"Do you know who did it?"
Kikyo didn't care to understand how Rogue knew; she just wanted to know if Rogue knew who the perpetrator of this attack was.
"I don't know. I just found out about The Hive attack myself, but I don't know the specifics."
"You all know a lot more than I do."
Rogue shrugged, she wasn't lying.
"How bad is the damage? Is it very serious?"
Uncharacteristically, Rogue said something akin to a caring remark.
The fact that Rogue, who rarely asked questions and never showed curiosity, would say such a thing surprised Kikyo, who raised an eyebrow.
"It was indeed very difficult, almost didn't make it, but now, at least it's under control."
After answering Rogue's question, Kikyo was about to continue, but noticed Rogue's eyes still on her, not speaking, which made Kikyo feel a bit bewildered.
After a moment of stunned, looking at Rogue's unmoving gaze, Kikyo finally realized.
"Johnny is injured, but not in mortal danger. You can rest assured."
"Mm..."
Rogue nodded honestly.
She really just wanted to ask about Johnny's condition.
And Kikyo, she just felt a bit speechless.
She had wondered why Rogue had changed her personality today, why she would care about The Hive's losses.
Turns out she wanted to ask about Johnny's condition.
"Listen, Rogue, I need your help. Help me find out who is targeting us. This cannot be left alone."
"This is a commission. You name your price."
Berry had already decided that no matter the cost, she had to find those bastards.
And Rogue, as Night City's strongest intelligence broker, was the most likely person to fulfill Berry's commission.
So, Kikyo disclosed some intelligence to Rogue.
Hoping she could find out who the real mastermind was.
"We'll take the commission, but I must tell you, this matter is not that simple."
Rogue glanced at Kikyo, her tone somewhat solemn.
"We don't have any existing intelligence. I've never even heard of those green solutions you mentioned."
"The only potentially relevant intelligence I have right now is that the number of missing persons cases in Watson and Westbrook Districts has increased significantly in the past two months. If you need it, I can send you the data now."
"But for other things, we'll need to send people to investigate, deploy mercenaries, and gather intelligence. This will take a lot of time, at least not something that can be completed in a day or two. I hope you're prepared."
"Alright, Rogue, go ahead and do it."
Hearing that Rogue also knew nothing about the green solution, Kikyo rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit dejected.
But she also knew that Rogue wasn't a Wish-Granting Machine; she couldn't expect to get information immediately upon arrival.
It seemed that Rogue's team could only investigate for now.
But waiting like this wasn't a solution either.
Who knew how long Afterlife would take to investigate these matters? Berry felt she should find other avenues... That evening, Berry was in The Hive's Basement.
The bar on the first floor had been barely cleaned up and, incidentally, sealed off by the NCPD, as a shooting had occurred there.
But Berry didn't mind; the bar wouldn't reopen for a while anyway.
Predictably, The Hive would enter a prolonged period of martial law.
Until they found the enemy and eliminated the ones who had targeted them.
Berry sighed deeply, leaning weakly against the back of her chair.
She had read the data Rogue sent.
The number of missing persons cases in Watson and Westbrook Districts recently was indeed quite striking.
However, perhaps because most of the missing were homeless people who were already without fixed residences, or some lower-class citizens, the news paid little attention to it.
And Berry, after reading through the missing persons' data, didn't derive any useful information.
The only thing she knew was that if these missing people were all captured and subjected to green solution experiments in places like the Motorcycle Gang's Basement or the Tyger Claws' abandoned building, then the enemy's power was absolutely unimaginable.
This once again confirmed Berry's conjecture.
Only corporations had the capability to do such a thing.
Corporation, corporation, corporation... Berry muttered the word, thinking about how to find these guys.
Night City is a metropolis with seven million people.
Such a place harbors far too much filth and corruption.
So much so that Berry didn't know where to start.
Corporation, corporation, corporation... Muttering the word, Berry suddenly paused.
Wait, she seemed to know who to go to for intelligence.
