and managed to get my feet above the water, I grabbed my ship and started running across the water at break-neck speed.

*BOOM!*

I had broken the sound-barrier, all that you could see as I was running through water was a faint figurine of a boat and a man. There was also a drizzle of water left over.

Did I forget to mention, I'm pretty strong now!

"I would've flown over there but I needed some exercise," I said slowing my feet down as I arrived by a nearby port.

I would wait for the storm to stop before going on my boat again. Now you might ask, why don't you run or fly to your next destination? I honestly don't know, I just prefer the relaxing peace when I'm on a ship or boat. Flying is also good but when you do it so often a nice change of pace is nice.

"Clark! tough time again huh " a woman called out.

I turned around and saw a woman with brown hair tied up in a pony-tail, she was wearing a blue skirt and had a faint brown t-shirt on.

"Oh hey Ava!" I said, waving my hand up. It was truly a disappointment that I couldn't make it to Orange Town.

She went up to me and laughed straight at my face, I flinched but decided to ask.

"What's funny? Is there something on my face?"

"How.... w-were you going to get to the next town without a map?" she rhetorically asked with laughs in-between her question.

"I got it right here," she said handing me a rolled up map.

I smiled back, "thanks, don't know what I would do without you."

"That's why you should take me on your trip! I'm smart," Ava said putting her hand next to her temple.

"But you're weaker and skinny, I breathe on you and you'll just fall over like a toothpick!" I mocked, my arms waving up for effect. She didn't seem to like that.

"Yeah but I'm for fire smarter than you!!"

"Name 5 major parts of the brains," I said.

"..."

"How about you do it then smarty-pants," she said.

"cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, hypothalamus, and pituitary gland," I listed.

"YOU JUST MADE THAT UP!?!" she said pouting. I laughed back at her.

"You're just not on my level yet," I replied.

"It makes no sense, ever since that day you got a lot stronger and smarter, well not as smart as me but for sure stronger. And you gained some epic abilities!" Ava said.

"Uhuh..."

I remembered that day like no other...

[1] I feel like this might be very vague to some of you guys. What I am saying is that he will be someone who stops the death, he will not allow the villain to become a villain. He will not let them kill, he will not give them a reason to be labelled as such. Very idealistic and unrealistic but that is the such of heroic characters.
