"So, the beginning of your universe's destruction was a group of Symbiotes landing in the Malaysian region, possessing many heroes, and causing you to suffer repeated defeats?"
"And during the final battle, when defeat was imminent, you were rescued by members of the Multiverse Spider-Alliance, and then came to our universe to help us fight against the coming catastrophe?"
After listening to Gwen's account of the apocalyptic war, Luke's expression turned extremely strange.
He had indeed heard of the Symbiote Universe, but the one in his memory was nowhere near this ferocious.
It was hard to believe that the universe where Ghost-Spider Gwen lived could be wiped out by a Symbiote army.
Where was Asgard? Where was Ghost Rider? And where was Kamar-Taj?
"Are you sure it was only Symbiotes that invaded your universe?"
Gwen nodded. "Aren't Symbiotes terrifying enough?"
"They have incredibly powerful reproduction abilities and can form a massive army in a very short time!"
"On top of that, their species spans an entire planet. Once they reach Earth, human forces would collapse instantly!"
Seeing the doubt on Luke's face, Gwen spoke seriously, "At the beginning, when the Symbiotes first descended, we thought the same as you."
"We believed they were just another group of ordinary invaders."
"But by the time we realized we were wrong, it was already too late."
"That's not right."
Luke shook his head. "What about Knull, the Symbiote God? Didn't you encounter him?"
Knull, the Symbiote God, also known as the King in Black, is the creator of the Symbiote race.
He was one of the oldest life forms in the universe before the existence of light, the master of the darkness.
However, after the Celestials appeared, Knull was severely wounded and forced to flee.
In order to reclaim the dark universe, he forged All-Black the Necrosword and created the Symbiote race.
According to Gwen, the Symbiotes had invaded Earth in an organized and coordinated manner, something they clearly could not achieve on their own.
Not just in terms of intelligence, but also strength. Even with overwhelming numbers, Symbiotes should not be able to defeat an Earth filled with endless extraordinary individuals.
Unless, in that universe, the Symbiotes were the protagonists.
But that was impossible as well. The Symbiotes Gwen described were clearly villains.
"Knull, the Symbiote God?"
Gwen froze for a moment, trying hard to recall. "Are you talking about the one riding a black Symbiote dragon and wielding a sharp sword?"
"I thought he was just a powerful monster. Although he seemed to hold a high position among the Symbiotes, he didn't appear to be their mastermind."
Hmm?!
Luke was slightly surprised.
"Why?"
Recalling the incident, Gwen said, "That guy once said: The great God of Annihilation pities all living beings, and thus grants all things the grace of stepping into eternal annihilation."
Annihilation?
One of the four abstract entities?
Luke's expression finally turned serious.
If it were only Knull, the Symbiote God, it wouldn't matter too much.
But now it seemed that Knull was merely a pawn of Annihilation.
The one who truly destroyed Gwen's universe was Annihilation, whose identity remained unknown!
"Have you ever seen this so-called God of Annihilation?"
Gwen hesitated. "Maybe… I have?"
"After I left that universe, when I reviewed it at the Spider-Alliance headquarters, I saw Knull, after wiping out all life on Earth, perform some kind of ritual to summon a grotesque humanoid existence formed from condensed darkness."
"Thinking about it now, that should have been the so-called Annihilation!"
Gwen's face turned pale. That entity was the size of a galaxy, even larger than the Sun!
Could such a being really be resisted by them?
Luke frowned deeply. Based on Gwen's description alone, it was impossible to determine Annihilation's true nature.
But one thing was certain: Annihilation would not personally participate in the destruction of a world.
Only after a world had been completely annihilated could Knull use some method to summon Annihilation's descent.
That made sense. According to the Ancient One, although there was no overt hostility between the four abstract entities and beings like the god of fear, they inevitably restrained and balanced each other.
Otherwise, this infinite Multiverse would never have endured until now.
The cake was only so big. If one took a larger share, the others would inevitably get less.
So the question was, who got the biggest share?
Therefore, the most likely explanation was that these beings had reached some kind of agreement.
At the very least, their true forms could not act freely.
They could only accomplish their goals through proxies, like the Symbiotes.
Of course, this was only speculation.
The truth would have to wait until more information was gathered.
Peter Parker weakly raised his hand. "Um… what is Annihilation? What is Knull? And Symbiotes… I don't know any of that!"
As a complete rookie, Peter hadn't even begun his career as a hero, yet he was already facing a world-ending crisis. The pressure was overwhelming.
In games, you're supposed to level up before fighting the boss. How did he just enter the beginner zone and get told to fight a max-level boss?
Was that even reasonable?
At the very least, let him leave the beginner zone first!
Gwen pulled back her sleeve, revealing the bracelet on her wrist. She pressed a few buttons and aimed it forward.
A flickering projection formed, showing a battlefield overrun by Symbiotes.
One grotesque Symbiote after another rampaged through the city, extending tentacles, forming blades, or transforming into spider-like shapes as they slaughtered civilians.
Peter Parker clenched his fists. He watched as a red Symbiote kicked away someone who looked like Harry Osborn, then tore off his head and swallowed it whole.
Blood soaked the streets. Countless headless corpses lay scattered everywhere, while the Symbiotes cackled madly.
"Kill all living beings! Victory belongs to Annihilation!"
"Death is not your misfortune. In this world, living is the true suffering!"
"Rejoice! Be grateful! Annihilation grants equality to all!"
The Symbiotes shouted about annihilation and destruction as they slaughtered every living creature!
Even a passing dog had its head ripped off by their claws.
"Oh, shit! Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey! Tastes like death!"
"Huh? Is it really that bad? Let me try—ugh! Kill these stupid dogs!"
Luke spotted Thor. He looked slightly different from the Thor of this world, but his outfit was largely the same.
Although Thor could send several Symbiotes flying with a single swing of his hammer, he was quickly overwhelmed by even more of them.
Then, as a massive Symbiote Hulk charged into the pile of bodies...
Not long after, Thor was assimilated by the Symbiotes and became one of them.
Under normal circumstances, Symbiote possession wasn't impossible to resist.
As long as one's will was strong enough, it could suppress the Symbiote's primal instincts.
But here, even Thor's will was quickly assimilated by the Symbiotes.
"Interesting."
Luke's expression shifted slightly after watching the scenes Gwen had shown him.
He confirmed one thing.
The overall strength of Gwen's universe was relatively low. He hadn't seen any mages, nor any large-scale destructive weapons.
There were only a handful of superpowered individuals fighting against the Symbiotes.
To confirm his suspicion, Luke asked Gwen about the specifics of her universe.
"Does your universe have Mutants?"
"No."
"What about Inhumans?"
"We don't have those either."
"Then you must at least have Kamar-Taj?"
"We really don't."
"Ghost Rider? Captain Marvel? Doctor Doom?"
"Yes, yes! Captain Marvel appeared in the final battle, but she was eventually defeated by Knull."
"As for the others… I've never heard of them."
Just as expected.
Luke grew more certain of his conclusion.
Gwen's universe was still in an early stage of its timeline.
In other words, it was during the initial formation of the Avengers.
There were only a few superheroes.
And even the Hulk lacked the power to resist the Symbiotes.
That led to the rapid collapse of her world.
Luke immediately felt relieved.
Seeing this, Gwen asked in confusion, "What's wrong? You look like… you're not worried about the Symbiotes at all."
Luke nodded. "Our universe is a bit different from yours."
"So you don't need to worry about the Symbiote army. With their level of strength, even as invaders, they wouldn't rank very high."
