I drew in a sharp breath, jaw clenched against the throbbing pain, and fired back icily, "You just struck one of my team. Did you really think I'd stay silent?"
Lorelei's gaze flicked between Elise and me, her expression puzzled.
A cruel laugh escaped her lips. "Oh, so she belongs to you? That explains why she runs her mouth so freely."
My eyebrows drew together, irritation flaring at her mocking tone.
"Lorelei, you better think twice before you speak. Don't push me to abandon my restraint," I warned, my voice cutting through the air.
Her eyebrow lifted, voice thick with contempt. "Jenifer, being the Zach heir has really gone to your head, hasn't it? You actually believe you wield real influence?
"Pathetic. One word from me, and regardless of what I do to you, Reed will rush to my defense and clean up my mess.
