Wendy's POV
The first sensation that penetrates my consciousness is an overwhelming emptiness.
No gentle morning breeze carries familiar sounds through the trees. No steady rhythm of breathing fills the space beside me. The absence creates a deafening void that makes my pulse thunder against my eardrums.
"Javier?"
My voice vanishes into the hollow air, swallowed by a silence so complete it feels alive. I push myself upright, squinting against harsh sunlight that cuts through my vision. That's when the truth hits me like ice water.
He's gone. Not just absent, but erased. His boots, shirt, even the lingering warmth of his presence have all disappeared. The ground where he slept shows no impression, as if he never existed at all.
Terror claws up my throat, sharp and immediate.
