Chapter 417 - Hagoromo, the Sage of the Six Paths

Without a doubt, against Kaguya, who possessed all chakra natures, any ninjutsu attack was useless. Only the simplest, most primitive Taijutsu and Nen abilities could harm her.

Thus, after pinning Kaguya to the ground, Allen did not hesitate for a second. He instantly activated the Eight Inner Gates to drastically enhance his physical attributes. Simultaneously, he utilized his duplication ability to clone two more Sulfuras Swords. Like a chef mincing meat, he unleashed a bloody and relentless onslaught upon the woman.

In mere seconds, Kaguya's body collapsed under the tearing force of the two artifacts, reduced to a heap of charred, mangled fragments.

However, because she had consumed the Chakra Fruit and merged with the God Tree, she continued to regenerate regardless of how severe the damage was. Consequently, an incredibly eerie scene unfolded: Allen continued to shred Kaguya's body, leaving scorched remains scattered across dozens of meters, yet Kaguya refused to die, her voice crying out in agonizing, desperate screams.

There was no helping it. It wasn't that Allen had a penchant for torture, but until her chakra was completely depleted, it was virtually impossible to kill this woman permanently.

However, the damage from the Sulfuras Sword was clearly not limited to the physical; it appeared to cause irreversible scorching of the soul. As the number of strikes increased, the rationality in Kaguya's eyes began to fade, replaced by a vacant, hollow stare. Her screams grew fainter, as if she could no longer register the intense pain.

"Vaelastrasz! What is happening to her?" Allen asked while continuing to swing the Sulfuras Sword, inquiring with the Red Dragon about the enemy's vital state.

"Physiologically, there are no issues. Her chakra can sustain her for at least another ten minutes. However, I suspect her soul has sustained severe damage; her memories and subjective will are collapsing," Vaelastrasz gave her judgment after a slight pause.

After all, her current domain of control was limited to life itself, not including the extremely mysterious and complex realm of the soul.

"Can we devour her now?" Allen followed up.

"Devouring her flesh and blood is fine, but nothing else. Whether it is the God Tree or that massive amount of chakra, they are still under the control of her subconscious. I cannot complete the seizure and consumption yet," Vaelastrasz provided a blunt, negative answer.

Though she was eager to swallow this "mega-supplement" in front of her, Kaguya's life tier was clearly higher. Until her will and power to resist were completely extinguished, accomplishing such a feat was essentially impossible.

Just as Allen was about to order the Red Dragon to begin devouring Kaguya's flesh, a majestic voice suddenly echoed in his ears.

"Enough! Stop this at once!"

Soon, a figure composed entirely of spirit appeared out of thin air. It was none other than the Sage of the Six Paths, Hagoromo, the man who had passed down chakra and the necessary mediums to refine it to the rest of the world.

However, at this moment, there wasn't a trace of the kind, benevolent expression usually associated with Hagoromo; his face was contorted with fury.

"Gramps?"

"Old man!"

The struggling Naruto and Sasuke immediately looked toward this hero who once saved the world as if seeing a savior. Regrettably, the Sage of the Six Paths couldn't care less about these two chakra reincarnations of his sons; his gaze was fixed solely on his mother, who was pinned to the ground suffering the "death of a thousand cuts."

"I'm sorry, but what right do you have to order me? Or rather, do you think I would listen to a dead man like you?" Allen laughed contemptuously.

At the same time, his hands, wielding the Sulfuras Sword, showed no intention of stopping.

Stop? What a joke. Setting aside the fact that this old man no longer possessed the power of the Ten-Tails and was in a spirit state, even if he were resurrected and wanted a fight, Allen would happily oblige to the bitter end.

"Do you truly wish to make an enemy of me?" Hagoromo was clearly incensed by Allen's actions and attitude, his eyes flashing with the fire of rage. He vaguely remembered the last time he had been this angry: it was when he broke ties with his mother. He never imagined that a thousand years later, he would be venting his anger on another person for the sake of the mother he once opposed.

"No. We are already enemies! Come then, legendary Sage of the Six Paths, show me what you've got. And as a side note, I've already left countless Flying Raijin markings across this world, so the seal of Chibaku Tensei means absolutely nothing to me."

As he spoke, Allen tilted his head slightly, his tone dripping with provocation. Not only that, he actually severed Kaguya's skull and impaled it on the tip of his blade in a highly insulting manner to slow its regeneration.

Looking at his mother's eyes, which had already lost their luster, the Sage of the Six Paths finally could not contain himself. He directly extracted a portion of the Yin-Yang chakra from Naruto and Sasuke's bodies, creating a physical body for himself on the spot.

As Nagato once said, the Rinnegan possesses the power to master the cycle of life and death. For Hagoromo, crossing the threshold between life and death was never a difficult task.

In truth, had he not forcibly extracted the Ten-Tails from his own body and used the power of the Rinnegan to seal it, creating the massive moon overhead, he would never have died; he could have lived indefinitely. Unfortunately, it seemed he had lived long enough and deliberately sought his own end through these maneuvers.

Feeling the long-lost chakra begin to flow through his body once again, the Sage of the Six Paths finally spoke: "Final warning! Release my mother! She cannot die! This world still faces a much greater threat, and when that time comes, she will not be an enemy, she will be a potential ally."

But Allen clearly wasn't buying it. He questioned with a half-smile, "Tell me, are you speaking as a son right now, or as a savior? If it's the former, am I to understand that you don't care at all about the lives of the ordinary people on this planet, nor do you care about the immense losses and catastrophes they will endure for this? If it's the latter, please explain how many innocent people Kaguya has killed. Should she not pay the price for that?"

"But she is my mother!"

Hagoromo remained silent for a full minute under Allen's interrogation before finally uttering those words. Clearly, he no longer intended to reason; he was going to use force to settle the dispute.

"Excellent! It seems you admit you are the former, choosing your wicked mother over the lives of countless innocents."

Having said this, Allen turned and cast his gaze toward Sasuke and Naruto. "Did you two fools hear that clearly? This is the true face of the legendary Sage of the Six Paths! As a descendant who inherited Kaguya's powerful lineage, he cannot truly understand the sorrow of being weak, nor can he generate even a shred of empathy. His attitude toward ordinary people is like a human's attitude toward cats or dogs. There may be pity, there may be sympathy, but it strictly does not include understanding. Tell me, even after this, are you still willing to believe in him?"
