Chapter 62 - 62: Rising Jaya

Sunlight spilled into Nami's eyes mixed with starlight, filling them with deep affection as she looked at Rolan.

Rolan turned his head and coughed awkwardly a few times, then said, "Someone's still watching over there, aren't they?" He pointed toward their ship.

Nami pouted and muttered, "Hmph, how annoying."

Rolan suppressed a smirk. Are people in the world of One Piece always so forward? he thought, grumbling under his breath.

After settling himself, Rolan said to Nami, "Let's go back to the ship first."

Nami's legs went weak, and she swayed. Without hesitation, Rolan reached out, lifted her up, and flew toward the ship. As he did, he slipped a senzu bean into her mouth.

"Nami, are you okay? Did you use too much energy just now?" he asked calmly.

Nami rubbed her head lightly while nestled in his arms and replied with a soft "Mm."

Rolan didn't notice the faint glint of slyness in her eyes.

Once they landed on the ship, Nami stepped down and muttered inwardly: Why didn't he hold me longer?

Since she saw the way Rolan looked at Kalifa, Nami's heart was gripped by a sudden urgency. She feared he might drift into another woman's arms. She silently resolved to speed up her own game and keep Rolan by her side. In her mind she thought, At worst… I might only accept Lina — if Robin also desires him, then fine too.

Rolan cleared his throat. "Since the experiment succeeded, it's time for the next move. Let's reassemble Sky Island first."

His gaze briefly scanned the crew, and all nodded in agreement.

Crocodile's eyes glinted with excitement. "Looks like it won't be long before we head to the New World." His face darkened. "I'm about to face that Whitebeard geezer once again, my revenge won't wait."

Enel laughed, "Yehahahaha, Four Emperors? All of you will be stepping stones for God!"

Rolan's lips curved ever so slightly. "Let's go to Jaya Island first."

Nami nodded and raised her hand, forming a patch of island‑cloud between the ship and the sea. She guided the ship to glide swiftly toward Jaya Island on that cloud.

When they entered the waters near Jaya, two men from a salvage crew shouted, "Salvage! Salvage!"

"Was the wreck just here?" one asked.

"Yes, Boss!" the other replied.

"Is Boss calling me?" said the first.

"Yes!"

"All the shipwreck belongs to our Personnel Pirate Group."

Rolan observed quietly. He knew those men still held onto old habits. Even though Gold City stood on Sky Island, their greedy instincts told them to salvage any floating wrecks — perhaps for gold or valuables.

Nami glanced at the scene and turned to Rolan, uncertain. He shook his head. "If I explained to every single person, I'd be worn out."

Without further words, Rolan rose high above Jaya Island, then activated his electromagnetic power to amplify his voice across the seas. "People of Jaya Island, hear me. I am Rolan, God of Sky Island and lord over half of this land. In two days' time, a Sky‑Breaking Sea Current will lift this island ten thousand meters into the sky. I am here to save you, so you have one day to prepare."

Through his powers he sensed chaos on the island. Panic spread. Fishermen pulled their boats ashore, families scrambled to send Den Den Mushi messages, many retreated into their homes.

Satisfied, Rolan returned to the ship. Enel bit into an apple and chuckled, "I say, why lift the island slowly? Why not just yank it straight up?"

Rolan shook his head with cool detachment. "We're not interested in land or soil. What we need are the people. Do you understand?"

The next afternoon, Rolan and Nami floated above Jaya Island.

"Ready," she said.

Rolan nodded. "Begin."

He unleashed his electromagnetic ability, slowly severing Jaya Island from the seabed. The island trembled, people below cried out in surprise.

Rolan lifted it upward at a measured pace. As it rose thirty meters, Nami's hand swept through the air and formed thick island‑cloud beneath its base. The cloud served as a floating platform. The island kept rising steadily, held aloft by Nami's cloud.

Midway, Nami thickened the cloud base and nodded at Rolan. "It's done."

He released his power slowly, and Jaya Island gently descended onto the cloud. Suspense gripped him for a moment — would the cloud hold the island's weight? But the cloud bore it firmly.

Rolan flew over to Nami immediately and popped a senzu bean into her mouth. "How are you feeling?" he asked curtly.

Nami shook her head, still pale. "Exhausted from generating that much cloud, but I'll be fine."

Rolan allowed a rare softness in his tone. "Good work. From now on, this will get easier."

He guided her back to the ship. Then with a wave of his hand, he directed the ship to settle next to the cloud beneath Jaya Island.

Jaya Island hovered silently, ready to be transported alongside Sky Island. Since there were still civilians aboard, Nami lifted the island upward at a slow, cautious pace. The ten‑thousand‑meter ascent took nearly two hours.

Just as Jaya Island neared Sky Island, Rolan appeared above Sky Island. He cleared his throat and announced strongly to all below: "There may be a light tremor shortly. Do not panic. I will explain everything soon."

He turned to the crew aboard the ship and said to Nami, "Now."

The two islands slowly drifted together like pieces of a puzzle, edges aligning. A rumble shook the ground as the islands merged. Time had worn their edges a bit, but the fit was nearly perfect. After the shaking stopped, Rolan rose into the sky and explained the entire plan. The people, listening in awe, all burst into cheers — "Amazing!"

Residents streamed out of their homes, rushing toward the coastline, curiosity and relief mingling on their faces.

Rolan directed the ship to head toward the island's old shrine. As soon as they landed there, a swirl of flame appeared and solidified into a young girl. She rushed forward and hugged Rolan tightly. Around them, cherry blossoms drifted and transformed into a vision of a mature woman.
