Chapter 38: Sirius
The night of the Ministry battle, on a dark cave near the castle of Hogwarts, an unconscious Sirius appeared from a black portal and tumbled on the ground until he landed on his back.
"Urgg…" He moaned in pain, and his grey eyes opened for just a second before he went back to sleep.
Hours later, he finally started to recover his senses.
"Mmm…what the…" His eyes opened up, but all he saw at first was…darkness.
Sirius panicked and stood up from the ground.
"Ouch!" Only to hit his head against the short ceiling of the cave.
As he grasped his head to muffle the pain, Sirius began to hear some loud clicking noises.
"What is that?"
Before he had time to figure it out, something flew near his face.
"Whoa!"
He turned around to see what it was, but it was too dark for that. However, while following this flying 'thing', he spotted some light at the end of a long black tunnel.
Sirius was about to move when another flying 'thing' passed by the side of his head, and this one was quickly followed by another one that actually collided with his face.
It was then that he realised what these 'things' were.
"Bats!" He shouted loudly, and this just made things worse for him.
Hundreds of the flying creatures burst out of the cave. Some passed close to him while others ended up hitting him and getting tangled with his hair.
"Ahhh!, get off!, get off me!" Sirius shouted as he struggled to get the creatures out.
He finally remembered to pull his wand out. "Lumos Solem!" The powerful light emerging from his wand drove away the remaining bats, leaving him alone in the long cave.
"What in Merlin's name…why am I in a cave?!" Sirius was extremely confused right now.
His mind raced to find an answer. The last thing he remembered was going to the Ministry of Magic at night to save his Godson, Harry.
"I was…fighting my cousin, Bella. What a crazy witch she is…and then…what?" He gasped.
The thing he could recall was being hit by a spell and falling back, then feeling something extremely unpleasant, and he thought he was going to die, and then—
"Was Harry there?" For a second, he thought he had heard the voice of his Godson.
"Right, Harry! He was in danger!" Sirius realised that this was not the time to be stuck in some cave. He needed to go find his Godson.
The man sprinted through the cave, using the magical light of his charm to avoid tripping over on the uneven ground.
"Whoa!" When he reached the end of the cave, Sirius was shocked to find out that he was actually on the side of a cliff and had to stop himself to avoid falling down to his death.
"Damn it! That was a close one."
"Okay, calm down, Sirius…just get a grip." He took a deep breath and tried to get his bearings while looking around at the beautiful landscape.
"Mmmm…why does this look so familiar?" It was then that he spotted a castle in the distance. "Hold on…that's Hogw—ahhh." Another bat passed by his head.

Dumbledore was just recovering from his meeting with Harry Potter, in which the boy almost ended up turning into an Obscurus and killing everyone present at the school.
The story told by the magical hat was certainly hard to believe, but for now, he did not have any other explanation.
"What am I going to do now with this boy?" Regardless of the veracity of the story, it had become clear to him that this new Harry Potter would not be easy to…guide in the correct direction.
This Harry was much wiser, mature and powerful…as well as mentally unstable.
"Not a great combination," Dumbledore muttered while glancing around his office.
The traces of destruction were still somewhat noticeable.
It was then that he realised another issue. One that would need to be solved before the end of the school year, which was just four days away.
"I can't possibly send this Harry with those muggle relatives of his…"
Dumbledore knew very well what kind of people the Dursleys were. If they were to do something to upset Harry as he is now…it would be a catastrophe.
The Headmaster didn't even want to imagine what the result could be if Harry's magic burst out as it did in his office while he was living in a large muggle neighborhood.
"I will need to speak with…hmm?" He sensed something and became alert.
The old wizard still had some sharpness left in him and looked towards the window with his wand in hand.
He then began to hear loud groans.
'Not very discreet…' The Headmaster prepared himself to welcome his 'guest'.
"Uff, damn it…this wall is taller than what I remember."
"Wait," Dumbledore muttered. He recognised the voice.
The old Headmaster approached the window and decided to look down, only to find a man with black robes climbing the wall leading to his office by using a sticky charm.
"Sirius?! What are you doing?"
"Albus! Could you stop staring and help me out?! I think the wall is getting slippery."
"That is because it is. It's one of the many protections around my office. You really thought you could just climb up here?" Dumbledore raised an eyebrow, but at the same time, he used his wand to pull Sirius up and bring him inside.
"Uff…I thought I was going to fall." Sirius said as he landed on the floor.
"That would have likely been your fate had I not been here. What were you thinking?" Dumbledore exclaimed.
"Well…it did work when we were kids." Sirius said. "There was one time when James and I were able to sneak in here and…" He stopped himself from continuing. "W-we didn't take anything, swear! We just wanted to see if you actually had a phoenix in here."
"That only worked because I removed the protections…I couldn't just let two of my students fall to their deaths." Dumbledore pointed out.
"You knew?!" Sirius looked shocked.
"Yes, but let's forget about that now. Please, tell me what happened to you. Where did you go?" Dumbledore asked.
