Chapter 81 - Registration Day

The Grand Academic Institute stood between worlds — a place where students from many realms gathered to learn how to face the unknown.

Ren Kai and Aria arrived together.

Both were fifteen now.

Aria stretched her arms and smiled. "New uniforms, new classes, new chaos."

Ren Kai only nodded softly.

At the registration hall, glowing crystals measured each student's potential. When Ren Kai placed his hand on the device, the crystal flickered, dimmed, then printed a result:

"Stable — Minimal Output — Safe."

The clerk stamped the form without question.

Aria peeked and laughed. "You're officially harmless."

Ren Kai smiled faintly.

They took their student badges and stepped outside into the courtyard.

A bell rang across the sky.

Then every screen in the academy turned red.

Emergency Mission Notice.

An Eldritch Horror Entity had appeared beyond dimensional boundaries — something the academy described as outside structure, outside narrative, outside classification. Faculty warnings scrolled rapidly:

DO NOT ENGAGE ALONE

TIER-0 ANOMALY

OBSERVERS FAILED

Students panicked. Teachers gathered. Portals began preparing.

Aria checked the roster list. Their names were both assigned to a response group.

She turned. "Looks like we're—"

Ren Kai was sitting on a stone bench, watching a leaf drift down in the wind.

He did not react to the alert.

He did not stand.

He did not speak.

Before any portal opened — the red alerts vanished.

Screens reset to blue.

A new message replaced the warning:

Mission Resolved — Threat No Longer Present

Silence filled the courtyard.

Faculty checked instruments. Nothing remained. No trace, no residue, no timeline disturbance.

Aria frowned. "Nobody even deployed…"

Ren Kai looked up slightly.

"The leaf landed," he said quietly.

And class began.
