The head bodyguard wasn't the only one reluctant to proceed. The faces of the dozen men he'd brought along turned rigid too.
They were being ordered to storm into my home, after all.
And I wasn't alone inside.
Phoebe, Lucas, and Alan were with me.
These men couldn't handle me solo, much less with my allies backing me up.
Eventually, the bodyguards only agreed to this suicide run after Katie's repeated promises and guarantees of extra payment, win or lose.
The lead bodyguard marched his crew through my open gate. The second they crossed the threshold, their eyes locked with four pairs calmly observing them from the living room couch.
"Mr... Mr. Bailey..." The head bodyguard's confidence crumbled instantly, his tough-guy act dissolving.
I narrowed my eyes at the dozen guards clustered like frightened birds near my entrance. "Bold of you to barge into my house."
