Chapter 67 - Essence of Life

"I don't understand. Since Perro could easily earn huge amounts of cash just by relying on his ability, why would he take such a massive risk accepting contracts from warlords and extremist organizations to commit terrorist attacks?" Allen's face showed an expression of confusion.

After all, no matter how high the commission offered by warlords and extremist groups was, it couldn't possibly surpass the profit gained by supplying crucial raw materials to the deep-pocketed Hunter Association.

Moreover, due to the unique nature of his Nen ability, this business would be a complete monopoly, eliminating any worries about technical leaks or similar issues.

Cheadle turned around and stared meaningfully into Allen's eyes. After a full minute, she finally replied: "Perro wasn't doing it for the money. He was trying to take revenge on society through these actions.

"He was originally a researcher of chemical weapons for a small, secret nation. One day, due to pressure from the V5, the entire facility was suddenly abandoned by the higher-ups, and the self-destruct mechanism was activated.

"All the researchers, including him, were trapped in the laboratory for a month by the terrifying toxic solutions and gases they themselves had developed.

"In the end, only he escaped alive out of the over three hundred people in the facility and subsequently awakened his Nen ability.

"Since then, this lunatic began causing terrorist attacks in various parts of the world under the guise of accepting contracts, venting his inner rage by spreading pain and death.

"Even among A-rank wanted criminals, Perro was part of the small, most dangerous and most deranged group.

"So, your taking him out this time is equivalent to removing a massive hidden danger for both the Association and the V5. I estimate quite a few people will secretly breathe a sigh of relief."

"A pathetic political casualty? His life was certainly miserable enough," Allen commented lightly.

As for feeling sympathy for a madman who murdered hundreds of innocent civilians just to take revenge on society, anyone whose brain hadn't been squeezed through a door wouldn't entertain such a notion.

In fact, what he despised the most was the deliberate use of so-called "tragic childhoods or lives" to create drama, forcibly reinterpreting inherently criminal acts as some form of "justified revenge," thereby whitewashing those who committed heinous crimes and garnering cheap sympathy.

People must be responsible for their own actions and be prepared to pay the price for the mistakes they make.

Commit a crime, and you must accept the possibility of going to jail!

Take a life, and you must accept the possibility of losing your own!

Therefore, when dealing with criminals like the Phantom Troupe or B-rank and higher wanted criminals on the Hunter website, Allen would never show an ounce of mercy.

Cheadle undoubtedly noticed the cold, merciless look in his eyes and laughed lightly, remarking, "Chairman Netero was right. You are a born Hunter. Once you identify your prey, you never give up and are never swayed by external factors. If I'm not mistaken, you plan to continue hunting the dangerous individuals on that wanted list, don't you?"

Allen nodded without hesitation: "Yes. I will hunt down and eliminate every wanted criminal on this map. Oh, right, is your area of expertise in the Association related to medicine and pharmaceutical research?"

"That's correct. Why, do you need medical assistance?" Cheadle's beast ears twitched slightly.

"No. I happened to acquire an interesting item, and I was hoping you could help test it to see what its purpose is." Saying this, Allen retrieved a crystalline object that emitted a faint, green glow from his backpack.

"What is this?!"

Cheadle clearly sensed the pure life force contained within the small crystal, and she instantly became extremely agitated.

"I call it Essence of Life. If you agree to share all research results, then it's yours now," Allen proposed his condition.

"Essence of Life... the name certainly lives up to its nature. I accept your condition!" Cheadle agreed without a second thought.

As a pharmaceutical expert, she simply couldn't resist the allure of this small crystal, and she desperately yearned to personally unlock its secrets and use it as a raw material to develop medicine that could cure all injuries, diseases, and perhaps even reverse aging.

"Then the deal is struck. Here is my phone number; call me anytime there's progress. If there's nothing else, I'll be heading off. Bye!" With that, Allen waved his hand and walked toward the location of the train station without looking back.

However, before he had walked very far, Cheadle couldn't help but ask loudly, "Where exactly did this thing called Essence of Life come from? Is it related to your ability?"

"Heh heh, that's classified for now. However, if you have a need, I can provide a little more, but the quantity will certainly not be large."

Clearly, Allen was utilizing Cheadle's expertise in pharmaceutical development to try and figure out the exact use of the Essence of Life.

After all, just by its name and the type of monster it drops from, it's easy to infer that it must be related to plant essence, vitality, or similar concepts. Paired with certain special Nen abilities, it might just create medicines with miraculous effects.

As the saying goes, specialized tasks should be left to the specialists!

As for whether the higher-ups of the Hunter Association and the V5 might take notice, he didn't care in the slightest.

Even if they found out, what could they do?

The world of Hunter x Hunter is already filled with all sorts of incredible things, and what humans occupy is only an insignificant fraction; there are vast, wider unknown territories outside.

He could simply attribute it all to a special Nen ability or something from the Dark Continent, and then make a deal with them, exchanging it for something he desired.

While Allen was boarding the train and closing in on his next target, far away in a small town hotel room, over a thousand kilometers away, Luna was sitting with another woman wearing a black tank top and a slightly robust build, gazing into each other's eyes.

Luna's eyes seemed to be continually broadcasting something, while the other woman was viewing the images projected within her eyes.

They maintained this gaze for over ten minutes until the constantly flashing and changing scenes in Luna's eyes concluded. Only then did they collapse onto the bed with a thump, drenched in sweat, as if completely exhausted.

About five minutes later, Luna was the first to recover from the sheer fatigue, asking breathlessly, "Well, Reese, did you see clearly?"

"Yes. I saw it clearly. He's strong! Strong like a monster! Neither the Ghoul Zebulun nor the Mad Chemist Perro was a match for him. His Nen ability is likely to steal others' Aura and abilities by fulfilling certain conditions. That is why he possesses such terrifying Nen at this age," the woman named Reese couldn't help but sigh.

"Do you think he's the person we've been searching for?"

Luna struggled to sit up from the bed, staring intently at her friend, her eyes filled with tension and anticipation.

"I don't know. But I'm certain he is far stronger than our enemy. Perhaps... this time we genuinely can fulfill the wish we've held for years and avenge our brutally killed companions."

As she spoke, undisguised hatred and fury surfaced on Reese's face.

"Then when do you plan to set off to talk to him face-to-face?" Luna pressed impatiently.

Reese took a deep breath and gently shook her head: "No rush. Now is not the time. Once he finishes taking care of all the wanted criminals on that map, he will certainly contact us on his own."
