Chapter 193 - Fifth Hokage

Konohagakure No Sato :

The Outer Walls :

The towering red walls of Konohagakure, tens of meters high, stood firm in the chilly mist of an early November morning. Wrapped in the autumn air and hidden beneath dense foliage, the outer barrier showed visible wear and tear—scarred testaments to its recent trial during the Chunin Exams.

Standing atop the massive structure were two figures looking down at the village below. Both wore long black cloaks embroidered with crimson clouds, paired with wide straw hats draped in white veils.

One of them stared down at the bustling streets with an indifferent expression, crimson eyes gleaming behind his veil. Beside him stood a much taller man carrying a massive, bandage-wrapped sword slung over his back.

"Seeing that broken section of the wall, I thought the Leaf would be at least half-destroyed," the taller man remarked. "To think everything looks completely fine... not a single building inside is damaged."

Hearing his companion's words, the red-eyed man surveyed the village, the tomoe in his eyes spinning slowly. "....According to the organization's intel, the Sand-Sound Alliance didn't even make it past the perimeter walls. The only real damage was at the stadium on the outskirts."

"As expected of the Leaf—the Glory of the strongest village in the ninja world still stands despite the 'Ambush' " the taller man chuckled, adjusting his straw hat. The movement revealed his strange blue skin and shark-like features. "Though they still managed to lose their Hokage, didn't they?"

THen The Taller man turned his gaze toward his partner. "Seeing your old home so peaceful... feeling nostalgic, Itachi-san?"

Itachi stared down at the quiet streets without a flicker of emotion. ".....No. Not at all."

His voice was slow, firm, and completely devoid of hesitation. Kisame smirked, looking back down at Konoha.

Still, knowing how easily the Leaf had crushed the Sand and Sound despite being caught off guard, he felt a brief flicker of caution.

(I heard two of the Legendary Sannin are currently inside the village.... along with plenty of other heavy hitters like Kakashi & That Weird 'Beast' )

Unlike usual, Kisame hesitated. "Is it really a good idea to infiltrate right now? I heard the Fifth Hokage's inauguration ceremony is happening today."

Itachi closed his eyes for a moment before speaking calmly. ".....That's the reason why it's the perfect time."

"Huh? Wouldn't security be even tighter than usual?"

"For a Hokage inauguration, it's completely natural for outsiders and foreign delegates to enter the village," Itachi explained. "That gives us our biggest cover."

"Ho..."

"Because of the recent invasion and the inauguration, security will certainly be strict... but it will also be spread thin across the entire village."

"...."

" And don't forget that Leaf lost quite a few Shinobi and even more Injured ......and if you include borders ......they are lacking in Manpower "

"That's true," Kisame acknowledged, nodding slightly. "I completely glossed over that. With Itachi-san's genjutsu, moving around unseen will be a breeze anyway."

Itachi turned slowly and began descending from the wall, leaving behind one last thought. "Both Sannin will be far too busy right now—handling village politics and Suna's official surrender.............. It's the ideal window to approach the Jinchuriki ....Our Objective "

Kisame's eyes widened slightly at the razor-sharp analysis. Smirking beneath his veil, he tipped his hat down and silently fell in behind Itachi.

Uzumaki Household:

It was morning, and the Uzumaki household was already up and about. Thanks to his shadow clones handling breakfast and the rest of the morning chores, Naruto was now standing quietly in his bedroom, looking in the mirror as he adjusted his clothes.

It had been a week since the Sand-Sound Invasion. The mourning ceremony was held five days ago, and today was the official inauguration of the Fifth Hokage.

But despite the massive scale of the occasion, absolutely no one—not Naruto, his friends, the villagers, the shinobi, or even the other Great Shinobi Villages—was surprised that the Fifth had been chosen so quickly, all within a week.

(...Well, it was an open secret among most high-level figures anyway.)

Yeah. Senju Tsunade, the granddaughter of the First Hokage, taking the mantle of the Fifth was something most of Konoha, and recently even the rival villages, had already anticipated.

With Tsunade returning to the village and slowly taking over Hokage duties, everyone—from the hidden spies to the everyday villagers—had already figured out that the Third was going to retire and Tsunade would step up.

That was also the main reason the village remained so peaceful despite the Third Hokage's sudden departure. And it wasn't just the village; the borders were dead silent too.

The other nations were likely intimidated by the fact that the Leaf hadn't fallen into turmoil despite facing a massive joint invasion from the Sand and Sound.

(Or they're still reeling in shock that Orochimaru used a forbidden jutsu to bring back the First and Second Hokage... and the Third was still able to deal with all of them.)

Naruto smirked at the ignorance of these people but soon shook his head, giving his collar one final tug. Today, he was wearing a sharp red-and-black kimono layered over an offset orange-leaf patterned undershirt. Seeing that he was fully ready, Naruto nodded and stepped out of the house.

Simba was perched comfortably on his shoulder like Pikachu, while Rem and Ram hovered quietly overhead.

Soon, Naruto was making his way toward the Hokage Office. As he walked down the street, he noticed that despite it being early morning, the entire village was awake and migrating toward the center of town.

The mood was genuinely joyful; everyone was eagerly looking forward to a new era.

( They move on fast .....well the main casualties were only in the stadium )

People were laughing, children were skipping along the roads, and couples were walking hand-in-hand. Interestingly, there was also a huge number of single guys and men hurrying along with bouquets of flowers in their hands, all desperate to get a look at the most beautiful woman in the Elemental Nations—the woman who was about to become their Fifth, and first female, Hokage.

Watching these men, who had seemingly forgotten all their recent grief and were marching forward with a completely "new" Will of Fire burning in their eyes, Naruto had only one thought.

(........MEN WILL BE MEN.)

Not that he wasn't looking forward to seeing Tsunade-nee in her Hokage robes, too. But whenever he thought of Tsunade, Naruto immediately recalled the savage, murderous face she had made during the invasion when she found out Orochimaru had actually resurrected the First and Second Hokage, disturbing their rest.

(.........It's good that Orochimaru ran away fast...... otherwise...)

Remembering her sheer rage, Naruto felt a cold shiver run down his spine , When Tsuande arrived at the stadium , The snake sannin was already gone , So the one who took princess Tsuande's rage were the Pitiful Sand as ssound already ran too .

And how did Tsuande's rage calmed down that day

SMASH SMASH

SMASH SMASH

SMASH SMASH

SMASH SMASH

SMASH SMASH

SMASH SMASH

Naruto shivered again as he kept pace trying to forget that memory.

Suddenly, while crossing an intersection, Naruto came face-to-face with Shikamaru and the Nara family. Spotting him, Shikamaru broke away from his Clan and strolled over to his side.

Seeing Shikamaru leave his family entourage, Naruto spoke up.

"Where is Uncle Shikaku?"

"...Dad's taking care of the troublesome things at the Hokage Office," Shikamaru sighed.

"Oh... So, how do you feel today... with the new Hokage?"

"Weird, I guess?"

"Hm?? Why?"

"Well...... A WOMAN for a Hokage...... Sounds really troublesome."

"Pftftftft Hahahaha!" Hearing this , Naruto simply couldn't hold back his laughter .

"Oy, I am serious here , don't you think they are pain "Shikamaru jutified himself seeing nAruto's reaction

"Well, then make sure the new Hokage won't hear this, otherwise you're gonna get a lot of workload....... Tsunade-nee can be petty."

"...Really??"

"Yeah, and after being petty........ she drinks, gambles, an—"

".....And she is a woman herself," Shikamaru interrupted, shaking his head. "Damn. The three misconducts of a shinobi...... all in one.... and that's our new Hokage..!!"

Hearing Shikamaru, Naruto smirked and picked up exactly where his friend had cut him off. "And.... SHE IS VERY PRONE TO VIOLENCE."

Hearing this Shikamaru's face paled .

But Right at that moment, another voice chimed in from directly behind both of them.

"...Instead of the Legendary Slug Sannin...... wouldn't the THUG SANNIN title be better?"

"Pfft...... THUG SANNIN."

"...That sounds good actually."

Naruto and Shikamaru both nodded at the new title. Then, it suddenly registered that a voice had just spoken from right behind them. But this time, having learned their lesson, neither Shikamaru nor Naruto showed any outward reaction. Instead, they simply kept walking, casually stepping to either side so the third person could seamlessly walk between them.

"..That's good advice, Shino," Shikamaru said smoothly.

"...Um." Naruto nodded along , not giving any reaction

"....."

Shino adjusted his dark glasses, mildly surprised by their lack of reaction, though he continued moving forward as he settled right between them.

(To think they would adapt )

Shino walked with his friends as they approached the Hokage Office plaza. Along the way, their whole brigade slowly merged together—Kiba, Akamaru, Sasuke, Neji, Lee, Choji, Gian, and a few other boys from their class.

"......The girls have really gone mad, eh," Kiba muttered, staring wide-eyed at the other side of the square.

"Such a magnificent display of youth.... SUBARASHII!!" Lee started crying anime tears while dropping to do rapid pushups, prompting both Neji and Sasuke to instinctively take a step back.

" *Crunch*crunch*....... Ino organized all that.... she was really motivated," Choji mumbled around a mouthful of chips.

"Well, it's the first Female Hokage after all," Suneo muttered, looking over at the absolute mob of girls.

" I am gonna be the New ANbu For Fifth " Gian patted his arm as he declared .

"......What a pain," Shikamaru sighed.

Watching everyone's reactions, Shino observed the situation analytically.

(I need to improvise to make the jumpscare better.)

Well, Shino had his priorities.

It wasn't just their friends—every single kunoichi in the village, plus the female civilians, had completely occupied the direct front of the Hokage building. The sheer collective pressure radiating from them was so intense that absolutely no one else was willing to step toward their position.

Young girls, women, beauties, elite kunoichi, middle-aged housewives, and even the elderly were all packed together. They had taken over the front of the Hokage Office and even commandeered the rooftops of the surrounding buildings.

Some girls were holding flowers, others were waving homemade cardboard signs, and there was even a massive banner hung across a balcony nearby.

(.......The females have really gone crazy.)

Senju Tsunade.

A strong, independent woman.

Who drinks, gambles, is notoriously loose with money, is prone to intense violence, and is totally rough around the edges...and also not much of Hygenic .

And was now the first female Kage in history.

Seeing all these factors come together into one fanatic TSunade nee, Naruto's eye twitched.

(......Let's make sure that Konoha didn't get destroyed this time.)

Naruto shook his head, but suddenly felt a familiar gaze on him. Turning his head, he made direct eye contact with Hinata, who was standing right in the thick of the crowd alongside Ino, Karin, Shizuka, and Yugao on a rooftop ,

All of them had their hands full with signs, and they were even wearing custom headbands printed with pro-Fifth Hokage slogans.

(....Just how did Ino manage to rope Yugao-nee into this too?)

Naruto held Hinata's gaze until the Hyuga heiress turned bright red and quickly looked away. He then shifted his eyes to Karin, who beamed back at him with a massive smile while aggressively waving a banner that read:

"TSUNADE-SAMA NO. 1!"

(.......She finally showed some emotions in full today.)

Karin looked genuinely happy, letting all her feelings out without restraint—a stark contrast to her usual guarded self. But considering that Tsunade had personally rescued both Karin and her mother from their hellish situation, her devotion was only natural.

(.......She is really happy.)

Moving his eyes to Yugao, Naruto noticed the elite ANBU member standing awkwardly on the corner of the rooftop, shyly swinging a heavy flag back and forth like it was her sword.

(...Yugao-nee is embarrassed.)

And lastly, Shizuka and Ino. Both girls were the frontline commanders today. They weren't just shouting and waving signs—they were actively directing the crowd's chants the entire time.

(........Almost like a festival.)

Suddenly, the ambient noise in the venue swelled as the shouts and chants erupted even more fiercely.

"Here she is!!"

"Tsunade-sama!!"

Naruto looked up at the main balcony of the Hokage roof as Tsunade finally stepped out, accompanied by the village elders, Shikaku, Inoichi, Jiraiya, Shizune, and a few others.

"Can't see anything good here, dammit!" Kiba growled, frustrated that they were stuck on the ground and completely submerged by the sea of cheering people.

"Let's change places then," Naruto smirked. He scanned the area before leaping straight up. Seeing this, the rest of the boys quickly followed his lead and jumped onto a nearby rooftop.

Landing on the high roof, Naruto finally got a clear, unobstructed view of the Fifth Hokage.

(.....Tsunade-nee really is beautiful.)

Naruto thought as the Roars increased .

The roar of tens of thousands of people rolled across Konohagakure like distant thunder.

Every single rooftop, balcony, and street surrounding the Hokage Tower was absolutely overflowing with villagers. Shinobi in flak jackets stood shoulder-to-shoulder with everyday merchants; academy kids rode on their parents' shoulders, elderly veterans leaned on their canes, and little kids frantically waved tiny banners bearing the crimson symbol of the Leaf.

Months of anxiety and uncertainty had finally come to an end.

It was finally time.

The Fifth Hokage was about to be inaugurated.

Up at the summit of the Hokage Tower, where the wind swept freely over the village, a solitary figure stood concealed behind the massive, ceremonial Hokage hat.

Slowly, a heavy silence spread through the massive crowd.

The wide, white kasa cast a deep shadow over her face. Its crimson canopy was trimmed in white, with the bold red kanji for 'Fire' sitting proudly across the front. Long, pale blonde strands peeked out from beneath the brim, swaying gently in the afternoon breeze, while the white ceremonial veil drifted softly over her shoulders.

Only the lower half of her face was visible. Smooth porcelain skin. Soft, rose-colored lips curved ever so slightly—not into an arrogant smirk or a forced mask of confidence, but into the calm, steady smile of someone who had weathered enough storms to stop fearing them.

She remained perfectly still. Yet, that stillness carried an indescribable, commanding weight.

Far below, the countless voices completely faded out until the only sound left was the wind. Nobody wanted to ruin the moment. Not after everything the village had just endured. Not after the death of the Third Hokage. Not after Orochimaru's brutal invasion.

Hidden beneath the shadow of that ceremonial hat stood the woman carrying the hopes of the entire Hidden Leaf.

The Fifth Hokage.

Senju Tsunade.

For a long heartbeat, she simply gazed out over the village from beneath the brim. The rooftops. The bustling streets. The towering Hokage Monument carved into the mountain beyond. The people...

Her people.

Then, she slowly lifted a hand.

Her fingers caught the brim of the hat in a graceful, almost reverent motion. With deliberate care, she raised the ceremonial kasa from her brow, letting the afternoon sunlight pour across her face.

A collective breath escaped the entire village.

Golden-blonde hair framed her sharp, elegant features, falling past her shoulders in smooth waves before tying into a long ponytail down her back. A few loose strands rested against her cheeks, softening the intense strength hiding underneath.

Her amber-brown eyes swept across the crowd. They weren't cold, but they weren't overly warm either. They were packed with pure confidence and resolve—the quiet assurance of someone who had buried comrades, fought impossible wars, and still found the strength to stand back up.

Right in the center of her forehead sat a small violet diamond—the Strength of a Hundred Seal. Its polished surface caught the sunlight like a flawless gem, a symbol instantly recognized by every medic and veteran shinobi in the crowd.

Her lips curled into a full, confident smile. She looked every bit the legendary kunoichi whose name had become synonymous with monstrous strength and unmatched medical genius.

Her ceremonial robes completed the entire vibe. The traditional white Hokage mantle draped elegantly over her shoulders, flashing its crimson lining whenever the breeze caught the fabric. Underneath it, she wore a muted grey kimono secured by a wide navy obi, and over that flowed her signature emerald-green haori, flapping like a banner in the wind and adding a splash of life to the formal attire.

The robes of the Hokage were the ultimate symbol of authority. For a fleeting moment, many among the older generation felt like history had just come full circle. The granddaughter of the First Hokage was now standing exactly where the legends once stood. The blood of the Senju had returned to lead Konoha.

Seeing all this

The silence finally broke.

IMAGE

Someone in the crowd started clapping.

Then another.

And another.

Within seconds, the entire village erupted. Thunderous applause echoed down every single street.

"Lady Tsunade!"

"The Fifth Hokage!"

"Long live the Hokage!"

"....The Sannin, and now the Fifth, finally in the flesh!"

".....SO BIG."

"Tsunade-sama, give me your children!"

"Dude??"

" SO BIG "

"The red robes look so cute on Tsunade-sama!"

"Is she really in her forties?"

"....Girls, beat that loudmouth!"

" SO BIG "

"NOOOO!"

"Where am I??? A celebration?? .......Is there sake??"

"So beautiful."

" SO BIG "

".........I wanna pee."

"Ahhh, my heart."

"Huh??"

"It's gone, gone FOREVER.....jihsh heart of mine is gonneeee"

"SOOO BIGGG.....!!! "

Children jumped up and down with sheer excitement. Academy students stared with sparkling eyes, looking at a literal textbook hero standing right in front of them. Civilians smiled with pure relief, many unable to hide the happy tears forming in their eyes. After days of heavy mourning and anxiety, seeing a new Hokage standing proudly above the village felt like a genuine promise for a fresh start.

Veteran shinobi exchanged quiet nods. Some crossed their arms; others just smiled faintly. They knew better than anyone who was standing up there. One of the Legendary Sannin. A woman who had survived three Great Ninja Wars. The absolute best medical ninja the world had ever seen, and a fighter whose monstrous strength was a battlefield legend.

Among the gathered Jonin, the respect was obvious.

Might Guy flashed his trademark blinding grin, throwing up an enthusiastic Smile

"Such youthful magnificence!"

Kakashi's eyes also curved lazily into a smile. "Looks like the village is finally back on its feet."

Kurenai smiled softly.

Asuma exhaled a thin stream of smoke

Watching the village's wild response from behind the Fifth, Shikaku Nara quietly took in the celebration with thoughtful eyes.

(Perhaps.... this is exactly what the village needs.)

Hiashi Hyuga dipped his head ever so slightly—a rare gesture of genuine respect from the strict clan head. Even the usually stone-faced ANBU stationed across the rooftops allowed themselves a brief moment of quiet satisfaction.

Down in the crowd, Ino, Karin, and the others were screaming at the top of their lungs, while Hinata and Yugao were totally swept up in the atmosphere, staring up at the Fifth Hokage in a complete trance.

Sakura's emerald eyes literally sparkled with admiration. "So cool..."

Even Sasuke, staying quiet as usual, kept his eyes entirely locked on the woman at the top of the tower. There was no denying it—she had an absolutely overwhelming presence.

( Especially when she hits ) Thought the Uchiha as he remembered The Prelimanary in chunin exams .

High above all the chaos, Tsunade looked down at the people who had just entrusted their entire future to her. The cheers washed over the Hokage Tower like crashing waves.

For the first time in what felt like years... the Hidden Leaf was smiling again.

And right there, beneath the fluttering white mantle of the Hokage, with the wind whipping her blonde hair behind her like a golden banner, Senju Tsunade stood tall. Not just as a legendary shinobi, but as the official Fifth Hokage of Konohagakure.

The Will of Fire had found its next bearer.

Konohagakure:

Training Ground 3 ( The same Evening ) :

Clang! Clang!

The sharp sound of kunai crashing together echoed across the training field as two genin went at it. Given the rapid pace of the clashes and the obvious lack of any lethal jutsus, it was clearly just a sparring match—a very serious, high-stakes spar, but a spar nonetheless.

Clang!

Suddenly, Sasuke sped up, lunging forward for another kunai clash. But this time, Naruto switched up his rhythm. Right as their blades met, Naruto stepped straight in and lightly clipped the back of Sasuke's leg.

"Ughh!"

Thrown completely off balance, Sasuke quickly adapted, throwing himself into a smooth backflip to disengage while trying to catch Naruto with a kick to the head on his way down. Meeting nothing but empty air, Sasuke flipped back onto his feet, spinning around to face Naruto again.

Whooshhh.

Suddenly, a shuriken whipped past his ear, slicing off a few loose strands of his hair. Sasuke broke out in a light sweat as he glanced back to see Naruto standing there in a casual throwing pose.

"With the Sharingan, the last thing you wanna do is take your eyes off your opponent, man," Naruto grinned.

"Tch."

Sasuke grunted, but he didn't argue. He knew Naruto was right. If he hadn't backflipped and lost track of the blonde for a split second, he wouldn't have been caught off guard.

Ever since the inauguration ceremony wrapped up, the two had decided to hit the training field. Sasuke had originally wanted to talk about a few things, but they ultimately ended up sparring first.

It wasn't like this was a first, either—they'd sparred plenty of times over the past few months. Today wasn't really any different, though Sasuke was definitely feeling the frustration.

(...Damn. It was just a millisecond that I took my eyes off him... and he launched a shuriken right through that tiny window.......... Seriously, who's the one with the Sharingan here? Tch.)

Shaking his head to clear the annoyance, Sasuke decided to ask about something that had been burning a hole in his chest all week.

"....How did you do that?"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"That beast... and those chains...!! What kind of jutsu was that?"

Hearing Sasuke's curiosity, Naruto nodded, deciding to explain since it wasn't some deep dark secret anymore.

"Oh, that? That was just the Uzumaki clan Kekkei Genkai."

"...Uzumaki have a Kekkei Genkai?? ...Really??"

Seeing Sasuke's total confusion, Naruto chuckled. "Haha, yep! Uchiha and Hyuga aren't the only ones—"

Suddenly, Sasuke watched as Naruto's entire demeanor shifted. Before he could even process the movement, Naruto was standing right beside him.

(When did he move?!)

When Sasuke turned to look at NAruto, he saw a deadly serious expression on Naruto's face as he stared off in a specific direction.

Following his lead, Sasuke looked over too.

Emerging into view were two tall silhouettes walking toward them—both wearing dark cloaks patterned with crimson clouds, topped with massive, veiled straw hats.

" Damn , Never thought that the Security will be so lax around the Jinchuriki "
