Jenifer's POV
I frowned, visibly irritated. "Reed, do you even go online? Seriously, what does cheating mean to you? Do I need to walk in and catch you in bed before you'll admit it?"
I could sense Reed pressing his lips into a thin line on the other end. He'd probably seen all the online hate being thrown at him and Lorelei, but honestly, none of it seemed to faze him. People could talk all they wanted; he clearly wasn't bothered.
After what felt like forever, Reed's icy voice cut through the phone. "My conscience is clear."
*A clear conscience, huh?* I scoffed inwardly, my anger bubbling just beneath the surface.
"If your conscience is clear, then I have nothing else to say," I replied, keeping my tone steady but cold.
"As for Lorelei, I'm not backing down, no matter what you try. Threats won't work on me. If it comes to total ruin for both of us, so be it. Let's see who loses everything first," I added.
My voice stayed low, but my determination was rock-solid.
