Chapter 2 - My wife's calling

BARAC'S POV:

I looked around as I stepped out of the room. I'd locked myself in to observe if the future was really going to play out.

I followed behind one of the maids as she rushed past me. It must've happened already. Father had collapsed from the sudden news of Bitcoin tanking due to the sell-off.

I looked at Sister as she stepped out of his room. She stared at me, sniffling, tears on her face.

"You should've called me." I stretched my hand towards her head.

"To do what?" she replied in a harsh tone, hitting my hand away.

"What can you even do apart from locking yourself in, doing meaningless—"

"He's going to be okay." I smiled and placed my hand on her shoulder.

"Is he up?"

"Y–Yes." she stuttered after staring silently for a second.

"You should come in." I nodded and reached for the doorknob.

"I need you."

She looked at me as I opened the door and followed behind me as I entered.

"B–Barac..." Father struggled to sit upright as I walked in.

"You should rest, Father." I waved at him, rushing to his side.

"I'm here."

"I..." He paused, lowering his head.

"I can't..."

"I'm saying you should because you can." I sat on the chair beside him.

"Have a seat, El." I looked at her.

They both stared at me for a while in confusion. Elena walked to the other chair and sat down.

"It's..." Father spoke, looking at us.

"It's really bad. There was no sign of such a move. It's—"

"How much did we lose?" Elena asked softly.

"Two..." Father paused, looking at me.

"Two hundred thousand?" Elena asked. "That's a lot of—"

"No." Father interrupted, shaking his head. "It's—"

"You'll be surprised, Sister." I interrupted, looking at Elena.

"And... Father, you've been quite the miser."

"Are you seriously trying to make a joke right now?" Elena snapped, standing up.

"What do you even—"

"Two hundred million dollars." I interjected, leaning forward.

She gasped and looked at Father immediately.

"Is... is that..."

"Y–Yes." Father nodded.

"It'll be a million now, but I can't even... access the—"

"I changed the password." I cut in.

"I have access to the wallet."

"H–How?" Father asked in a shaky voice.

I smiled and stood up.

He'd given me access to all his accounts and mails as his heir in my past life.

"Wait." He gasped.

"We should do something about—"

"The money's safe." I shook my head.

They gasped, Father springing up to me immediately.

"You... you're not playing about..." He sniffled, looking at my face.

Elena walked closer and held him.

"How did you secure it?" she muttered, breathing heavily.

I stared at them for a second before replying.

"I converted all the Bitcoin we had yesterday."

"That's..." Father fell to his knees.

"I..."

"I have a request, Father."

They looked at each other before looking at me.

"W–What do you want?" Father asked.

"Don't make any stupid requests." Elena glared at me.

"I discovered that things would become like this." I placed my hand on my chest.

Not really, but it was good to start with.

"I know I've not been the best son," I paused, "or the best brother." I looked at Elena.

"Not even by a long shot."

Father stood up and placed his hand on my shoulder.

"You just saved us." He looked at Elena. He sniffled, lowering his head.

"I didn't... I didn't know what to..."

"Father..." Elena patted his back and looked at me.

"T–Thank you," she muttered, turning her face away.

"Give me two weeks, Father." I grabbed his hand. He looked at me, confused.

"What do you..." He paused, watching me take my phone out.

"Ten million." I showed them my screen. "This should be enough to cover all the debtors that'll come thinking we've lost all our money."

"Debtors?" Elena looked at Father, surprised. "Ten million?"

Father took the phone and looked at me.

"What about the money in the wallet?"

"Two weeks." I exhaled.

"And I'll turn that into over a billion."

Their eyes widened and they looked at each other.

"I know I don't deserve the trust..." My eyes trailed from Elena to Father.

"But I hope you'll—"

"You won't lose everything?" Elena interrupted. "You promise that?"

Father stared at her for a second before looking at me.

"How will you even do that?"

I stared at Elena; our eyes met.

Was she saying to give me a chance? It was so unexpected.

"I didn't even think we had two million." She turned her face away.

"And I'm only asking because you've not run away with the money."

I laughed softly and looked at Father.

"I promise."

I could even exceed ten billion, but I didn't say this. It was best to surpass their expectations than not meet them.

Father exhaled and looked at Elena.

"I was planning to give it to both of you as inheritance."

She huffed and withdrew her hand from him.

"You've really been a miser."

He laughed softly and looked at me.

"Ten million is more than enough to sort the people that'll come."

"Do not let them know that we didn't lose," I said in a serious tone.

"Give them the chance to show you their real selves."

Elena looked at me and laughed softly.

"I should pay the people that gave you the beating."

"Transfer six million to my account." Father exhaled.

"I'll trust you with the wallet."

I smiled and bowed.

"I won't let you down, Father."

"Give her two million." He looked at Elena. She gasped, eyes widening.

"I'm sorry for everything, my princess."

"Y–You don't have to be, Father." She stuttered, jumping to hug him.

"Three million will sort the people out." He turned to me.

"We'll have enough even if..." He paused. "I'm counting on you, son."

"I'll send you the account, Bro..." Elena chuckled.

Bro, huh?

I smiled, looking at them. The smiles on their faces warmed my heart—enough that I'd hold myself back from shedding tears.

They looked at me as my phone rang. I looked at the number and smiled.

A number I'd never forget since I really hated it in my past life—Agnes Kushner's.

"I'll head out for a while." I looked at them.

"Is there a problem?" Father asked, brow raised.

"My wife's calling."

"What?"
