Chapter 87 - Chapter 87: Iron Man is the biggest suspect?

"Batman's cape? I can't believe the trivia system would even reward us with something from a comic book!" Iron Man said, looking at the big screen with a hint of surprise.

Batman was a hugely popular comic book in their world, so popular it could be called a "working-class comic."

Whether it was the comics, animation, or movies, there was always one you had seen.

Except for Thor and the recently revived Captain America, everyone present knew who Batman was.

"Rewards from comic books are appearing, so will there be rewards from movies or novels in the future? I'm really looking forward to it," Iron Man's eyes sparkled with a faint light.

He was genuinely excited about it.

"Alright, Stark, let's get back to the questions," Captain America said, pulling the conversation back on track as it was about to go off-topic.

"To call out for his mother just before death, that means the person in that option must love his mother very much; he must be a very filial person."

After realizing the trivia system was real, Thor finally actively participated, beginning his analysis.

"I'm not too sure about the others, but I'm not the kind of person who would call out for his mother before dying," Nick Fury decisively excluded himself first.

He knew himself well; he simply wasn't that kind of person.

"I also don't think you're that kind of person, sir," Black Widow nodded in agreement.

If her boss cursed a few times before dying, that might be possible, but calling out for his mother?

That really wasn't Nick Fury's style.

"Stark, what about you?" Black Widow then turned her inquiring gaze to Iron Man.

There wasn't a better way to analyze this question; since some of the people involved in the options were present, nothing was more reasonable than asking them directly.

"Me?"

Iron Man was stunned; he, who was usually eloquent and full of words, now opened his mouth but said nothing.

It wasn't until a few seconds later that he spread his hands: "To be honest... I'm not too sure either."

All along, Iron Man had actually been bothered by the death of his parents.

Because on the last day before his parents died, he had had a falling out with them.

This matter had always been a knot in Iron Man's heart; he always felt very guilty towards his parents.

Under this guilt, if Iron Man were to truly die one day, it was very possible that he would be thinking of his parents.

"Stark is speechless too, that's a first," Black Widow couldn't help but tease.

"Stark, we all saw the footage of you before your death in 'Endgame.' You didn't seem to call out for your mother, only for Ms. Potts."

Coulson reminded everyone with a serious expression at this moment.

"So Stark can also be ruled out?" Thor looked up at the big screen and said.

"No, we can't rule him out just yet," Nick Fury said after a moment of contemplation, offering a different opinion.

"We've seen it very clearly: the trivia system's predictions of the future are presented in the form of footage."

"And this footage, like a movie, is presented through editing and splicing; in other words, we can treat those scenes as movie clips."

"There isn't necessarily a strict temporal continuity between one scene and the next."

"For example, in the footage of Captain America escaping the Triskelion, one scene showed the Captain walking out of the office, and the next showed him appearing in the elevator."

"The entire process from the office to entering the elevator was omitted."

"That makes sense!" Black Widow nodded, agreeing with Nick Fury's point. "If that's the case, perhaps some things the trivia system deemed unimportant or unnecessary to show were not displayed."

"Coulson, was the scene of Stark's death shown in 'Endgame' a 'one-shot' or 'single take'?" Nick Fury asked Coulson again with a serious expression.

"No, sir, I remember it wasn't a one-shot; there were camera cuts," Coulson replied, recalling, and then confirmed with Iron Man, "Stark, that should be right, shouldn't it?"

"There were indeed camera cuts," Iron Man also nodded.

Since both Iron Man and Coulson remembered camera cuts, the possibility of them being mistaken was very small.

"So, in that case, although Stark called out 'Ms. Potts' at the time, Ms. Potts had actually called out to Stark first, and Stark was responding..."

Coulson said to everyone after carefully recalling.

This statement successfully increased Stark's "suspicion."

"So Stark is TBD. What about you, Captain?" Nick Fury turned his inquiring gaze to Captain America. "Who were you thinking of when you were dying before your plane crashed in the Arctic Ocean?"

Although everyone knew from interviews with Peggy Carter that Captain America was talking to Carter before he died, and even crashed into the river directly during the call.

However, crashing into the river doesn't mean immediate death, especially since Captain America, as a super soldier, had physical qualities far superior to ordinary people.

It would likely take a long time before he succumbed to death.

No one knew who Captain America was thinking of most in his final moments.

"Not my mother," Captain America didn't say who he was thinking of, only gave a negative answer.

"Rogers can also be ruled out," Thor's gaze fell on the last option. "Who is Hawkeye Barton? He doesn't seem to be here."

"Barton is one of my most loyal and reliable agents," Nick Fury explained to Thor with a serious expression. After a moment of thought, he also offered his guess, "I don't think it would be Barton either."

Because Hawkeye Barton had his own family, a wife and children, and Barton loved his family very, very much.

So Nick Fury felt that if Barton truly died, he would likely be thinking of his family, which was more probable than thinking of his mother.

However, Hawkeye's family was currently confidential, so Nick Fury only stated his judgment without giving specific reasons.

"Looking at it this way, three can be ruled out, and there's one TBD, Stark. So the answer to this question seems very obvious."

Captain America scanned the people around him and said, noticing that everyone looked in agreement and no one raised any objections.
