Chapter 5 - Navia Falls into the Water (Revised)

The Knave: "Regarding Mr. Melus and Mr. Silver, I deeply regret what happened. If possible, I wish my people could have arrived sooner to prevent all of this."

Navia shook her head: "Please don't say that. No one was obligated to do anything. You and your subordinates already did everything you could. Just as Paimon said, Melus and Silver didn't sacrifice themselves for any single person. They weren't a price—they simply chose to become heroes."

The Knave: "Indeed. Please accept my condolences, Lady Navia."

"I must return to the House now. There are still matters to attend to, and the children need looking after."

The Knave turned and took two steps, then stopped: "Oh, and Traveler, Paimon, there's one more thing."

Paimon spread her hands: "And here I thought you'd say 'see me off' and then we'd chat about something."

The Knave smiled faintly: "I generally only employ such clever conversational techniques when the situation calls for it."

[Ganyu: Paimon spreading her hands like that is so adorable.]

[Keqing: Paimon went to Fontaine. Will she come to Liyue too?]

[Arataki Itto: A flying little lavender melon? Definitely cute!]

[Paimon: Who are you calling a lavender melon! (angry)]

The Knave looked at Lumine: "You and I both know something may be wrong with the Primordial Sea. Last time it was the Fortress of Meropide's sea gate. This time it's the water level at Poisson."

Lumine: "So the time for cooperation has come?"

The Knave nodded: "Precisely. I want to share with you the latest intelligence from the House of the Hearth's information network."

"During recent investigations, some of the children reported discovering an ancient ruin near Poisson. The ruin is extremely old and holds investigative value in many respects."

"Its contents may be related to the prophesied disaster. With the situation so urgent, any related intelligence is invaluable."

"Originally, my people came to explore the ruin. We never expected such a disaster would occur. For now, we are prioritizing rescue work."

Navia: "I see. Thank you for your assistance."

The Knave continued speaking to Lumine: "I had originally planned to bring the children with me. Unfortunately, Lyney and Lynette are both occupied helping the residents of Poisson. Lyney said that outside of the House of the Hearth, the person they trust most is you. As such, I would like to entrust this task to you."

[Ningguang: A person of integrity is judged by their actions, not their heart. Regardless of whatever ulterior motives the Fatui may have in Fontaine, it is undeniable that the Knave's actions here have saved many lives.]

[Zhongli: By all practical measures, Miss Knave is undoubtedly a person worthy of respect.]

[Diluc: I wholeheartedly agree with this Liyue resident's observation.]

[Kaeya: The compilation is titled "Saddest Famous Scenes." Could the outcome be that both Navia and the Knave end up sacrificing themselves?]

[Ningguang: The video's title is "The Sinner's Finale." So far, the true sinner has yet to appear. I have not seen anyone who could be called guilty.]

[Navia: As a native of Fontaine, I sincerely hope the disaster does not continue.]

[Charlotte: Same here.]

Navia: "I want to go too."

Paimon waved her hands repeatedly: "No, no, no. Navia's feeling terrible right now, isn't she? She needs to rest."

Navia: "Of course I'm sad, but I can't just go back and find a place to sit and stare blankly. In the face of disaster, despair serves no purpose. As the successor of the Spina di Rosula, I must do what is worthy of my father's expectations."

"And besides, for my own sake as well, I need to do something to take my mind off things... That way I won't keep thinking about Melus and Silver."

...

Following the map, Lumine and Navia entered the ruin.

The interior of the ruin was already half-submerged by seawater.

Paimon: "There's Primordial Seawater contamination here too?"

Navia nodded: "Mm. And it's quite severe. A Fontainian would probably dissolve the moment they fell in."

Paimon looked at Navia with concern: "Navia, maybe you should retreat to the outside first! There's Primordial Seawater here. Staying here is too dangerous for you."

Navia glanced at the way out: "But the way back also has Primordial Seawater. Staying here isn't safe either. The water level could rise at any time. Let's explore together. The exit might be right ahead."

Paimon, resigned: "Then that's all we can do for now. Navia, you must be careful!"

Navia nodded.

[Jean: This place is extremely dangerous. I fear something may go wrong.]

[Ningguang: Indeed. Fontainians dissolve in Primordial Seawater, yet this place is filled with it.]

[Lumine: I'm here. Nothing unexpected will happen.]

[Paimon: That's right. I, little Paimon, can fly. And Lumine isn't Fontainian, so she'll be fine.]

[Zhongli: Let us hope so.]

[Arataki Itto: Why is everyone so gloomy? If there's hardship, just smash through it!]

In the footage, the three carefully navigated through the ruin, venturing deeper and deeper. When they reached the middle of a certain bridge, the ground beneath their feet suddenly began to crack, piece by piece. Below the bridge was seawater—dangerous seawater.

Navia reacted instantly, warning Lumine and Paimon: "This bridge is unstable! Run! Hurry!"

The three sprinted toward the other side of the bridge together. The stone bridge beneath them cracked apart block by block, the pace of collapse accelerating. Lumine, being faster, reached the other side first. She turned around—and saw Navia already falling toward the sea.

"Navia!"

Lumine immediately turned and leaped off the broken bridge, reaching out to grasp Navia's hand. The two hands drew closer and closer, but still failed to meet.

The screen went black.

[Charlotte: Navia... Navia fell into the seawater? Oh god, I can't bear to watch. (Furina covered her eyes)]

[Neuvillette: The Traveler should have the ability to stop this. The editor of this compilation may be keeping us in suspense.]

[Zhongli: The weight of stone brings reassurance. Lady Navia is a holder of a Geo Vision. She will be fine. The Geo Archon will watch over her.]

[Hu Tao: As expected of Zhongli. He knows everything.]

The screen shifted from black to white. The scene had returned to Poisson.

Melus: "My lady, what are you doing out here all alone? If I hadn't come to fetch you, were you planning to stand here by yourself until nightfall?"

Silver: "Perhaps the young lady simply wanted some time alone."

Navia looked bewildered: "Did I fall asleep here?"

Melus: "It would certainly appear so."

[Navia: Melus and Silver! Thank goodness, they're not dead. They're not dead!]

[Ningguang: So these two are Melus and Silver. One can feel their affection for you just from their words.]

[Keqing: Have any of you noticed? The texture of the image has changed. It's as if... they are all submerged in water.]

[Ganyu: The visual texture is indeed different, but it isn't black-and-white. Is this a memory, or something that happened earlier? The scenes in the compilation may not follow chronological order.]

[Neuvillette: They are indeed in water. As for why they haven't dissolved, I am also unsure.]
