Chapter 29 - The Prophecy That Cannot Be Broken

After thinking it through, Lumine and Paimon had reached an answer.

Neuvillette: "Go on, tell us what you think."

Lumine: "Fontainians… aren't actually real humans. Every Fontainian was created by the former Hydro Archon, using pure water sprites as the foundation."

"Only Fontainians dissolve when they touch the Primordial Sea water. And once they dissolve, they turn back into pure water sprites. Navia once mentioned that when she was about to dissolve, she experienced a trial in her consciousness—everyone in that scene had already turned into pure water sprites."

"From this perspective, the Hydro Archon's sin was creating Fontainians. Creating life without permission angered Celestia. The Oratrice's guilty verdict for the Hydro Archon likely refers to the sin she bore for creating Fontainians."

[Venti: Wow, creating humans—that's impressive! As expected of Egeria, the Hydro Archon.]

Hydro Archon.][Zhongli: Water inherently ties to the authority of life. Holders of Hydro Visions often have healing abilities. So she managed to exploit that connection to create life.]

[Nahida: So the prophecy is basically Celestia's curse. Fortunately, those who dissolved didn't truly die—they simply lost their qualification to be human and returned to their original water-sprite form.]

[Navia: Sylph… Myles…]

[Neuvillette: The Hydro Archon bore the sin, yet the people of Fontaine are the ones putting her on trial.]

[Lyney: So we aren't actually human… that's why we dissolve?]

[The Knave: Now that is a remarkable revelation.]

Navia: "So the Hydro Archon's true sin… was creating us?"

Lyney: "We aren't real humans…?"

Lynette: "We just heard something incredible."

Neuvillette: "Yet here today, in this Opera House, the people of Fontaine attempt to judge their own creator. History truly is dramatic."

Lumine: "But I still think the third and fourth stone tablets were placed in the wrong order."

"The third tablet's image looks like Navia falling into the sea—which should come after the image of the Hydro Archon sinking. And in the last panel, everyone dissolves into the water except the Hydro Archon, who cries alone on the throne. Only then would the sins of Fontaine be cleansed."

Neuvillette: "Not bad reasoning. With what we currently know, your deduction is impressive."

"But the tablets contain more than just drawings—they also store hidden information through some kind of energy. When I first examined them in the ruins, one tablet was missing, so I could only partially decipher it."

"Now that we have all the tablets, I can attempt to read their messages again. If all goes well, the truth will soon be revealed."

Neuvillette then used Hydro power to read the stored information—and what he found shocked him.

[Neuvillette: Water can hold not only life, but also emotions and knowledge.]

[Ningguang: The Traveler's explanation isn't correct—the order of the third panel actually makes sense. In the final panel, the Hydro Archon sits slumped on the throne, while Fontaine has no humans left. The third panel still shows humans, so it cannot be the final scene.]

[Paimon: Ningguang is amazing—her analysis makes perfect sense!]

[Ningguang: I have done business since I was young. To build the empire I have today, reading information accurately has always been essential.]

[Zhongli: Ningguang certainly has a keen mind.]

[Hu Tao: What, and I don't?]

[Keqing: For you, the word is lively, not meticulous.]

Paimon anxiously asked: "So? What did you find?"

Neuvillette: "I believe this information shouldn't be shared only with you. The people of Fontaine have the right to know everything. Let me explain."

"The origin of the Fontainians and the sin of the Hydro Archon."

"Lumine's deductions are entirely correct."

"In the beginning, the former Hydro Archon sensed the longing of her followers—the pure water sprites—to live on land."

"Pure water sprites living in the sea admired humans. They were fascinated by the beauty and wonder of human life. Their wish was to become human themselves."

"But although water is tied to life, even as one of the Seven, the Hydro Archon did not possess the authority to create human life."

"Still, she found a way. By stealing the power of the Primordial Sea, she transformed pure water sprites into human form."

"She used their veins to hold the Primordial Sea's water inside them, creating imitation humans…"

"But once these Fontainians came into contact with the sea's original water again, that power inside them would break free—causing their bodies to dissolve and return to water-sprite form."

"But creating humans without Celestia's permission was a crime."

"And so, the people of Fontaine have always carried the original sin of stealing the Primordial Sea."

"That… is the origin of the Fontainians."

The audience was stunned.

"I'm actually a water sprite turned into a human…?"

"This is too much information. I think I'll just forget everything the Chief Justice said…"

[Paimon: Hahahaha, this person is hilarious!]

[Ningguang: For an ordinary person, Neuvillette's words are indeed hard to accept.]

[Keqing: If someone told me one day that I wasn't human, I'd probably react the same.]

[Hu Tao: Just like when you found out Zhongli was the Geo Archon, right?]

[Keqing: … Yes. Something like that.]

[Lyney: Even as a Vision holder, hearing this shakes me as well.]

"If that's the case, how can we sentence the Hydro Archon to death? She's the one who created us!"

Paimon: "These revelations really are overwhelming. But they do explain a lot."

Yet Neuvillette's next words shocked everyone even more.

"Lumine, your interpretation of the third tablet is actually incorrect. Its order wasn't reversed."

"Look closely: the humans in the water on the third tablet still have normal human bodies—they aren't water sprites."

"This means they haven't dissolved. In other words, the water shown there is not Primordial Sea water."

"This is the Nation of Justice. In Fontaine, water symbolizes justice and judgment. So the water in that scene represents a trial."

"Connecting this with Navia's experience—in her consciousness, she found herself surrounded and judged."

"Therefore, the third tablet actually depicts the people convening a trial against the Hydro Archon."

"In other words… it is exactly what is happening here today."

His words struck the Opera House like a thunderclap, shaking every listener to the core.
