They arrived at the hotel to find it empty. Not that they expected anyone to be there. It was still surprising that in a city of more than a million people, it was hard to come across people.
They secured the main door and chose a suite on the tenth floor. The faded luxury of the hotel made them sigh at the impermanence of life. No one had expected such a thing to happen. Yet, here they were standing in the ruins of doomsday, trying to survive.
For the next hour, no one talked about doomsday. They secured rooms for everyone to have a bath. The hotel had tubs that everyone could bathe in, and Ember supplied the water. They cleaned the grime off their bodies, not worrying about anything.
