Chapter 129 - Dodgeball

"Grim Reaper Allen..."

Razor narrowed his eyes, accurately naming Allen and his alias. Unlike the prisoners trapped here for years, Razor clearly had channels to the outside world. He knew what had been happening recently, and his expression became serious and somber.

Allen noticed this and asked with interest, "You know me?"

Razor nodded slightly. "Of course. Is there a wanted criminal in this world who doesn't fear the Grim Reaper? Although I'm technically serving a sentence here, your presence still makes me feel a bit of tension."

"Grim Reaper?" One of the convicts wearing a jester hat looked confused.

"Yeah! Grim Reaper Allen! In just half a year, he captured over a thousand wanted criminals, including dangerous B-rank and A-rank fugitives. Even the notorious Phantom Troupe was completely uprooted by him. Most importantly, none of his targets escape. They all die, devoured by that massive red Nen beast just now," Razor explained casually.

Gulp.

Hearing this, the criminals who had come to Greed Island to serve their sentences couldn't help but show panic and fear. They weren't sure if they would be killed and devoured like Bopobo.

Seeing their nervousness, Allen smiled reassuringly. "Relax. Right now, I'm not here as a Bounty Hunter. I'm just a player here to win Card #002, Plot of Beach. Nothing more. Besides, this is Ging's territory. Out of respect for my senior, I will play by the rules."

"Huh?! You've met Ging?" Gon's eyes widened in shock.

"Yeah! I met him briefly not long ago. That guy gives off the feeling that everything is under his control. If he were an opponent or an enemy, he'd probably be a nightmare to handle," Allen admitted openly.

"Then... where is he now?" Gon pressed excitedly. From his intense, persistent gaze, it was clear that rather than searching for a father or the affection he never had, he was on a hunt. His prey just happened to be an unknown creature that could be called "father."

Allen shrugged helplessly. "Sorry, I don't know. A wanderer like Ging never stays in one place, and he certainly wouldn't give up pursuing the unknown and interesting for the sake of the scenery in front of him. I think the Game Master who worked with him would know that best."

"Hahahaha! You're right! Ging is exactly that kind of guy!" Razor burst out laughing, seemingly reminiscing about their time working together. When the design of Greed Island was finished, that bastard had dumped the mess on the rest of the team and run off to seek new adventures.

"Can you tell me more about Ging?" Gon asked excitedly.

Razor replied without hesitation, "Sure! But only if you beat me first. Now, let's skip the feeling-out phase and get to the main event, the final match: Dodgeball. The rules are simple: knock the opposing team out of the inner court. The first team to do so wins. We're playing with the 'rebound' rule, and each team has one chance to 'back in'."

As he finished speaking, he activated his Nen ability, instantly creating a number of highly intelligent puppets, including a referee. As an Emitter, to have trained the distant Conjuration and neighboring Manipulation to this level proved he was an absolute master.

"What about the sumo match? We haven't designated a player for that yet," Killua interjected, raising a challenge. It was obvious the clever kid wanted to use a loophole to ensure Allen, the strongest member of the team, could participate in the dodgeball match.

"We'll count it as your win. As for the designated winner, it doesn't matter if we give it to one of those guys," Razor said generously, pointing to the players recruited just to fill seats.

"OK! Then it's you! Congratulations, you won the sumo match," Killua said, quickly patting the nearest bystander.

Unfortunately, these people were so terrified by the power of the earlier Aura Ball that they scrambled away, not daring to participate in a game where they might lose their lives.

"Damn! We don't have enough people. Do I need to give them a kiss full of 'courage'?" Baise asked uncertainly.

"No need. I can count for three people myself."

Before Allen could respond, Goreinu activated his ability, summoning two gorilla-like Nen beasts, the Black Goreinu and White Goreinu. Along with Allen, Gon, Killua, Bisky, and Hisoka, they made exactly eight.

"Dodgeball, huh? How many years has it been since I played this..." Allen muttered to himself. In his memory, this was a game from elementary school. Once middle school started, life became an endless cycle of studying and tutoring, and outdoor sports gradually disappeared. That was when he had started becoming a shut-in, spending his time on games, anime, and the internet.

While Allen was momentarily lost in thought, a heavy impact sounded beside him. He looked over to see the White Goreinu's head shattered by a ball thrown by Razor; it collapsed and disappeared. Goreinu himself had swapped places with the Black Goreinu and was now crouching in the outer court, gasping for breath, his eyes filled with shock and terror. He knew that if he hadn't made the right split-second decision, he would have died a gruesome death.

"I see. Your ability allows you to swap places with your Nen beasts, right?" Razor turned to glance at Goreinu. Soon, he wrapped the ball in powerful Aura again and shouted at the player camp, "Here I come!"

He hurled the ball with a sudden burst of force. This time, he didn't throw it directly at an opponent but to a puppet in the outer court. As an Emitter, his Aura wouldn't weaken by being far from his body, allowing him to use rapid passes to disorient his targets.

"Allen!"

"Watch out!"

Killua and Gon shouted warnings simultaneously. A puppet in the outer court had stopped passing and fired the ball from Allen's blind spot, attempting to take out the biggest threat first with a sneak attack.

Interestingly, Baise and Bodoro, who were sitting in the corner, simply yawned in boredom. Having sparred with him often, they knew that even if the ball were two or three times faster, the opponent shouldn't expect to even graze the hem of Allen's clothes. In terms of neural reaction speed, no one was faster than this monster-like youth.
