Helena's POV
"You still haven't told me your name," Asher says, his voice cutting through the silence that has settled between us.
I glance at him sideways. His knuckles have turned white where they grip the steering wheel, tension radiating from every line of his body. The sight makes my stomach flutter with an emotion I refuse to name.
"Helena," I answer simply. "Though the people I care about call me Lena."
Asher worries his lower lip between his teeth, a habit I'm beginning to recognize. "Would it be okay if I called you Lena?"
A bitter laugh escapes me as I turn toward the passenger window. "We'll see about that."
His eyes dart toward me before he makes a sharp turn onto a winding gravel road. The change in terrain sends a jolt of anxiety through me, and Aria stirs restlessly in my mind.
'Any pack territory will see us as a threat,' she warns, her voice tight with concern.
