3rd Pov
"Please come in." said a manly voice from inside of the room.
Entering the room, the duo was met by a man with bronze skin, black hair, and white eyes which made the man's appearance a bit unnerving.
The man smiled widely upon seeing Yuna.
"Well well well, if it isn't the famous Second Commander of Elshire's army."
Yuna giggled hearing her title being mentioned. It felt good to be praised Infront her child.
"No need to call your old comrade like that. It's nice to see you again, Oberon."
'So his name is Oberon.' Claude thought while looking at the man in front of him, being a little unsettled by the man's eyes.
Oberon's eyes turned from Yuna to Claude and he watched him closely since he had come with Yuna.
"And who is this young fella? A prodigy you've come across randomly?"
"No, he's my son."
"Nice to meet you sir, I'm Claudius Indrukal." Claude introduced himself.
"Your child I se-wait what!?" Oberon yelled in shock.
"Have you gone deaf after all these years Oberon? If I knew I would have visited you sooner." She said with a sad tone whilst cleaning a fake tear from her eye.
Oberon deadpanned at Yuna's gesture, but ignored it and asked what was on his mind.
"When did you even get married?"
"Marriage? You think someone is able to match up to my strength and beauty?"
"It seems you're still a narcissist, but let's forget about that. If you're not married then how?"
"It was a one-night stand."
Claude couldn't help but respect her in his mind, the way she said that nonchalantly was really admirable.
"You got pregnant from a f*cking one-night stand?" Cursed Oberon which earned him a glare from Yuna as she covered Claude's ears with her hands.
"There's a child here mind your language dipshit."
'But you also Cursed.' Was what Claude and Oberon wanted to say but refrained themselves from saying it.
Oberon sighed and rubbed the bridge between his eyes.
"Forget it I won't dwell on the matter. Tell me the reason for today's visit."
"Can't I just visit my friend because I want to?"
"While that is indeed how you behave normally and do what you want, you also don't visit people without getting something from them. So the answer is no."
"Hey!!" Yuna protested, not liking the way that Oberon talked about her in front of her son.
"The way you say it makes me look like a bully."
'But you are one' Oberon thought to himself while shaking his head.
"Anyway, we came here to take a test and see if you can tell us about Claudius's ability."
"Hmm alright, it won't take that much of my time. Do you know anything about his ability yourself?"
"Nope. He doesn't have a tattoo on his body."
"Ah, I see what's going on. You think that he hasn't awakened his ability because he's not fully human. But for this, there was no reason to come here as you probably knew what his father's race was right?"
"Haha about that..." Yuna laughed awkwardly and trailed off.
Oberon looked at Yuna with a blank face, getting tired of her mindless actions.
"Don't tell me you slept with someone without even knowing anything about them."
"Hehe sorry." Yuna said while sticking her tongue out in a silly matter, making Oberon face palm at ridiculousness of the situation.
"Haa forget it." He then looked at Claude and gestured for him by his hand to come close.
"Come here, young man."
Claude looked at Yuna and she nodded in approval, so he walked closer to Oberon.
As Claude reached in front of Oberon, Oberon gently put his index finger on Claude's forehead and closed his eyes.
A few seconds passed by silently when suddenly Oberon opened his eyes from shock and looked at Claude in astonishment.
"How!?"
"How what?" The mother-son duo said in sync, confused and curious by what had caused Oberon to have such a reaction.
"Not only is he a halfling, he also already has an ability."
"What!? How is that possible? I didn't see a mark on his body."
Yuna said as she observed her son once more due to Oberon's statement.
"From what I found out with my ability, young Claudius's tattoo is colorless. That's why it isn't visible to the naked eye. I haven't heard about anything similar to this. He's one of a kind."
"So what's his ability, and what's his element?"
"Let's first start with his ability which is connected to affinity. It lets him copy the abilities of other people and use them for himself. It's similar to a mirror. The thing that makes his ability more ridiculous is that he doesn't have an affinity towards any element, instead his ability also lets him use the element of the person he has copied their ability."
"Wait you're telling me that he can possibly control all the elements besides copying other people's abilities?"
If he could do so, then that meant danger. Not for her or others, but for her son. If this information was found by others, he wouldn't be having a relaxed and comfortable life.
"Yes and no, because as good as his ability sounds, it does apparently have several restrictions. First of all, to copy someone's ability he needs to touch their mark for at least 10 seconds. Next is that the number of abilities he can copy isn't unlimited. How it works is that he has three empty slots that can store abilities in them. If the slots are full, he needs to release an ability he copied so he can copy a new one."
"What happens to the ability that he releases?"
"Obviously he loses it. either he has to copy it again or forget about it. Also, it seems that he can't use the abilities at the same time and can use one of them actively, if he uses more than one ability there is the possibility of receiving backlashes from it. Furthermore, changing abilities takes time so he can't change abilities in succession. "
"Even with all of those limits, it's still a rare ability. As expected of my son." Yuna said the last part proudly "What about his lineage?"
Oberon looked at Claude "Claudius You're a Dragon. To be precise a half-blood dragon."
"I'm sorry, a what did you say?" Yuna said in awe.
"A dragon. Yeah, I'm shocked too. How did you even manage to charm one of those people to sleep with you?"
"Hey, what do you mean by that?" Yuna asked as she frowned hearing Oberon's question. She was sure that no one would resist her charms.
"Nothing. Anyway back to what we were doing, as we both know, dragon tribe's passive ability, similar to any tribe is transformation. By growing older and having control of their bodies, they can partially change parts of their body to look similar to a dragon."
"At his age and for a few years I think the most he could do is the basic level of their transformation that makes their body covered in transparent scales that defends their body."
"Can we test his ability now?" Yuna asked Oberon.
"Sure he can copy my ability." Oberon then took off his coat and showed his forearm to Claude.
"When I checked your ability I also unlocked your ability for you so it is easier for you to use it. Just do as I say. As you can see, my tattoo is on my forearm, you just need to put your hand on it for 10 seconds and close your eyes. When the time is up you should see something like a bright light. Touch that light in your mind and tada, you successfully copied an ability."
Claude put his hands on the mark that was on Oberon's forearm, a yellow mark in the shape of an eye with a star in the middle of it.
As he did and closed his eyes, seconds began to pass and he didn't feel anything or see anything other than darkness, but then it happened.
Just as Oberon had said, he could see a shining yellow light in the shape of a sphere appearing in the endless darkness.
He moved his hand forward and closer to the light and grabbed it with his hand.
Upon touching the sphere, three boxes in front of Claude and he unconsciously put the yellowish sphere in one of the boxes.
The moment he did, he felt a jolt of energy course through his body and move towards his face, making him feel something appear on his face.
As he opened his eyes and looked at the wide and big window of the office, he could see his own reflection.
His eyes grew wide as he saw a mark on his face, a single yellow line had appeared under his left eye.
"!!?" Both Yuna and Oberon were shocked because of the placement of the tattoo.
"Not only he has a strong ability like this, a dragon lineage, but his tattoo is also placed close to his energy cord. Ugh even thinking about it gives me a headache."
Oberon then got up from his chair and tried to kindly kick the duo out of his office.
"It was nice meeting you both. Now if you excuse me I need to put his ability in our database. If you have nothing else to do with me then please go out."
At the mention of the database Yuna's eyes grew dark, as if something dangerous was brewing in her mind.
"Before that, there was something that I needed to discuss with you." Yuna said to Oberon, then she looked at Claude "You mind going out first and waiting for me?"
"Ok." Claude simply said and didn't question his mother, proceeding to go out of the office.
"So what is?" Oberon said while looking at Yuna.
"About what you said... Do you really have to input the information about my son in the database? you know the higher-ups have access to it."
"Unfortunately yes. It is part of my duty that I do it, if I don't it will end badly on my behalf."
Yuna frowned and didn't look like that she was pleased with Oberon's answer regarding her son.
"But if you do that they will have their eyes on him. Worse they will use him and turn him into a weapon."
Oberon shrugged, as if he couldn't do anything a bit it.
"I'm sorry but I can't ignore this. If they find out that I have hidden something like this, they will turn my life into hell and that's the last thing I want. I know we're friends and Claudius is your son, but my life is more important for me."
Yuna went silent, closing her eyes briefly as if preparing herself before opening them again.
"I see. Then I'm sorry too."
"What do you me-" Before Oberon could finish what he was saying he was lifted from his place by Yuna's hand that was placed on his throat.
Knowing what was on Yuna's mind and what she probably wanted to do, Oberon tried to free himself from Yuna's hold, which proved to be difficult.
"Y-you can't kill me if you do they will come after you!"
A cold smiled found it's way on Yuna's face as she shook her head from disappointment.
"Kill? No no, I'm not that dumb to do that. Surely if I kill you higher-ups will come after me but what if I just silence you?"
"What do you mean!?"
Oberon Yelled loudly, being scared for his life that was in the hands of Yuna. He knew what she was capable of, so he didn't feel good about whatever she wanted to do to him.
"You know what my ability is right?"
She asked, which Oberon nodded quickly "You can see other people's memories and copy them for yourself, that's how you climbed rankings so fast and got stronger, because you copied other seasoned warriors experiences."
"That is what I told you and everyone else. At first, I couldn't but now that my ability is stronger and more developed, not only can I copy memories, but I can remove and put new memories in people's minds."
As Oberon heard those words his blood ran cold, his brains going full circuit and knowing what she planned to do to him.
"You... you're not going to do what I think, right?"
Much to his hopes, Yuna smiled. A smile that would hunt him forever. That is if he even would remember what happened.
"Unfortunately for you I do. just so you know, my ability has a small drawback that might make the person I altered their memories go through sensory disruption if I'm not careful. In short, they could end up brain dead."
Yuna said the last part with a small pitying smile which contradicted the dangerous glint in her eyes.
"No no, don't do this, you can't! I am your friend, we shared many memories through the years. Surely they mean something to you?"
Oberon said as he tried to bargain for a deal or make Yuna feel pity for him due to the memories they shared.
But unfortunately for him, Yuna didn't have a shred of pity for him.
"We did and you indeed were a good friend to me. but that's in the past, Surely you remember what you said before. so let me turn it back to you, my son's life and future are more important to me than yours."
Oberon turned silent upon hearing his words being used against him. Yuna then tightened her hold on Oberon's neck to choke him.
As Oberon was struggling to breathe, Yuna's eyes shined brightly and Oberon tried to scream in pain as he felt his mind was being invaded.
But alas he couldn't move a single finger due to the sheer amount of pain and agony he was going through.
It felt as if the very essence of his being was getting removed from him.
After a few moments, Yuna loosened her grasp on Oberon's neck and he fell to the ground.
'Done. He shouldn't remember anything about what happened today. I might have gone a little overboard, but as long as it's for my son it's ok.' Yuna thought to herself then
looked at the window, a plan forming in her mind.
'Hmm, this might work.'
she punched the glass and broke it. Similar to what she did, she messed up the other parts of the office too and finally approached the door and got out of Oberon's office.
As she exited the office she was met by her son who was looking at the entrance of the office with a blank face.
Yuna crouched down a bit and gently petted her son's head. He truly was a ray of sunshine in her life.
"Sorry, did you wait too much for me?"
"Yes I did Mom." Claude replied nonchalantly, making her chuckle at his bluntness.
"I'm so sorry then. Let's go home alright?"
Claude nodded silently and the duo walked out of the enormous building.
