We enter the guild, and the young lady who was already standing here a month ago. I look at the quest board, where 10 quests are hanging, all of them D-rank or higher. Because of that, there are hardly any low-rank adventurers here in the guild, but it is generally relatively empty. I think D-rank quests should be fine.
I explain my idea to them, that each of them will get a quest tailored specifically to her and must complete it, and that we will start with Sür, then Mori, and lastly Lui, since she is the one with the least success so far. Because of that, it is clear that she will go last. The girls nod in agreement.
Meanwhile, I take the quest for Sür. We go to the lady and accept the quest, then leave the guild and go through the side alley again, since the streets are completely filled with humans and beastmen. And even though we have been here for over a month, I love this sight of peace.
We arrive on the other side of the alley and go into the forest where we already defeated the rabbits. We arrive in the forest, and it becomes darker again because the forest is very dense. In the quest, it was said to kill an orc, which is a D-rank monster, if I remember correctly.
We go deeper into the forest. We hear a loud scream from the depths of the forest that sounds like that of a child. We immediately run toward it and see the orc standing in front of us, the one we are supposed to defeat according to the quest.
I run toward the female child and immediately heal her wounds, since she is covered in scratches everywhere and is even bleeding.
"Everything okay, little one?" I ask the little girl.
She cries and nods while sobbing. Her tears fall onto clothes that are already soaked, while Sür pulls out her bow. Mori and Lui come over to me. They look at the girl who is sitting on the ground crying. I look at them with a smile, while Sür fights the orc in the background.
She jumps up and fires three arrows that hit the orc directly, but he is only slightly injured. The orc looks at Sür as if it had barely tickled him. Only now do I realize that it was not so good that I always did everything for them. By now, the little girl is only looking at me while sobbing.
Sür jumps and dodges an attack from the orc. Her heart starts racing from fear and worry that she might lose. I watch her closely and analyze all her movements, which are not perfect, but acceptable.
Sür lands and fires three arrows twice in a row. The total of six arrows hit the orc in the head and arm. The helmet on the orc's head gets dents, but his head itself is unharmed. I notice that Sür is very insecure with her shots when she truly intends to kill her opponent.
Sür takes a short breath, and her heart calms down. The mana around her begins to condense. The mana forms into an arrow made of pure mana. She draws the bow with the mana and fires it. The orc tries to dodge, but after dodging, the arrow changes its direction and pierces straight through his entire body.
I clap, and the little girl also starts clapping, while Sür sits on the ground and breathes deeply. I walk over to Sür and smile gently as she puts her bow on her back.
"Good job, Sür. With that, your task is completed. Let's bring the girl back to the guild and take the next quest," I say calmly.
My cloak flutters in the wind as I gather everyone around me in a circle. I have not tested this power yet, hopefully it works. I snap my fingers, and a violet glow appears around us, shining up from the ground like rays of sunlight.
We disappear from the spot and appear in a dimension that can travel between different places. Shortly after, we appear in a violet light in front of the guild, and everyone gets startled. The girls look at me in confusion.
"What was that, Cro?" Mori asks me with a frightened voice."Oh, that magic? I learned it two weeks ago. It's teleportation," I say unusually calmly.
I giggle and then walk toward the guild door while everyone around us is still staring. The girls do not even ask and simply follow behind me. The little girl looks at me with shining eyes.
The guild door suddenly opens, and a man comes out. He bumps into me, falls down, and looks at me angrily, while I simply walk past him. He stands up and brushes the dirt off himself. The bald man looks away from me and then just leaves.
We enter the guild, and the little girl sits down on a bench that I point to. She waves at us as a goodbye, and we simply walk over to the young lady.
"You come here quite often. By the way, my name is Sila," she says with a warm and friendly voice.
I nod and hand her the orc's corpse from my dimensional storage. Sila just giggles and takes the orc's body with a smile while stamping the quest as completed.
We go to the quest board while I look through the available quests. After a short while, I see a quest that says, "Kill a Blacksnake." A Blacksnake is a C-rank monster. But this time, we unfortunately have not ranked up yet, so a C-rank quest could be quite difficult for Mori. Still, I trust her, because with a katana, she is basically the natural enemy of this monster.
We go to Sila. I place the quest sheet on the counter again, and she immediately approves it with another stamp, one showing a shield labeled "Processing," and another stamp showing it is completed. I take the quest sheet back.
We go back out through the guild door. Outside, there are still many people, but since the Blacksnake is in the forest area anyway, deeper inside, I once again stand in the middle of the girls. The violet light appears again. We teleport to the forest where we defeated the kill rabbits a month ago.
We land at the spot where we ate before and already hear monsters, but not the Blacksnake, which is completely covered in black. We go deeper into the forest. After a few minutes, we hear the sound of the snake, a hiss that is impossible to ignore, threatening and powerful.
We run toward the hissing, with Mori in the lead, since she is the one who is supposed to kill this snake. We arrive, and Mori immediately jumps toward the completely black-covered Blacksnake. The Blacksnake easily dodges Mori's precise slash.
I sit down on a fallen tree trunk. Sür and Lui do the same and watch closely as Mori swings at empty air because the snake was able to dodge. The snake focuses on Mori and sprays a poisonous breath.
I create a barrier around myself and the other two. Mori cuts through the poisonous breath so that it cannot reach her. I watch closely, since I myself used to fight with a katana in the beginning.
Mori starts sweating and wipes the sweat away while moving past the snake with incredible yet traceable movements, inflicting small scratches, because the snake simply moved slightly to the left while Mori attacked from the right.
The snake lets out a loud, ear-piercing scream. We all cover our ears, and Mori does the same so her eardrums do not burst. We stand normally again, but the snake has already burrowed into the ground while we were distracted by the sound.
The snake moves underground, and only the sound of the earth being churned can be heard. Mori closes her eyes and relies entirely on her hearing, while I watch closely to see what happens next.
The snake suddenly emerges. It appears directly beneath Mori, but she barely manages to dodge with her eyes still closed. The snake now stands directly in front of Mori, just like at the beginning of the fight.
The other two and I continue watching closely, as the fight is very evenly matched in terms of strength. Mori grips her katana with both hands and gathers air around the blade. It turns into a wind blade.
The snake stores poison in its mouth, preparing to inject a full dose. Mori disappears in motion, though she can still be faintly seen running along her path. It surprises me how fast she is. In just one month, that is truly incredible.
The snake cannot dodge. Mori comes to a stop behind it. Massive amounts of blood start spraying from the snake, and two seconds later, its entire body is sliced apart.
I walk over to Mori while clapping, as she jumps up and down in joy. The other two look at her, and Sür notices that Mori has been training even harder since the tournament the day before yesterday.
However, Lui has also trained intensely, maybe even more than Mori and Sür combined. I personally coached her during that time. She destroyed five straw dummies at once with five precise thrusts. That was when I realized that she was growing more than the other two.
But back to the present, where Mori calms down and catches her breath. A C-rank quest should be enough for Lui, or maybe even a B-rank. I rack my brain while the three girls gather around me.
I am most likely supposed to teleport us, so I do. The violet light appears again, and we appear in front of the guild in another flash of violet light. We waste no time and go straight into the guild.
From the entrance, I create the dimensional storage directly above the table for the quest turn-in. The quest sheet also falls out, and Sila stamps it immediately. We go to the quest board and look for a suitable quest, while Sila updates our guild cards.
The "D" floating above all four cards shatters like glass and reforms into a "C." Because of that, we can now even take B-rank quests, and so I decide that Lui will take on a B-rank quest.
