It's been two days since I've seen Keane Lowell.
Summer sunshine was illuminating the crepe myrtle trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Claire Prescott was napping in a hammock under the tree.
During her physiological period, she always slept deeply once she fell asleep. She hadn't noticed the shadows moving away from her, half of her body exposed to direct sunlight, causing her to sweat all over.
It was Septima who noticed and woke her up from her dream.
"You'll get sunburned if you keep sleeping outside. Go inside."
Claire Prescott, feeling weak, leaned against Septima's waist, and only after resting for a while did she go inside to drink the soup Septima had made for her.
Her grandmother always remembered her physiological period each month, cooking soup for her every time. This time, it came a few days earlier, and when her grandmother found out, she rushed to the supermarket for ingredients late at night.
