Chapter 91 - Not even a goodbye

Thomas.

She left me sitting there.

Just like that.

No long goodbye. No explanation. Not even a proper glance over her shoulder. Just a quiet, almost distant "bye," and she was gone, walking out of the restaurant as if I were nothing more than a stranger she'd accidentally shared a table with.

I remained seated for several seconds after she disappeared through the door.

My jaw tightened.

Was she really that good of an actress?

Or was she truly… blank?

I leaned back in my chair slowly, dragging a hand down my face. The entire dinner replayed in my head in sharp fragments, the way she stared at me when I introduced myself. No flicker of recognition. No hesitation. Just confusion.

When I had said my name—Thomas—I'd expected something. Anger. Guilt. Panic. Anything.

But her eyes had only widened slightly, like she was trying to search for something that simply wasn't there.

And that was what unsettled me.
