Chapter 2 - Caught in the Act

JAY-JAY POV

Where did that roster disappear to?

Ugh, I swear, when I get my hands on him… he's dead meat.

Just then, my phone buzzed.

I glanced at the screen and my irritation melted instantly. It was Raffy.

"Hi, Raffy," I answered, my voice instantly softening, filled with happiness.

Raffy—my younger brother.

Four years younger than me, but always the one who could brighten my mood no matter what.

"Hey, Ate Jay," he said, his tone playful but warm. "You sound mad. Who's in trouble this time?"

I laughed, shaking my head. "Don't worry about it. Just… someone who owes me big time. But forget that—how are you?"

"I'm good," he said, "but tell me… when are you coming?"

"Soon, Raffy," I answered, trying to sound convincing.

"Ate, that's what you said a month ago," he complained. "And Kuya Percy keeps making excuses."

I couldn't help but laugh, shaking my head. "You're such a nag, Raffy. But fine, fine—I'll make it happen."

"Ate, it's either you come here or I'll come there," Raffy said, half‑serious, half‑threatening me in that little‑brother way.

I opened my mouth to answer, but a car horn blared outside, snapping me out of the moment.

"Raffy, I'll call you later, okay? Bye, take care," I said quickly, cutting the call before he could argue back.

I sighed, staring at my phone.

He never let me off easy—and honestly, I kinda loved that about him.

I turned to see who had the nerve to honk at me. The audacity. Seriously.

And of course—it was none other than Mark Keifer Watson.

Oh god I'm in trouble

I didn't tell anyone I was coming here.

So how the heck did that roster know?

"Jay, why are you here?" Keifer's voice cut through the air. "Why did you come here alone?"

I rolled my eyes a little, but answered anyway. "Keifer… I just wanted to hear Drew's explanation."

His brows furrowed, frustration clear. "That doesn't mean you get to show up here by yourself. Do you even realize how dangerous this is?"

I bit my lip, lowering my gaze. "Sorry," I whispered, flashing my best puppy‑dog eyes.

It always works.

"Let's go. Get in the car," Keifer said firmly.

I nodded and slid into the passenger seat, the door clicking shut behind me.

"Keifer…" I started softly.

"Hmm?" His eyes stayed on the road, but I could hear the edge in his voice.

"Can you… please forgive Drew?" I asked, almost pleading.

He shot me a look. "Jay, why? Because of him you almost died"

I leaned back, sighing. "Come on, Keifer. He only did it because of the debt his dad made. Do you really think Drew would have dragged me into this if it wasn't for something serious?"

Keifer's jaw tightened, his silence louder than words.

I knew he was angry, but I also knew—deep down—he cared.

"Please, please," I begged, practically bouncing in my seat. "If you forgive him, I'll give you anything you want!"

Suddenly, Keifer slammed the brakes, and my heart jumped into my throat.

We were at the end of the street near my house.

Great.

Perfect.

Totally not suspicious at all.

"Anything?" he smirked, eyes glinting like he'd just won the lottery.

I nodded way too fast. "Anything you want!" I said, trying to sound confident but probably looking like a total mess.

"Fine," he said casually.

My eyes widened. "Wait—really? You forgive Drew?"

He nodded, all calm and collected, like this was no big deal.

Meanwhile, my brain was doing cartwheels.

Then he leaned closer, voice low. "Now tell me… do you like me?"

And just like that, my soul left my body.

 Excuse me?! WHAT?!

This was not part of the deal.

My heart was racing.

"No," I said, dead serious, trying to keep my voice steady.

His eyes softened immediately, and for a second, I swear he looked like he was about to cry.

He turned forward, shoulders tense.

"It's okay if you don't trust me because of what I did," he murmured. "It's reasonable for you to ha—"

Nope.

Not letting him finish.

My brain short‑circuited, my hands moved before I even thought about it—

I grabbed him by the collar and kissed him.

He froze, shocked, and for a split second I panicked—what if he didn't kiss me back?

But then he did.

And oh my god, it was like the world tilted.

We finally broke apart, breathless, my chest heaving like I'd just run a marathon.

"I don't like you…" I whispered, staring right into his eyes. "…because I love you."

"So… does this mean you want us to make it official?" Keifer asked, his voice almost trembling.

I nodded, and oh my gosh—he looked like he was about to cry again, but this time it wasn't sadness.

It was pure happiness.

He pulled me into a hug, pressing a kiss to my head.

"This is all I wanted to hear, Jay," he whispered.

Then he added, "I love you until scientists find the end of the universe."

My heart basically exploded.

"I love you too, Keifer," I said, grinning like an idiot.

He leaned in for what was supposed to be a soft kiss.

Yeah, right.

Wrong.

Because somehow it deepened, turned into a full‑on French kiss, and when we finally broke apart, breathless, I realized—I was sitting in his lap.

"Still wondering how you got here?" Keifer asked, smirking like he already knew the answer.

I blinked at him, completely flustered. "Excuse me?! You're the culprit here, mister! You're the one who pulled me into this mess!"

He raised an eyebrow, all calm and collected, while I was basically combusting inside.

My heart was racing, my cheeks were on fire, and my brain was just a loop of oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.

"Don't look at me like that," I snapped, crossing my arms even though I was still in his lap. "This is YOUR fault."

Keifer chuckled, leaning closer. "If it's my fault… then I guess I don't mind being guilty."

And just like that, my brain short‑circuited again.

We were about to kiss again than a voice

"JASPHER JEAN MARIANO!"

I froze. My heart dropped straight into my stomach. Oh no. Oh no no no.

My brain: WHO EVEN YELLS MY FULL NAME LIKE THAT?!

My soul: Abort mission, abort mission!

My body: still sitting in Keifer's lap like a total disaster.

I whipped my head around, eyes wide, pulse racing.

Whoever it was… they had just caught me in the most chaotic situation of my life.
