Chapter 19 - The clash

Infinity system: shintoki of the Keturyugan Chapter 20: The clash, a naruto fanfic

Some of the returned members who escaped the prison told the leader of the faction about the presence of ninja who had some kind of ability to bolster their resolve against their enemies. They had already caused them immense losses, and it was thanks to them that they were able to escape.

They gave him a scroll, saying they would need it, and that if they agreed to their help, they could give their response to the Konoha shinobi in three days.

Since then, the time given had almost run out, and they would need to meet them soon.

Still, a part of him didn't want to believe in the help of those shinobi, but what choice did he have? He thought sincerely.

After all, among the mercenaries there were shinobi too, who had deserted their homes and were the main reason their army couldn't bring back order. Yet this was also an opportunity.

To counter shinobi, they needed other shinobi.

So ultimately, he met with them.

The one to show up was Tsume.

Seeing her raised several gazes at her form and allure, yet a sharp glare with a spark of killer intent was enough to straighten their minds immediately.

Everyone started to sweat profusely.

After some intense discussion, they came up with an agreement.

The day of the raid had come. The army of the mercenaries clashed with the resistance.

They were struggling.

"Where are these Konoha ninja? They promised, damn it."

Elsewhere.

"Okay, here is the plan.

Me and Shintoki will invade the enemy's castle, set it ablaze, and cause as much destruction as possible. This way, any force stationed behind will be lost, and if there are supplies, they will be destroyed."

From there, Tsume resumed the sentence. "You will go to assist the resistance with me.

I will handle the most troublesome one, that infamous Suijin. Just do your best. If you feel like it is proving too dangerous, you can retreat. We just need to cripple their force enough for them to understand never to mess with Konoha.

We will recuperate any important materials once the mercenary army is crushed. He will retreat.

What happens after that is none of our problem.

Then we will launch a decisive strike on the ninja who ambushed Dama-sensei and his client, or possibly they might come at us themselves."

Boom! Boom!

In the resistance.

Fire lit up the sky of the palace where the mercenaries lived.

Any mercenaries left to protect the area were pushed back.

A powerful wind blew against a wall that cracked and started to crumble, blasting the ceiling of the house.

Several guards were crushed by the debris falling down.

As for the maids, they were simply knocked out. Their fate was not something they needed to concern themselves with.

Back inside the village, it was chaos.

The mercenaries were now attacking anyone in sight. The resistance forces were simply not enough to contain them. At some point, many mercenaries almost broke through the defense set up by the resistance, if not for Himuta and Eimu's swift intervention taking them down.

The general population had been relocated to minimize losses, since the mercenaries' intent was to burn the village and not specifically seek out the people themselves.

The sound of fighting was everywhere—blades clashing with blades, metal cutting through flesh. The resistance forces stubbornly resisted.

On a rooftop away from the battlefield, the boss of the mercenaries gazed down at the fighting happening there, his expression cold.

The sight of his mercenaries dying didn't affect him in the slightest.

Suddenly, he saw someone charging right at him with a sword. The person's face was full of rage and cold resolve, having lost everything to these mercenaries. He didn't fear dying anymore.

He sneered and easily sidestepped the strike. With a kick movement, he decapitated the moron.

He was going to leave, having decided to finally join the battlefield, when a muscular man appeared. This one managed to resist for some time. If not for the resistance army fleeing like rats, he would have wiped them out a long time ago. Also, it wasn't him doing the hunting; he left the job to some of his underlings.

The now-captured leader of the resistance struggled but couldn't free himself. He glared at the enemy, the chief of the mercenaries, his eyes burning with fury.

But enough of that. He was about to sever the stupid chief's head when he was blindsided by a kick that sent him flying.

"Are you alright?" a voice said to the leader.

After regaining his footing, he looked at his rescuer. It was the same woman as that day.

Looking toward the fire in his resistance, he froze, his blood boiling.

How dare they do this to his castle.

Water needles formed from airborne puddles were raining down on the battlefield, taking the lives of both resistance fighters and mercenaries like worthless ants.

His face turned cold, and his eyes shrank to pinpoints.

He formed needles out of thin air and shot them toward Tsume.

"Earth Wall Jutsu."

A huge boulder instantly rose from the ground, stopping the massive barrage of water needles.

Elsewhere, Team 14 was encountering some trouble.

Tsume and Raizo's team were now on the move to leave the area.

Suddenly, needles started to form in thin air.

"The same trick again?"

Suiton: Ripple Wall.

A huge barrier of water appeared in the sky, repelling all the needles.

Tsume then told Shintoki to assist.

Tsume and the injured jōnin engaged the squad leader to create an opening for Shintoki to get everyone to safety.

They were followed by a crowd of bandits and several ninja whose strength was around chūnin level.

The ground split in half, and small stone spikes started to rise before Team 14's position, forcing them to split.

An explosion followed, causing dust to rise.

A massive hand appeared holding a spear and released an angry shout.

"DAMN YOU BRATS! YOU DARE KILL MY MEN!"
