I walked into the police station behind Harold and Alan, immediately catching Caiden's attention. His eyes lit up when he spotted me, though he tried to hide it quickly. Something felt off about his reaction—too controlled, too calculated.
The morning had been chaos. Two university students found mutilated in a park near Clearwater University. I could sense the undercurrents of power at play, the kind that made even seasoned cops like Caiden nervous.
"Mr. Bailey, Mr. Kemp, I'm terribly sorry to trouble you both with personally bringing her here. Since she's arrived, how about we follow standard procedure and have her brought in for questioning?" Caiden stepped forward, his tone respectful but his eyes kept drifting toward me with an invasive intensity.
