"The cops dragged Lorelei away. Word is your wife orchestrated the whole thing. Look, I didn't want to drag you into this mess, but just look at my situation—who else can I turn to?" Stewart slumped forward, defeat written all over his face.
My eyebrows drew together in confusion.
"What did the police want with Lorelei?" I asked, genuine worry creeping into my voice.
I'd talked to Jenifer twice today, and she hadn't breathed a word about Lorelei getting arrested.
'Why does Stewart sound so convinced Jenifer was behind this?' I wondered, an uncomfortable chill settling in my gut.
Stewart released a weary sigh. "It's all because of you."
'Because of me?' My confusion deepened.
Reading my expression, Stewart rushed to clarify, "Lorelei uploaded that video that went viral—the one from outside the kindergarten. Jenifer claimed she was spreading false information and called in the authorities.
